Sophie Ellis-Bextor has revealed that she will release a greatest hits album before the end of the year.

The 28-year-old popstar will follow this year's Trip The Light Fantastic LP - her third solo studio album - with a compilation of her chart singles from 1997 to the present day.

The collection will be bolstered by several new songs, including a potential collaboration with 'Acceptable In The 80s' hitmaker Calvin Harris.

She wrote on her official website: "[I'm] hoping to put out a brand new single in November with the greatest hits coming soon after that... It's been a really good year and this is a nice way to end it. We just need to find this magic song! But I'm working with Calvin Harris next week, so I'm hoping we get something great from that.

"I've been doing this for ten years now, so it feels like I can do the greatest hits and then start the next chapter."

Ellis-Bextor began her pop career as the lead singer of nineties band theaudience. She later became a successful solo star, scoring hit singles with 'Murder On The Dancefloor', 'Mixed Up World' and 'Catch You'.

I think this is great news, she's so much better than some of the rubbish you hear nowadays.
