ITV has made a multi-million pound offer to comic Alan Carr to host comeback show Blind Date.

The programme - hosted until 2003 by Cilla Black who quit on air - was hugely successful. Carr has a deal with Channel 4 which he had been expected to renew, reports The Sun.

Last year ITV tried to get Graham Norton to defect from the BBC to host Blind Date but failed. ITV is determined to revive the show.

I think Alan would be a hoot on Blind date. He is adorable and highly entertaining.

It just wouldn't be the same without Our Cilla. I think they should leave these shows well alone, they were classics in their day but I find them rubbish now, especially with the different presenters.

I wasn't a huge Blind date fan, but I think Alan would be great on a Saturday night show.
