THE SUN:

ROCK legend David Bowie is set to star in Dr Who — as an evil alien abductor.

Producers reckon the Ziggy Stardust singer, now 60, makes a perfect villain because of his “great other-worldly look”.

And he will cross swords with the Tardis’s Time Lord when he kidnaps crime author Agatha Christie — who in real life mysteriously vanished for 11 days in 1926.

Bowie’s willingness to appear in the two-part Dr Who special, to be shown on BBC1 next year, will surprise many of his fans.

Heroes ... Doc Tennant

Although he donned tons of face paint during his glam rock heyday, he has stipulated he will not sit through hours of make-up for the TV show.

And he has often complained that after playing an alien in cult movie The Man Who Fell To Earth, he was only offered roles as “green-headed Martians”.

Bowie, who had a heart attack in 2004, was approached for the part by Dr Who chiefs. They were impressed with his performance as an inventor in 2006 movie The Prestige.

Bowie’s spokesman denied he was involved.

But an insider on the show, which stars David Tennant as the Time Lord, said: “Bowie said he’d be interested as long as he’s not subjected to hours of disfiguring make-up.”

David Bowie has denied reports he is to star in BBC show Doctor Who, rubbishing the claims as "absolute tish and tosh".
Tabloid newspaper The Sun reported that the 60-year-old singer was set to play an evil alien abductor in a two-part special planned for next year.

A statement on Bowie's website says the show's producers previously approached him about a cameo role in the series in the Eighties, but he declined.

Bowie played an alien in the 1976 film, The Man Who Fell to Earth.

According to the newspaper, Bowie had agreed to play an alien who kidnaps crime author Agatha Christie - who in real life mysteriously disappeared for 11 days in 1926.

A spokeswoman for the BBC One show also denied the story.

Last year Bowie voiced a character for cult children's TV series SpongeBob SquarePants and appeared as himself in Ricky Gervais's comedy series, Extras.

That's a shame Bowie would make a brilliant alien, maybe he will change his mind.
