CASUALTY actor Ben Price is leaving the show following an interview in The Sunday People, in which he reveals his plans to pursue an acting career in America.
Ben, who has played Corporate Manager Nathan since December 2005, announced his decision to quit explaining, 'It was a mutual decision for me to leave. There is only so far you can go with a character like Nathan - he isn't a doctor and doesn't deal with the patients. But he has been great to play though.'
'He hates old people and he hates blood, yet he's working in a hospital. It's brilliant.'
Nathan has had a number of storylines to contend with including a failed relationship with Selena which ended when she learnt he had slept with prostitutes. She then claimed to have had an abortion but when she was shot and killed at the end of the last series, the team delivered his premature baby girl. Nathan, who names his baby Angel, has now kept a bedside vigil as his child fights for her life.
Ben, who now has his sights set on America, is heading to LA this month to pursue his acting dreams. 'Footballers' Wives is massive over there at the moment so it is a great time for me,' reveals Ben. 'I was there a little while ago and I already have a manager and an agent who have asked me to go along and they have set up meetings for me. I am open to anything to be honest as I just want to work. But I would love to do films. Who wouldn't want to do Hollywood films?'
'I have a couple of meetings about films and some about TV roles. They do a lot of pilot shows over there to test to see if they will work,' continues Ben. 'One I am trying out for is about a group of people who have ordinary sales jobs during the day, and at night they are fraudsters and rob and steal. They seem really keen on me which is great.'
'I can also do screen tests over here for work in America. If it goes well then great, and if not then things may happen back home.'
Ben is due to leave in Episode 6.
