Following an interview with GMTV, actor Simon MacCorkindale confirmed that he will be leaving CASUALTY at the end of the year.

Returning to the show this week following a 5 month break, Simon revealed he will finish filming at Christmas ahead of rehersals for a 16 week tour in a theatre production of 'Sleuth' which starts it's run in Windsor from 22nd January 2008.

Simon has played Consultant Harry Harper since June 2002 and his character has faced many heartbreaks during his time on the show including the death of his wife, Beth, in a car crash, his daughter attempting suicide, the deaths of two close colleagues Ellen and Selena as well as a drug prescription addiction.

He'll not be leaving our screens until Feb/March time.

Aw that's a shame, but I can understand the cast only have a few weeks break between series now but before they used to have 3 or 4 months so it's not suprising that he wants to do other things.

I hope so too, but they will probably just get a new one. Although there was a new consultant recently on screen wasn't there.
