Who would have thought that resentful Liam Connor would actually have feelings for his bossy sister-in-law, Carla?
Since before his brother, Paul, died, Liam has let Carla wind him up as she barged her way into the business and then took over.
But it only takes another man, Corrie newcomer Tony Gordon, to tread on Liam’s turf and bring his true feelings bubbling to the surface.
Rob James-Collier told All About Soap: “Liam was bitter working with Carla at first, but the law is the law and he had to deal with Carla getting Paul’s share of the factory.
“They’ve had their moments, but the dust has finally settled – until Tony came on the scene!”
Tony the catalogue rep, played by Gray O’Brien, makes it obvious he’s keen for more than just business dealings with Carla. And Liam doesn’t take kindly to it.
Rob explained: “Tony has stirred feelings in Liam he didn’t expect. Liam had no idea he felt something for Carla.
“At first he genuinely thinks it’s too soon for Carla to be dating after Paul, but Liam’s cheating himself. He’s in denial.”
But why has it taken so long for Liam’s love to emerge?
“Tragedy brings up emotions you never knew you had,” said Rob, “so Paul dying may have had an effect. Sometimes you need a threat, such as another guy, to make you realise you actually love someone.”
At the peak of a heated argument, Liam kisses Carla, but she pulls away and the incident is brushed under the carpet.
But will the sexual tension get the better of them in the end?
