I read today on digitalspy that clare from hollyoaks is joining eastenders,Former Hollyoaks actress Gemma Bissix is to return to EastEnders almost 10 years after she left.

The 24-year-old – who bowed out of Hollyoaks last night after portraying superbitch Clare Cunningham for just under a year – is to return to Walford as Clare Bates, step-daughter of Nigel (Paul Bradley) and Debbie Bates (Nicola Duffett).

Clare's world was turned upside down when her mum died in a car crash in 1995. She was last seen in Albert Square in 1998 before leaving to live in Scotland with her father and her teacher, Julie Haye (Karen Henthorn).

An EastEnders source told The Sun: "Clare goes back to Walford hoping to stay with Dot, who is thrilled to see her. But Clare seems cagey when asked about her stepdad, Nigel.

They added: "She really shakes things up."

well tbh, they're gonna have the think of something. as cool as this could be, there's no real reason for her to come back to the square. 'to see Dot' is rather tenuous considering she's not spoken about either of them in years.

Gemma Bissex was a good young actress. I'm reliably informed she has kept on track into the adult world. Debbie Bates (Nicola L) was a good actress too, can't remember whether she left of her own accord or not.

After Debbie's tragic death, she was adopted by her hapless stepdad Nigel Bates . They left Walford for Scotland in 1998.

Apparently Gemma Bissex is to return to the show where she was started to reprise her role as Claire Bates in january 2008.

It is very mysterious as she has no family in the square, i wonder what her deal is? :searchme:

well when she left she had turned into a bit of a cow, - but she had lost her mum hadnt she and she was only a kid early teens at the most. god only knows what has happened to her in the last 9/10 years she has been away.

wonder why is coming back though as she doesnt have anything to come back to on the square, no family makes you wonder if she is up to something

Soaplife magazine states that she won't be as bad as her Hollyoaks character but she arrives wearing just a backless dress, fishnet tights and boots, has no money and gets chucked out of a car on Albert Square, so she probably will not be as sweet and innocent as she was 10 years ago. :angel:

Not sure if i am happy about it or not, i liked Clare when she was an innocent little girl hanging around with Sonia but i have a feeling she will have changed alot so im not sure if i will like her now, but i will give it a chance and see what she is like...though i bet it will be right at the end of the episode she turns up and we will have to wait till the monday :rolleyes:
