Coronation Street's David Platt finally goes over the edge later this month when he drives his car into a canal in an attempt to commit suicide.

On the day of his sister Sarah's (Tina O'Brien) marriage to Jason (Ryan Thomas), David – played by 19-year-old Jack P. Shepherd – leaves a suicide note and voicemail messages for his family and sets off to kill himself.

A source told DS: "If it's the last thing David does, he's determined to ruin Sarah's special day…"

The dramatic on-location scenes were filmed yesterday in Manchester and are due to transmit in a one-hour special on Wednesday, October 31.

Thats probably where David got the idea from, he has gone crazy and seems to blame his mothers choice of men

Sorry but I posted a simillar post in Emmerdale about recycling storylines. May be it's the time of the year for the writers to hit a block, but ever so often soaps resurface old storylines that have proved rating winners and in Corrie's it's been driving a car into the canal. Do they think that the viewers won't realise it has been done before.

I think it's quite a good storyline. We all know David's been going mad these past few months/years lol. I think the Richard Hillman thing really stuck in with David, the pivitol moment for him going mad, and it's like it's the only way he knows how to end it. And it will stir feelings for Gail, and Sarah, as they've been though it before. They'll know how horrific it is. love David, he's great, and I know that Jack and the rest of the Platts (even though I don't like their characters), will do it great justice. I'm well looing forward to it.

well I know this has been done before, But i really do think its makes sense since david does blame gails realtionship with Hillman and its probably one of the reasons that david is so screwed up and would make sense that in a suicide attmept he would do something that he would of been killed in himself
