View Full Version : X Factor 2007 - General Discussion
Louis Walsh has defended his X Factor co-star Sharon Osbourne, insisting that it would be a huge mistake to axe her from the judging panel.
Recent tabloid rumours have suggested that Osbourne will not be returning for the show's fifth series, but this has been denied by producers on more than one occasion.
Sharon was also criticised by fans for her behaviour in the first live show of this series, which saw her threatening to quit the programme because two of her acts were in the bottom two.
"She was seriously considering walking away. It was not a publicity stunt," Louis told the News of the World. "But she knew she had to come back for her two acts. It's life, it's real. It's part Jerry Springer. And I stick by Sharon totally. She was loyal to me when I was sacked.
"They can't replace her because there's no-one else like her. And Simon Cowell cannot control her. That's what makes it fantastic telly."
Walsh admitted that he has been disappointed with new judge Dannii Minogue's performance on the show thus far: "She is not picking the right songs for her guys. After 27 years in the business I don't know why she can't pick better ones."
Louis also commented on reports of a feud between Osbourne and Minogue.
"Both want to be Queen Bee," he explained. "Sharon's Queen Bee in my book and Dannii is the new kid on the block. But they've sorted themselves out. I can see them becoming good friends by the end of the series."
Rhydian Roberts is still unhappy about the way he is being treated by X Factor producers.
The singer believes that executives have changed his image to make him look like an oddball on the ITV1 reality series.
"Rhydian feels he has been stitched up by the producers and says they have orchestrated it to make him look bonkers," his singing tutor Michael Barry told the Daily Star Sunday. "He thinks producers have dyed his hair, covered him in pale make-up and dressed him up to make him stand out."
Roberts has previously complained about being set up as the show's "pantomime villain".
Well I dont like, I think he s a good singer and belongs in the west end rather than the X factor, but I do feel sorry for him the kinda press he gets but I have to agree with him, the way he is presented on the show is werid

forget the acts Simon and Louis are the best entertainment like a couple of school girls 'Oh Shut up Louis', 'No you shut up'. If Simon thinks Louis is an idiot why did he bring him back on the show, he missed the banter between him and Louis. I always dislike big band week and yesterday it was justified/ My thoughts on yesterdays performances.
Andy: Lacklustre and no personality, he's got to go within the next few weeks, the weakest on there. 3/10
Leon: To young for that song, but better than the last 2 weeks, still looks way to nervous though. 5/10.
Rhydian: Only he could have pulled this of, I love him, hes so original and amazing. Still think his Phantom of the opera performance last week will take some beating. 9/10
Same Difference; cheesy and annoying better then the first week, but I agree with Louis they shouldnt be in the final rounds. 4/10
Hope: So far there worst performance, the song choice was awful and didnt suit them at all, but they were in tune. 3/10.
Futureproof: I didnt think it was all that bad, I didnt think they should have been in the bottom two, and I thought they were alright. I love Richard. But there attempts at dancing were awful. 6/10
Niki: Her weakest performance so far, not really the sort of genre that suits her but she gave it ago and looked stunning. 5/10
Beverely: Best performance of the night along with Rhydian. She has one amazing voice. 10/10
I think Andy will be next to go.
As he is a trained opera singer I don't think Rhydian should be on X Factor, thought that was for amateurs who then get guided into stardom if they have talent and get through to the finals. Compared to Daniel, who looked uncomfortable before he was voted off because he did not agree with the song, Rhydian does look as if he loves the attention he is getting.
You know what it just says something about the public when we are voting for Same difference, who are really cheesy and sounds like they belong In thr 90's with all the other cheesy pop bands, when Futureproof and Hope ended up in the bottom 2

Grrrrrr I wish Hope went!!! They're so irritating!!!
I feel sorry for Rhydian, he is made out to look bad, but I think most people love it :p I know I do, he's so lovable hah!
As for Same Difference, they're awesome and must defend them :p They're so cute, and love doing what they're doing soo much, which is always good :D. I hope they stay a long way. But I don't think they should be in the final. That should be Rhyd, Bev or Niki :p.
Hope, Leon or Andy next pleaseeeeeeeeee :p.
Oh and I love Louis and Simons banters too. It's funny, I don't care if it is for publicity or something, it would be boring without it.

That Rhi what ever his name is was bizarre lastnight, don't like him much really, i don't really watch it but what iv'e seen he is bizarre
Andy: Boring, and weak. He has no personality, and looks like he doesn't want to be there 4/10
Leon: Best that he's done so far. He's looking more like he's enjoying it, and more confident. He's not the greatest singer in the world, but he's better than a lot of them! 6/10
Rhydian: I love him now! During the auditions, he was awfull, but now, he's a complete legend. He pulled that song off brilliantly, and is really entertaining. I think he'll be like G4 when this comp ends- Very popular, but not overly commercial. 9/10
Same Difference: They're so cute! Very entertaining, and pretty good singers too. It would be good to see them do something a bit different though- maybe slower? 8/10
Hope: These girls need a slap. What have they done to themselves? They think they have it, when they reeally done. Especially the tall one. I might even forgive them for their image, if they could sing. But they cant. The 16 year old is the only one who is faintly good- she's too good for that band. 3/10
Futureproof: It wasn't that bad, but not brilliant either. They're very forgetable, i can see why they went. They're not original either, and lack the star quality of a winning act. Not the worst though 5/10
Niki: I HATE this woman. I really cant stand her. Absolutly nothing about her is appealing to me. She looked like mutton dressed as lamb last night- e.g. DESPERATE. Her singing was pretty good, untill the end of the song. She CANT hit top notes. She's trying to follow in the footsteps of Celien Dion, and people like her. But they can hit the top notes, and not shout them. Niki cant. She sounds strained, weak, and looked a mess last night. And who would buy her single? She's a carbon copy of every other "diva"- theres nothing original about her, and she has no star quality whatsoever. People like Rhydian you look forward to, because they are entertaining and different. Niki is not. ANDDDD... 2 weeks in a row, she missed the top note. Learn ya lesson, and tone down the big notes- She cant do them!! 2/10
Beverly: Wicked performance. Not amazingly original, but she put a bit of her stamp on it, and looked like she was enjoying it. 8/10
Alisha: Well, she couldn't do much worse than the Wino's version, could she?! :p She was actually, pretty good! 7/10
Niki, Andy or Hope should go next.

Hope are just a group of grubby little whores.
I think that comment is a bit harsh, BB!
maybe a bit strongly-worded but i get his point! i have hated Futureproof throughout this; i thought they were boring and hopelessly outdated. but last night's performance was great, the vocals were strong at it was more upbeat and soulful than anything else they've done. Hope on the other hand were all over the place as usual, and last night was definately their worst performance. but oooh look, guess who Simon picks to stay

oh please, do you think Leona Lewis can sing like that without training? she's a graduate from the Brits Academy (which they kept quiet about, and instead promoted the humble telesales worker thing). the only restriction is that you aren't allowed to have to have a current recording contract. although when they have opera people on i often think 'ok, we think they're great, but what do other trained opera people think? are they as good in their eyes?'

i think from the minute those two groups were put together ( all staged) simon had decided he wanted the girl group to win and surprise surprise he gets the groups! he was always going to pick skimpy dressed girls over the lads.

just caught the repeat earlier, no way did either of them deserve to be in the botton two, i couldn't believe it. i was expecting Andy to go, he's so dull. Out of the two though I think Simon should have got rid of Hope, they're just another girls aloud. Futureproof had loads more potential, i liked them.
I know what you mean about Andy he can be quite boring But I think Leon always looks so nervous and on edge

Andy: A pretty poor performance I think. He needs to up his game if he wants to stay in the competition. He lives near me so that's the reason i will keep supporting him. (He's really cute too especially with those puppy eyes!) 5/10
Leon: An ok performance. He seems to be getting more confident. 6/10
Rhydian: Brilliant! I loved his performance. He's unpredictable, he can sing, he can perform - he has everything - he has the X Factor! 10/10
Same Difference: They were pretty good, i thought. I quite like them just because they are different. They are cheesy, but in a good way, i think. 7/10
Hope: They are Hope less! Really awful. It's surprising they didn't show any flesh last night to get the male voters on side...that's the only way they can get through this competition if they impress the males by showing their cleavages! 3/10
Futureproof: They were ok. They really shouldn't have gone though! Hope(less) should have gone! They had a lot more potential and they were better singers, in my opinion. 6/10
Niki: Was I the only person who liked this performance?! I thought it was brilliant! I really like this woman, though i do agree with Abi, she isn't very original but she has an extremely good voice and her performance last night was very entertaining. 8/10
Beverly: Brilliant! This woman really is very talented and this competition is all about her. She really does shine on the stage with her voice and she is a worthy contender to win in my opinion. Her performance last night was outstanding. 10/10
Alisha: Her best performance so far. It wasn't too bad. I think she put a lot more effort into this performance. 6/10
Hope(less) to go next week please! Simon really did seem shocked at the result last night, but i don't understand why. It's a competition - one of his acts have to leave at some point.
Niki: Was I the only person who liked this performance?! I thought it was brilliant! I really like this woman, though i do agree with Abi, she isn't very original but she has an extremely good voice and her performance last night was very entertaining. 8/10
Good to hear someone (partially :p ) agrees with me about her :D
Buttt...
She reallllllly doesn't have an "extremely good voice" :p Leona does, Mariah does, Niki does not. I dont see how anyone thinks she can hit those top notes. It sounds awfull when she tries! Talk about shouting!
:banned:
I really like d Nikkis too, its good that she did something upbeat, rather than ballads all the time

LOUIS: SIMON'S HAD BOOB JOB
By Dan Wootton
TELLY judge Louis Walsh claims Simon Cowell has had surgery to give him the PECS factor.
The Irishman reckons his X Factor co-star has chest implants to look butch and compares his gleaming white teeth to "piano keys".
In fact Louis, 55, says ALL the other judges have gone under the knife. He insists: "They all have new t*ts...and lots of other work done. I'm the only one who hasn't had plastic surgery. Simon's definitely had a boob job. But Sharon has the best surgeon. She's going to give me her doctor's number.
"Honestly, I'm serious. I just want maintenance though, not everything like the others. I want to get really nice white teeth—but not like Simon's piano keys which are not his own."
But Louis reckons it's only Simon's teeth that are whiter than white, saying: "He's more vicious than Sharon and Dannii!"
His own battles with Simon on the ITV1 reality show are legendary but Louis says he refuses to be Cowelled.
"I can get him back for anything he says to me," he boasts. "It's water off a duck's back."
And he gleefully admits the judges' feuds and antics now overshadow the singers.
Clash
He chuckles: "I feel like I'm in a soap opera. What goes on behind the scenes would be the best TV series in the whole world. Anything can happen.
"I think sometimes we're more interesting than the contestants."
However so-called happy slapper Emily Nakanda, filmed on a mobile attacking a girl, stole the headlines last week. Louis backed the decision to boot her out. He fumed: "There is no place for any kind of bullying on X Factor."
But he thinks Sharon Osborne's backstage bust-up with new judge Dannii Minogue was simply a clash of two dominant personalities.
"Both want to be Queen Bee," says Louis, who manages Westlife. "Sharon's Queen Bee in my book and Dannii is the new kid on the block.
"But they've sorted themselves out. I can see them becoming good friends by the end of the series."
However he insists that Sharon's shock on-air resignation was no stunt. He recalled: "I didn't know she was going to walk off. I called her after and she said, ‘Everything just got to me'. She was seriously considering walking away. It was NOT a publicity stunt.
"But she knew she had to come back for her two acts. It's life, it's real. It's part Jerry Springer. And I stick by Sharon totally. She was loyal to me when I when I was sacked.
"They can't replace her because there's no-one else like her. And Simon Cowell cannot control her. That's what makes it fantastic telly."
But he thinks Dannii is struggling. He says: "She is not picking the right songs for her guys. After 27 years in the business I don't know why she can't pick better ones.
Of the current crop he said: "There's four good people in there this year—Rhydian, Beverley, Niki and Futureproof. Niki has an amazing voice. She could win the contest.
But Louis is back to his bitchy best summing up rival Strictly Come Dancing on BBC1. He sniped: "It's just boring. It's for older safe people.
"The judges are boring. They should get rid of them and get young people in. Bruce Forsyth is so old he makes Arlene Phillips look young.
"I definitely don't want her cosmetic surgeon."
------------------------------------------------
So Louis says Futureproof are one of the good people in the show and he chooses to keep hopeless Hope. I really think that he will manage Hope no matter if they win X Factor or not (heres hoping not). Beverly was amazing a great performance and as always the Riddler himself Rhydian i must confessing i'm warming to Danni as a judge and mentor i think she could maybe win this year i don't think she is struggling she is picking good songs

Sharon comments to Ryhidan annoyed me again on Saturday night. Instead of just admitting that his performance was bloddy brilliant she says that he is weird. The comments should be about their singing not personal opinions, you don't see Louis or Danni turning round to Hope and saying oh you look like a load of scrubbers. As much as I like Sharon I wish she would give him the credit he deserves.
hehe it was werid  And most of judges this year keep forgetting about the singing and went on about dancing
Futureproof's Richard Wilkinson has claimed that X Factor contestants Hope "detest" each other.
Wilkinson, whose band were voted off the show on Saturday, argued that the girl group would split as soon as they leave the programme because of personality differences.
He told DS: "We knew right from the start when we were put together at boot camp that no matter what, we knew we would stay together as a group.
"Whereas with Hope, if they get put out of the competition, a couple of the members really do detest each other. Because we've heard them arguing!
"There's no way that if they were put out of the competition that they'd stay together. Raquel would definitely be out chasing a solo career somewhere."
Futureproof lost out to Hope during Saturday's showdown, with mentor Simon Cowell and judges Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne favouring the all-female act.

I believe that. I reckon the same thing. None of them wanted to be in a band, and unlike Futureproof, really didn't adjust well, so I feel.
Last year's X Factor runner-up Ray Quinn has been dropped by his record label after just eight months.
The singer came second in the last series of the reality contest, behind current chart-topping winner, Leona Lewis.
Quinn's debut album topped the chart, but Sony BMG has now decided to take him off its books.
The 19-year-old is reportedly looking at other projects. A source told the Mirror: "Ray is focusing on TV and West End stuff now. TV execs are even saying he could get his own chat show."
Haven't we got enough chat shows on TV already? :hmm: Presently we have Alan Titchmarch, Paul O'Grady, Parkinson etc, all featuring the same celebrities plugging their latest DVD/CD/Play in the theatres etc. Yaaaaaawn.

Kate Moss is 'X Factor' obsessive?
Tuesday, November 6 2007, 10:11 GMT
By Alex Fletcher
Rex Features
Kate Moss' friends have claimed she is an obsessive X Factor fan.
The model reportedly never misses a show and harbours an ambition to appear in the celebrity version.
A source told The Sun: “Kate is a closet X Factor fan. She never misses an episode and records them if she’s out.
"She told Kelly [Osbourne] she does her own X Factor contests at home with her mum, daughter and friends.
"Kate is a wannabe singer who’d love to do what the X Factor finalists do...Simon should sign her up.”
Moss has duetted on tracks with Babyshambles and Primal Scream in the past. She was also given writing credits for four songs on the new Babyshambles album Shotter's Nation

Oh dear. BAD song to give Andy. No one can sing that song apart from Snow Patrol in my opinion! And he ain't great anyway, so oh dear!!
Rhydian doing You Raise Me Up should be good.
Interesting to see Same Difference doing Don't Feel Like Dancing, I wouldn't have imagined them singing that.

I have to agree with Lea with Andy's song choice - i don't know how he's going to pull it off...a pretty hard song to give him and i just can't imagine him performing this! I can only see Snow Patrol doing it! I think he's in great danger this week of leaving, plus none of Dannii's acts have gone yet...so i have a horrible feeling he'll be going next even though i don't want him too!
All the other song choices sound pretty good!

Alisha: 'Put Your Records On' (Corinne Bailey Rae)
perfect!
Hope: 'Back to Black' (Amy Winehouse)

Andy has a hard song to sing this week imo its one of the best songs definatly one of top 3 favs and snow patrol succeeded with this song and i think he may have a challenge because his voice isnt that strong.
I think i'm in the minority but i love Rhydian! I hated him at first and i doubt i would ever by his records but he has the most amazing voice and i loved him singing phantom of the opera and last weeks was good too. I think he was be the best act on sat with this weslife cover.
Afraid i'm not liking the groups at all.
I loved Same difference at the begining but whats with the overload of cheese! I love the song they are singing on sat but it will become very caberet and cringy. they should be adutitioning for west end musicals rather than the x factor and hope dont get me started on them. Not a single one of them can sing and together they are a horrific car crash. Why on earth Simon sent home futureproof i have no idea. He will be regretting his desicion this week. Along with Rhydian and possibly nikki (Oh and even poor daniel who left), they were the only talent in the competition.
Hopefully hope will go!

I don't think you are in the minority Jess - i think most people have taken to Rhydian since the live stages have started - I think he's brilliant anyway, along with Beverley and Niki.
Have to agree about Hope - I do hope they leave tomorrow night, as they are my least favourite act if i'm being honest and Simon's face will be a picture if another group of his goes 2 weeks running! Andy is in grave danger though, i think.
X Factor contestant Andy Williams is thrilled at being voted Heat magazine's 'Torso of The Week'.
The 23-year-old said the accolade was a lifelong ambition (wow, thats some ambition  ) and he was "completely comfortable" with snaps of his toned physique being posted on the internet.
The news provided some welcome light relief in the run-up to this week's live show, in which he will sing Snow Patrol's 'Chasing Cars'.
Andy said he is determined to deliver a strong performance this time around as he was convinced he would be in the bottom two in last Saturday's show.
But although he is sure that this week's track is perfect for his voice, he was concerned that eliminated contestant Daniel De Bourg would object to the use of "his song".
The Welsh hopeful became emotional while listening to the single, saying he is feeling the added pressure of doing a good job for his friend.
The X Factor continues on Saturday at 6.45pm on ITV1.
X Factor hopeful Leon Jackson was forced to see a throat specialist last night after straining his vocal cords.
The 18-year-old impressed judges in last week's big band show, but has struggled with his song choice this time around.
He was prescribed antibiotics after visiting London's Cromwell Hospital and is under strict instructions to rest his voice whenever he can.
Leon, who has battled nerves throughout the competition, is hoping to wow viewers with Toploader's 'Dancing In The Moonlight' tomorrow night.
The X Factor continues on Saturday at 6.45pm on ITV1.
hmm, thats awful when that happens cos you feel sorry for them, im still not sure about Leon
Niki Evans has revealed that she was devastated by Simon’s comments during last week's X Factor.
The mother-of-two was taken out of her comfort zone in the big band show and was distraught when Simon highlighted the fact after her performance.
Although she hid her disappointment at the time, she later admitted that being surrounded by dancers and having a trombone player between her legs had left her feeling vulnerable and embarrassed on stage.
The 34-year-old has vowed to concentrate on her voice this week, and hopes to impress the judges with her rendition of Kelly Clarkson's 'Because of You'.
The X Factor continues tonight at 6.45pm on ITV1.

Leon to goooo this week!!!! :cheer:
X Factor hopeful Alisha Bennett changed her song choice this week because she was terrified that choreographer Brian Friedman would give her a complicated dance routine.
The 23-year-old - the only one of Sharon Osbourne's acts left in the competition - was lined up to sing Beyoncé hit 'Crazy In Love', but felt she needed to concentrate on her singing to stay in the show.
She now hopes Corrine Bailey Rae track 'Put Your Records On' will help her avoid the bottom two for the second week running.
Alisha does not believe she is safe in the contest and feels she has "lost her soul" after receiving negative comments in the first two weeks.
Although she was brought up by her mother to be a strong and confident woman, she said the pressure of performing has left her vulnerable and questioning her abilities.
The X Factor continues on Saturday at 6.45pm on ITV1.
Hmm, I would of liked her to sing the other song, But I think its a great second choice for her

My opinions on tonight's performances:
Andy: I'm really sorry to say this as Andy seems to have a very nice personality but I thought his performance was bad tonight...and it was down to his song choice. 4/10
Leon: He was ok... he got the audience going, he's grown in confidence but doesn't have the best vocal in the world. 5/10
Rhydian: A powerful, moving and beautiful performance. Absolutely exceptional. 10/10
Alisha: Find her bland and boring...her performance was just bland and boring. 4/10
Beverley: A good performance. She tried something different singing James Blunt I think, and it paid off. It wasn't her best performance though. 8/10
Niki: A good vocal, had to agree with Dannii's opinion though...was it a right song choice? 7/10
Hope: Even though I think they are hopeless, I have to admit I thought their performance was quite good tonight. They did singing, instead of flaunt their bodies to attract male voters. They focused on their vocals and it was alright. 7/10
Same Difference: Really liked their performance. It was lively and entertaining, and it really could get me up dancing! They are two great performers. 9/10
My Bottom 2 Prediction: Alisha and Andy
Who I Think's Going Home?: Andy
CrazyLea
10-11-2007, 21:48
Rhydian and Beverley was the best today. Can't believe Beverley was in the bottom 2!!! Glad Andy has gone though, he was the weakest in the competition. Bless him though. Niki's performance wasn't that great, I'm starting to think she may not do it, but we'll see over coming weeks! I was impressed with Same Difference, much better than I had anticipated. Alisha was really good too.
Leon or Hope to go next. I'm not fussed on either of them, they bore me.

I had to go out at 8 last night so missed my lovely Rhydian so I'll be catching the repeat today its going to be him and Niki in the last two I do feel. And I think he'll win it hes been consistenly the best, with his extraordinary vocals and hes a natural performer on stage.
Better from Niki and Hope this week. Andy was awful, he has no personality and should not have been allowed anywhere near the snow patrol song. Alisha's best performance so far for me last night. Oh and please people stop voting for Same Difference it was shockingly bad last night, the vocals were off, the set up was something out of a bad dream.

I think most of my class have been voting for Same Difference - well think they appeal to that age group (8-10 years).
I hope Rhydian gets to the final, but doesnt win it. I think there's a lot more to him, talentwise and being known as the X factor winner, might hamper his chances and limit his opportunities. I think he might be able to make it as a more serious singer, if he doesnt win it. Im sure he has a great career ahead as the darling of the west end.

Hope: Even though I think they are hopeless, I have to admit I thought their performance was quite good tonight. They did singing, instead of flaunt their bodies to attract male voters. They focused on their vocals and it was alright. 7/10
i agree, it wasn't the complete car crash i was expecting and they finally seem to have learnt how to stand in a line! although saying that, only one of them was doing any proper singing- i can't believe she's only 15, and WHY isn't she in this as a solo performer?
X Factor girl band Hope are sleeping in separate bedrooms following a series of rows.
The five singers recently clashed in rehearsals when Charlie Mole claimed that Leah Lauder has "the wrong look for the band".
A source told The People: "Suddenly Charlie lost it, blaming Leah for harming their chances of winning. She said she looked like the odd one out because she was fatter than the rest of them. It was really hurtful to Leah."
Leah was on the verge of quitting the show following the confrontation, but she was eventually persuaded to stay by producers.
"It was touch and go. Producers spent hours trying to talk them down. There was a lot of shouting and tears," the insider explained. "Leah eventually agreed to stay but the situation is highly volatile. She and Charlie no longer speak except when necessary in rehearsals. The producers have had to split them up so they are sleeping in different bedrooms. "
The girls have also rowed on a number of other occasions. Their mentor Simon Cowell is "furious" that they are letting personal differences ruin their chances of winning the show.
Axed boyband Futureproof recently told DS that Hope "detest" each other.
X Factor chiefs have hired a counsellor to help the contestants deal with the pressure of impressing the public every week.
Insiders have revealed that the finalists were "shocked" and "devastated" by Futureproof's elimination from the competition last weekend. Now producers are worried that some of the contestants are struggling to cope with the stress of taking part in the show.
"Morale among the contestants has taken a big nosedive after last week's surprise eviction," a source told the Daily Star Sunday. "Everybody thought Futureproof were safe, so to see them go has really put the fear of God into the other finalists.
"A lot of them have been really struggling with the pressure and the fear is that they're not strong enough to handle it. They now have a counsellor on hand 24/7."
Alisha Bennet's mother Sharon has admitted that she is worried for her daughter after receiving a number of emotional phone calls.
"I am worried for health. She is struggling under the pressure and I think it is starting to get to her," Sharon explained. "I speak to her almost every day on the phone and a few times she has been in tears. Being in the bottom two for the first two weeks really knocked her confidence."

If these lot can't hack it now they've got no chance when one of them wins.

My little sister loves Same Difference and she wants them to win. I think they are a good act for the competition as they cater for a certain target audience and know what direction they are going in - I must admit they aren't too bad and I think they should stay in further, but not actually win the competition.
I think Rhydian does deserve to win in my opinion - his performance last night was absolutlely exceptional - but I feel he should have entered a competition like Any Dream Will Do opposed to the X Factor, as I could see him as a West End Star...opposed to an X Factor winner...no matter if he wins the competition or not, he will definetly get something out of being in the competition as he has such a brilliant voice. I think it'll be down to him, Beverley and possibly Niki in the final.
I couldn't believe that girl from Hope was 15 either! She looks so much older! The arguments they are currently having won't help them at all though - I can see them going in a few weeks, i think..
Im watching the repeat and just saw Hope, I quite like them and thought they were good and well confused for Pheobe I swear she was 16 and now we are being told 15 :hmm:
The only disagreement with last Saturday's result is that I would have liked for Same Difference to go (everytime I see/hear them I want the sick bucket  - they are just not my thing, sorry to the fans out there!) but did not like Andy's performance much either. Well done to all the other acts though, difficult so say right now who will make it to the finals.

Rhydian was on top form Saturday night he blew everyone else out of the competition he has to win. Hope was terrible ruining a brillant Amy Winehouse track they have to go. I knew Andy would go he had a back choice of song.
I'm finding Louis Walsh a hypocrite telling Leon we didn't another Michael Buble wannabe and then Westlife covering a Michael Buble track and releasing a swing album and why he is backing Simon's band Hope they are useless

For once Sharon was complimentary about Rhydians singing and not about his appearence. she even admitted that he would win this competiton. He was brilliant on Saturday night no gimick or fancy fur coats just him.
I don't think that Hope should be ther full stop i mean they werent even entered as a group no wonder they don't get along.
I have to admit Rydian is growing on me i hated him at the start but i can actually bear him now.

'X Factor's Andy refuses to blame Dannii
Monday, November 12 2007, 17:25 GMT
By Nick Levine, Entertainment Reporter
Axed hopeful Andy Williams has refused to blame Dannii Minogue for his X Factor downfall.
The 24-year-old from South Wales was eliminated from the ITV1 talent hunt on Saturday after failing to impress the public with his rendition of Snow Patrol's 'Chasing Cars', a song Sharon Osbourne described as "too rock" for him.
However, Williams insisted that Minogue shouldn't take full responsibility for his ill-advised rock makeover, telling DS: "I did want that song choice though, along with Dannii, so I can't grumble about that.
"She was an amazing mentor. I wouldn't have wanted anyone else because she genuinely cared and was devastated when I didn't get through," he added. "She said she felt absolutely s**t because she feels like she's let me down and crushed my dreams, you know."

X Factor producers have had a row with Strictly Come Dancing over having Kylie perform on their show.
The popstar has agreed to appear on the ITV show's final on December 15 and the BBC dance contest on December 1.
According to The Sun, the X Factor bosses are furious that Minogue is due to appear on the rival show and have tried to reschedule her appearance.
A source commented: "The shows are so competitive. When X Factor found out about Strictly’s plan to get her on the show before them, they told Kylie that she either appears on November 24 or not at all."
A spokesperson for the popstar said: "We are in discussions with both shows."

Kylie: 'Dannii is the only talented judge'
Thursday, November 15 2007, 11:11 GMT
By Beth Hilton

Kylie Minogue has claimed that her sister is the only X Factor judge with talent.
The singer is convinced that Dannii will triumph over Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne to guide her category to victory in the show.
She said: "[Dannii's] so overqualified for the job, really, because she's been performing since she was about seven and she's the only one on that panel... they all have their talents, but she's the only one there who knows what it's like to get up and perform, especially under pressure or [when] you're not feeling well or you're nervous."
She added: "And she's opinionated, which is important when you're among that kind of company."
Kylie is reportedly in talks to perform with one of the last two competitors in the show's final.

'X Factor' singer dumps lover for Leon
Sunday, November 11 2007, 10:03 GMT
By Daniel Kilkelly
X Factor finalist Emily Biggs has dumped her boyfriend in favour of fellow contestant Leon Jackson.
The blonde singer, who is a member of girl band Hope, decided to end her relationship with 19-year-old Louis Hill after growing close to Leon at the X Factor mansion.
A source told the News of the World: "It was definitely love at first sight between Emily and Leon.
"They've been trying to keep things under wraps because of Emily's relationship but everyone on the show is aware of their special bond. Louis didn't want any involvement with X Factor. Emily decided it was easier to virtually cut contact with him. She's now told him that it's over."
Leon admitted that he had feelings for Emily in a newspaper interview last month, describing her as a "lovely, lovely girl".

Im sorry but that is stupid, she can do what she wants, its not like its on the same night
Shayne Ward has claimed that only one of this year’s X Factor finalists has genuine talent.
The 2005 winner, who performed new single 'Breathless' on last week's show, believes opera singer Rhydian Roberts is the only remaining contestant who can hold a tune.
He said: “I think Rhydian will win - he’s the only one of them who can really sing."
However, he added: “I like Beverley. She seems such a nice person and has a good voice."
He also tipped girl band Hope, saying: “And you’ve got five good-looking girls in Hope who can put on a show.”
Record-breaking pop group Girls Aloud have offered advice to this week's X Factor hopefuls.
The all-female five-piece met the seven remaining acts in their role as this week's X Factor celebrity mentors.
Group member Cheryl Cole told Leon Jackson that she "adored him", while her colleague Sarah Harding branded Beverley Trotman's rehearsal performance of 'I'm Every Woman' "absolutely fabulous".
The group then urged Rhydian Roberts not to worry that his performance of 'Go West' might be too flamboyant, telling him to "make it as camp as you can - the camper the better."
"You're a showman, you're entertainment and you bring a classical twist to whatever you sing," the girls assured him.
************
'X Factor' act advised to ignore Louis
Girls Aloud have told X Factor finalists Same Difference to ignore their former manager Louis Walsh.
The pop five-piece were formed on 2002's Popstars: The Rivals - a forerunner of The X Factor - on which Walsh appeared as a judge.
Walsh proceeded to manage the record-breaking girl group until 2005, but Girls Aloud were quick to side with Same Difference in their long-running feud with the pop svengali.
"Louis is going to hate [your performance], so ignore him and put your fingers in your ears," they told the brother/sister duo. "Maybe he's doing you a favour. You've got the 'e' factor – the entertainment factor – so camp it up, because you can get away with it."
Girls Aloud have insisted that they don't feel threatened by X Factor girl group Hope.
The pop five-piece, who have scored 16 top ten hits since forming on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, met Hope in their role as this week's X Factor celebrity mentors.
The established hit-makers told the young hopefuls that "there's plenty of room for a new girl band in the charts", before proceeding to advise Hope on how to cope with unwanted tabloid attention.
"Keep yourselves clean, stay out of trouble and try not to read about yourself in the papers," warned Nadine Coyle. "What you don’t know can't hurt you and most of the time it is all made up!"

X Factor favourite Rhydian Roberts came close to quitting the show this week, according to a report.
The Welsh singer was eventually persuaded to stay in the competition after he confided in friends about the way he is treated by his fellow contestants.
While talking about the other finalists, Rhydian was overheard complaining: "They just take the p*** out of me. They are always doing it. They are making me want to leave the show. I've had enough. I want to quit now."
A source told the Daily Star Sunday: "Rhydian seemed genuinely upset and was moaning that he wanted to pack it all in. He was clearly fed-up and seemed sick of tired of the whole show and the ribbing he gets constantly."

First of only Phoebe can sing and they were wearing multicoloured condoms and sounded terrible.
I really thought Louis and/or Danni would save Alicia.
I do think Louis is planning on managing Hope and thats why he is always giving them great comments. Ok the Spice Girls aren't great vocally but look at their global success so i don't see how he can say they are better than the Spice Girls.
Did anyone else notice Simon say something to Dannii like keep Hope

'X Factor': Alisha Bennett
Monday, November 19 2007, 12:39 GMT
By Nick Levine, Entertainment Reporter
The comeback kid is no more. Alisha Bennett gamely took to the X Factor stage on Saturday surrounded by the shakiest skaters this side of an under tens' roller disco, but her gutsy rendition of 'Young Hearts Run Free' wasn't enough. Dannii Minogue picked up on "a few flat notes", Simon Cowell branded the performance a "complete and utter disaster", and the 23-year-old Londoner wound up in the bottom two for the third time in five weeks. This time, the judges chose not to save her. We hooked up with the thwarted hopeful to find out how she's dealing with the end of her X Factor journey.
How are you bearing up today?
"I'm OK actually. It's all sunk in and I'm back to normal now. I don't want to dwell on it, and I want to try and turn a negative into a positive, you know."
Were you surprised to be in the bottom two this week?
"Not really. I prepared myself to go every week and, with my history on the show, that was no bad thing! I was always ready for it, and actually I was thinking I might volunteer to be in the bottom two this week... only joking!"
You wound up in the bottom two three times in five live shows. Did that knock your confidence at all?
"Definitely. It made me question whether I was right for the competition and whether I was good enough for the competition. So many things go through your mind when that happens."
But you always managed to pull it together and bounce back?
"Definitely. I really feel that I was growing each week. Niki, Beverley and Rhydian have such stage presence and deliver every week on the show, but people like me and Leon are constantly growing because we don't have quite as much confidence."
Your performance on Saturday caused a bit of controversy among the judges. What did you think of the rollerskating dancers?
"Oh I know! When I was given my routine on Tuesday, I went to the dance studio and Brian Friedman said to me: 'Great! You got skaters!' I didn't want to question Brian Friedman, and I was thinking more about what I was doing, not what the dancers were doing. I don't blame anybody, but it just didn't work."
Did you find them distracting?
"Definitely not. When I get up and perform, I get in the zone. That's something I've learned on the show. Maybe a few weeks ago I would have been distracted by them, but not this week."
Simon said Sharon should have axed the skating from the performance. Do you agree with him?
"Well, no. It's true what Sharon said on Saturday - Simon does have the overall hand on everything. For him to say something like that was, you know, a bit of a conspiracy. He watched my rehearsals on Friday - he was there - so if he didn't like it then, he should have spoken up more. But it's neither here nor there really; it's all done now."
Did Sharon have much input into your performance
"Do you know what, she picked my songs, but all she could do was mentor me and tell me how to better my performance and how to own the stage. Overall it's Simon's show and people do forget that."
Do you feel you received enough mentoring from Sharon?
"Oh definitely. Sharon's a very tough lady and she was probably the best mentor for me on a personal level, because I'm a bubbly person and I speak my mind. We worked really well together."
Did you ever argue with her?
"Course not. I was a bit of a cow when I got my songs sometimes, but I'd call her up and she'd just say 'Oh, you'll be fine!'. When you're in this situation, you trust these people because they've been in the business so long. Even though Simon said I was flat on Saturday, I still respect him because he's a good businessman, you know."
Which song choices did you kick up a fuss about?
"I absolutely hated 'Dreams', and I also hated 'Put Your Records On' because I didn't feel that it was me, but people have told me they loved the performance, so you just don't know."
Did you learn much from your time on the show?
"Learn much? I've learned so much about how TV works, and I've learned about myself too. Before the show I didn't know what kind of artist I wanted to be, but when you get put on a show like The X Factor, you really find out who you are. It's made me so much stronger and more confident - I'm not afraid to make love to the camera now! Who knows what I'd have been like if I'd made it to the finals?
What are your plans for the future?
"Well, I've already had a meeting with my agent and he wants to get me some gigs straight away, so hopefully I'll be able to get the ball rolling. Obviously I've got the X Factor tour to look forward to, but I really want to make music my career in the long term. My old job's been kept open for me but I don't want to go back to it. I don't want to look back on my life and say 'shouldawouldacoulda'."
Finally, who are you tipping to win the show?
"Definitely Rhydian. He's one of those people who's so focused and he just doesn't care what people think of him. He's so comfortable in his own skin that he's not afraid to do the camp thing. I'd like to see Beverley or Leon win, because they genuinely are nice people who don't believe in themselves. May the best girl, guy or group win - I wish all of them luck!"
Simon Cowell has been accused of an X Factor conspiracy by Alisha Bennett, the latest hopeful to be voted off the ITV1 singing contest.
Bennett was eliminated from the show on Saturday after Cowell branded her performance of 'Young Hearts Run Free' a "complete and utter disaster".
Cowell proceeded to criticise Sharon Osbourne, her mentor, for failing to remove a troupe of incompetent roller-skaters from the performance.
However, Bennett insisted that the straight-talking judge, who owns one of the production companies that makes the show, had the opportunity to axe the skaters himself.
She told DS: "Simon does have the overall hand on everything. For him to say something like that was, you know, a bit of a conspiracy. He watched my rehearsals on Friday - he was there - so if he didn't like it then, he should have spoken up more… Overall it's Simon's show and people do forget that."
Westlife have revealed that they will perform an exclusive song live on The X Factor this week.
Last week Girls Aloud spoke to the remaining contestants to give them tips and performed their new single on the show.
Mark Feehily told Sky Showbiz: "We're going to perform a track off our album. It's not going to be 'Home', it's just a track - an exclusive performance. It'll be funny singing for Simon (Cowell) and Louis (Walsh). It always is."
The four-piece also revealed their favourites to win the reality singing contest. Mark added: "Beverley has the best chance out of Louis' group and then Rhydian."
Shane Filan agreed: "He's (Rhydian) got personality and character and I think that goes a long way in the music industry."

Ward tired of Leona comparisons
Wednesday, November 21 2007, 12:24 GMT
By Alex Fletcher
Shayne Ward has claimed that he is tired of being compared to fellow X Factor winner Leona Lewis.
The popstar revealed that he is often asked about Lewis during interviews but believes they are completely different artists.
Ward told the Daily Star: "It’s been a couple of years since I won and now the pressure is off.
"I don’t have to prove myself. Leona is doing a fabulous job but my first single did exactly the same thing.
"A lot of people keep coming back to Leona when they talk to me but she’s got her career and I’ve got mine.
"She has Simon Cowell and I’ve got Louis Walsh. We’ve got a great relationship and lots of plans. Next year I’m going to Asia then Australia and after that I have my sights set on America."

Looks a dogy week for Hope and Leon. Can't think of the song that he is singing. The only song I can think called you don't own me is in the film Dirty Dancing! Rhydian will steal the show again with a Barbara Striesand classic
Hope should have gone on Saturday night not Alicia.
Its fair to say Dannii didn't like Hope she was voting to keep the other boyband and now she keeps them end. I don't get it?
Yes i saw Simon say something to Danni but didn't know what it was
I think Hope should have gone also.
Alisha gave a great peformance

Hope - 'Hurt' (Christina Aguilera)
none of them apart from maybe pheobe has nearly strong enough voices to sing that song, methinks there will be a lot of shrieking...

Will new jealous rows tear Hope apart?
The X Factor group fall out - again
23rd November 07
There's been more trouble in the Hope camp. The X Factor band, who are going from strength to strength each week on the show, risk being pulled apart by fighting within the band.
We can reveal that during rehearsals this week, Charlie stormed out in an angry strop because she's annoyed that Phoebe sings lead vocals so often.
Phoebe, who was praised last week by the judges for her performance, was chosen to sing lead again on tomorrow night's show. But the other girls ain't happy. We've heard Charlie even referred to the group as "Phoebe and the Woo Woo girls".
Let's hope Phoebe does well singing Christina Aguilera's Hurt tomorrow night...

I love the song same difference is singing but hopefull they wont camp it up even though it is what they de best lol.
Hope Rhydian will blow us all away as he always does.
Hope.... Hmmm, i'm not feeling this one. The lead girl has a good voice but no where near good enough to sing this. Even if she does pull it off the rest of the girls will bring her back down. The girls really need to sort out harmonies rather than just all 5 off them scream the same lyrics all at once. Its not a good sound. I blame simon who need to show them how to be a group as the girls have no idea and he' too busy drooling
I think Nikki peeked when singing her celine titanic hit and hasnt been on top form since. I think she will ruin a great song.

Niki and Rhydian were the best. I thought Leon was fairly good and Same Difference & Beverley were OK although I didn't enjoy them that much. Same Difference need to cut out the stupid faces they pull. It was Hope's worst performance so far I thought, can see them and Beverley been in the bottom two probably.

Rhydian was the best :cheer:.
Same Difference were really good.
Hope? What was that? They might as well be called Phoebe's Backing or something with Pheobe in. They just stand there going ooooohhh ahhhhhhh ohhhhhhh ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. THEM TO GO PLEASE :D
Bev and Niki were alright.

Same Difference were fantastic tonight - I really liked them and seen a different side to them - I didn't think they were that cheesy tonight at all. Beverley, Niki and Rhydian were all great too.
I can see Hope and Leon being in the Bottom 2, with Hope leaving tonight - that's my prediction anyway..
Rhydian was amazing. I love that song, and he did it brilliantly :)

I think its gonna be bye bye Hope, they messed up big style tonight.
Definately. That girl is a good singer (Dont know her name), but she's not good enough to pull it off solo. They sounded much better at the beginning of the comp, when they sung the majority of it together, or in smaller groups.
I dont rate Beverly much either.

I would have done the same as Sharon. No one can blame her for which one of them went, because it was purely down to the votes. Goes to show that she was thinking more about what the audience like, rather than her personal favourites.
I didn't like either of them much. Hope were worse tonight, but Beverly wouldn't have won the show, she was bound to go at some point.

I thought Sharon's decision would have been easy though to be honest - unless she thought Hope were actually good! A big difference in talent, in the bottom 2 in my opinion, but yeah i suppose she was going with what the public wanted..so I could understand where she was coming from in that respect..
It's just the fact that a first class talent has gone, over an overrated rubbish band in my opinion - the programme was designed around people like her, a person who didn't recognise their talent and didn't know how good they were. I think she had a good chance in winning , even though Rhydian is also a brilliant act - she could have definetly gone to the final, and possibly all the way.

She wouldn't have won though. And even if she did, who would buy her records? Look at the two biggest selling singles this year: Umbrella and Bleeding Love. Would she honestly come close to that? Would Niki? Because i very much doubt that if either of them win/had won, then they would be around for much more than 1 year.
As i've said before, it would be Steve all over again. People like them on the TV show, but buying their music is a very different ball game.

I dont think Hope are rubbish, they're not the best but at the same time they're not exactly rubbish. Girls Aloud are quite similar and they've been successful so why couldn't Hope be?
DaVeyWaVey
24-11-2007, 21:30
I'm saying Hope is rubbish as my personal opinion, everyone else could like them and they could sell loads of records...but the show is based on talent - it's what the show is all about and in my opinion, Beverley has more talent than Hope so Beverley should have stayed as a result.

sorry Davey didn't mean to come across like i was having a go. it'd be nice if more acts like Beverley, Steve, Rhydian etc could be big sellers but i just cant see it happening tbh. There's so much more competition in the Pop/R&B world.

Abi you're saying it as if you know that Beverley wouldn't have sold any recors. Do you have a crystal ball lol? I think that Beverley is very talented, quite contemporary (sp?), with a unique voice, and and I know many people who would buy her records.
As for Hope, sure I understand some people hem, I see where Dave is coming from though, they don't personally appeal to me, but I can see how they would to other people. I don't think we need another girlband though. I know we only really have 2, but in my opinion that's enough.

Just looking at the Top 40 is enough to know she wouldn't have made it
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/singles.shtml
Her music doesn't fit in now a days. She has one type of music she can do really well, i'm not saying she doesn't, but its very 1980's diva, but 2000's chic. Its like Chris said, people prefer a catchy pop/rock/r&b track now. When she tried to pull that off the other week with "You're Beautifull", it didn't work.

24-11-2007, 22:21
Good lord did Sharon have too much Gin in her tonic tonight, why on earth did she pick Hope instead of Beverly. Granted Beverly has her age against her and she probably won't sell many records but look at the black woman who was forth when Shane Ward one she went on to star in the stage musical Chicago. There is no doubt she can belt out the hits and this is a singing competition. I only saw the results show but for what I did see when Hope where on stage there was 5 girls there but only 1 was singing. If they are going to progress they are going to have to pull their socks up and start coming up with the goods and stop relying on a young 15 year old girl to get them through to the final.
You've only heard her sing other peoples songs though. You really don't know what her songs would have been like.
In which case, what is the point in this competition then? They all sing other peoples songs, and thats all we judge them on. A good artist can sing older songs AND modern songs.
Its completly unfeasible to say that "i dont know what her songs would have been like", because of course i dont. But the point is, we dont know what ANY of them will be like. They pick songs that show them off the best, so we can judge them. "You're Beautifull" is the song she chose to show the potential of her voice, and she couldn't hack it. If thats her best, then i can only imagine her worse.
Oh i love a bit of controversy :D
EDIT: ANNNDD... She got the least votes tonight, so what hope does that show that she would have sold lots if she had won?
CrazyLea
24-11-2007, 22:37
Well that's true, we DON'T know what all of them would be like. So how can you say that Bev wouldn't have sold any records. :searchme:.
In my opinion on the song choice You're Beautiful - I thought she did an amazing job, but then I hate it by James Blunt. People who love the song by James would probs hate it by Bev. (How I felt about Niki and Because of You). It's all about person preference, you can't say she wouldn't have sold many records, 'cause you just don't know that.
Yes it went to deadlock. Yes she had the lowest votes. That was for this week though. Last week she wasn't in the bottom 2, so millions of viewers liked her last week, didn't this week - for all we know, if she did a great week next week she might have been in it til the end. It's a catch 22. In my experience, most people go for the song choice anyway - or the judge.
I don't trust phone-ins anyway, I think it's all fixed. Yet I'm still addicted :p.

24-11-2007, 22:41
In Beverley's defence, the public may have not voted for her because they may have been convinced she was safe from going out (she was one of the strongest acts left in the competition)..and besides, not everyone who watches the show, bothers to vote, so there could have been Beverley fans out there that decided not to vote.
To be honest, I would rather buy a record from an artist that has talent..:)
CrazyLea
24-11-2007, 22:43

Im starting to think Same Difference will be in the top 3, God help us all, if they are sure yesterday they were alright, but there so cheesy and stupid, Louis is right if they won the show it would be an absolute traversty. Hope will be out next week, my brother knows Phoebe the lead singer and so is following them, but whilst I think their alright last night's song choice was totally wrong. Rhydian was amazing again, and Niki needed that last night, but her right back to the top of her game again.

25-11-2007, 13:53
I'm not rating Niki at the moment, can't put my finger on it, she is screeching a bit on the high notes and only seems comfortable singing ballads. I wish Louis would make up his mind, Hope were brilliant in his opinion the last couple of weeks, better than the spice girls, now they are rubbish cos they were up against his act. I can see the final 3 being Leon, Rhydian and Same Difference.
I know, Id like to know how many people actually vote
I can't actually see myself buying anything from the contestants that are left in the competition... They all annoy me so much.. Having said that, the only X factor entry that I have bought was Ben Mills from last year.. he should have won...
I so hope that Same Difference will get voted off soon, and then they can go off to Disney World and put their cheesy smiles about there, I don't like their singing, their acts and the way they look. Why are they so popular, I just don't get it? :searchme: Shame that Bev got voted off, I hope she will still be offered a record deal, with a bit more voice coaching she can be brilliant.

'X Factor' faces favouritism claims over Hope
Sunday, November 25 2007, 12:02 GMT
By Daniel Kilkelly
X Factor contestants believe that girl group Hope are receiving special treatment from producers, according to a report.
The remaining finalists are unhappy that Hope have been given extra rehearsal time with choreographer Brian Friedman and the show's vocal coach.
An insider told the Daily Star Sunday: "It seemed as if their mentor Simon Cowell was pulling strings to try and keep them in.
"It could be that - because there are five of them - they need the extra rehearsal time. But the general feeling is that each act should be treated the same, regardless of the number of members. The 'favouritism' certainly ruffled a few feathers with the other contestants."
Hope were in the bottom two for the third time last night. However, Beverley Trotman was voted off when the judges' vote went to deadlock and producers reverted back to the viewer votes.
The source said: "Beverley has impressed everyone but it was still Hope who stayed. Questions will be asked. It was the opportunity to get rid of them once and for all."

X Factor's Sarah seeks girlfriend for Sean
Monday, November 26 2007, 12:37 GMT
By Kimberley Dadds
The X Factor's Sarah from sibling group Same Difference has revealed that she wants to find her brother Sean a girlfriend.
The group is mentored by judge Simon Cowell in the singing competition and is one of five acts still remaining in the contest.
Sarah said of her sibling: "He needs a girlfriend, so I’d like to launch an appeal to find someone who’s up for the job… and ha ha, believe me, it is a job!"
But she also insisted that whomever her older brother dates has to be approved by her first. She said: "I vet all his girlfriends anyway, she needs to have the Sarah nod of approval. If she’s a meanie, I’ll know, and I’ll give him That Look."

X Factor': Beverley Trotman
Monday, November 26 2007, 14:00 GMT
By Nick Levine, Entertainment Reporter
Has your jaw come up from the floor yet? After her rendition of 'Without You' was lavished with praise by all four judges, Beverley Trotman's passage into the final five seemed assured. It was surprising when she wound up in the bottom two, shocking when the judges voted 2:2 to force a 'deadlock' situation, and bury-your-head-in-the-sofa unbelievable when Dermot revealed that Hope had polled more votes than her. We hooked up with the so-called "voice of the competition" to find out how she's coping with her unexpected elimination. Clue: she's not exactly sobbing into her pillow right now.
How are you bearing up today?
"I'm absolutely fine. Last night I presented an award at the BAFTA Children's Awards, and Daniel Craig came on soon after me to do the same, so I was like 'Wooow!' It was a lovely way of getting over Saturday."
Were you surprised by Saturday's result?
"Well, there were only six people left in the competition so I couldn't be too surprised. People have often said to me that I was the voice of the competition, so I did think I might have gone another couple of weeks, if I'm honest. I definitely had another couple of weeks left in me."
You got fantastic comments from the judges again this week. Why do you think your performance didn't connect quite as much with the public?
"Well, perhaps because I was the first on, and perhaps because people thought I'd be safe and didn't need to vote for me. I don't really know, but I would really like to thank everyone who did vote for me."
The first act to perform is eliminated more often than you'd think - it's almost becoming an X Factor curse. How do the producers decide the show's running order?
"I don't know. We do our Friday soundchecks in a planned order, but then it's always liable to change. We find out on Friday evening whether it's changed or not."
When it came down to the bottom two, why do you think Sharon chose to save Hope instead of you? Was she trying to force a deadlock?
"I think so, yeah. I think she thought something else might have happened and it didn't quite work out. I think she thought that I had more votes than Hope, but I don't know. You know what, she's been behind me every week so I don't hold anything against her."
When you found out you'd been eliminated, you thanked Simon almost as much as you thanked Louis. Why was that?
"Because Simon did have a hand in a couple of my song choices, and he always supported me. He mentioned he didn't like my outfit once, but twice he gave me performance of the night and twice he said I made the song really special. He's the main man and he championed me through the show, so of course I had to thank him."
Did Simon advise you a lot through the competition?
"He just helped with a couple of my songs, but Louis was very much hands on. He was always on the phone, asking me if I was happy with the song and how my preparation was going. Then obviously he'd work with me during the rehearsals on Thursday and Friday."
Did you learn much from your X Factor experience?
"Absolutely! I learned a lot about myself, about my singing and about how strong I can be. My confidence grew so much and I really hope this is the start of a new chapter in the life of Beverley Trotman."
Do you wish you'd done anything differently?
"No. Hindsight's a great thing, but what is the point? I'm happy with the decisions I made at the time."
Was there any song you really didn't want to sing?
"I really wasn't sure about 'You're Beautiful', the James Blunt song, but everyone's told me that I did a really good job with it. James Blunt sent me a signed CD afterwards so it wasn't all bad!"
What's your plan now? Are you going to return to teaching?
"Well, I'm taking a year or two out now, so I'm really looking towards theatre, children's TV, choirs and just anything that might come my way. I'm really open-minded about it all - I'm so excited by whatever the next challenge might be!"
So The X Factor really has changed your life?
"I think so. I passed by KFC yesterday - don't tell anybody - and as soon as I walked in everybody rushed up to me and said 'We love you! You were robbed!' It really made me smile and realise it was all worth it."
Who are you backing to win now?
"It's a difficult one, because I never knew how competitive Simon is. When he's judging someone else's contestant, he always puts a negative comment in there however positive he feels about the performance. He just has to do it! There's actually a possibility that Hope might be in the final now. I'd love for Niki to win, but I don't think she will, because I think Rhydian and Leon have the edge at the moment."

Kylie: 'Simon and Dannii have chemistry'
Tuesday, November 27 2007, 13:40 GMT
By Kimberley Dadds
Kylie Minogue has claimed that there is definitely some chemistry between her sister Dannii and her fellow X Factor judge Simon Cowell.
Ever since the Australian singer took up the role of judge on this year's X Factor series there has been speculation about the relationship between Minogue and Cowell.
Last week Simon was photographed holding Dannii's hand and now her sister Kylie has speculated about a possible romance, saying: "Why wouldn’t Simon fancy Dannii?
"If I’m not mistaken there is definitely a little fizzle there."

This year's X Factor champion will bid for the Christmas number one spot with 'When You Believe', a song made famous by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.
Songwriter Stephen Schwartz has tweaked the song's lyrics especially for the winner of the ITV1 talent show.
Carey and Houston recorded 'When You Believe' as the theme song for The Prince of Egypt in 1998. It went on to reach number four in the UK singles chart.
The X Factor champion will release 'When You Believe' on December 17.

I am in shock that Beverly left the competition my jaw fell to floor when i watched the sunday repeat.
I saw Hope performance and i did not think it was anything special, i do not really listen to Christina Aquerilla but one thing is for sure is that girl can sing and i actually really like the song `Hurt`i think the lyrics are very sad and powerful.
I am disappointed that Simon Cowell choose a song like this for the group for one i think its a one person ballad not a 5 piece? i also think by giving this type of song to a group of 5 eliminates the other 4 with them being stuck with doing harmonies and not being able to show off there talents as a group.
While i think Phoebe has a okay voice i thought that song was to big for.

This week's songs!
Week 15 Live show 7 - two songs each!
UNION JACK TRACKS
The final five take on tunes that made Britain great... that's two tracks per artist for the audience - not the judges - to cast their vote on!
HOPE WE WILL ROCK YOU
HOPE 2 BECOME 1
LEON THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD
LEON CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE
NIKI TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART
NIKI FIELDS OF GOLD
RHYDIAN SOMEBODY TO LOVE
RHYDIAN I VOW TO THEE MY COUNTRY/WORLD IN UNION
SAME DIFFERENCE WAKE ME UP BEFORE YOU GO GO
SAME DIFFERENCE ANY DREAM WILL DO
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
so what do we think?
i think both of Hope's are atrocious and this will hopefully be the final nail in the Hope coffin.
Leon will be really good at The Long And Winding Road but i'm a bit wary at Crazy Little Thing- why are they trying to turn him into Ray anyway?!
Niki should be able to cary Total Eclipse
Rydian will rock Somebody To Love right out of the park, can't wait! i don't know the other one alas, or maybe i do but just don't know the name

'X Factor' group hit by conflict
Friday, November 30 2007, 12:47 GMT
By Nick Levine, Entertainment Reporter
Brother/sister duo Same Difference have been plagued by tension as they prepare for their seventh X Factor live show.
Sean Smith became annoyed when his sister Sarah went out for dinner on Sunday night, the day before they were due to record the X Factor winner's single, their version of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston's 'When You Believe'.
He was particularly concerned that his sister had failed to perfect the group's harmonies for the song.
Sean also became frustrated when Sarah refused to tidy her room in the X Factor house, insisting that her messy surroundings will "clutter her mind".
However, Sarah remained defiant in the face of her brother's badgering, saying: "My mind's not cluttered and why should I tidy [my room]? It's my room! And if I didn't spend all my time cooking, cleaning and washing for you, I would have time to!"

Yeah, those are good choices for Rhydian - he is a natural showman, so should carry off the Queen/Freddie number with ease.

Sometimes I don't know where the judges get their comments from.
I don't know how Dannii thought Niki's performance last week was out of tune the whole way because I've listened to it a few times and although there was a few off notes, on the whole it was fantastic.
Loved Louis' comment about Dannii's songs being out of tune.

I apologise to No Difference (Sorry) Same Difference fans but to both performances tonight....

Really good show tonight, loved the judges being at each other's throats and most of the performances.
Leon really is the dark horse of the competition I think, his performances have improved so much and I loved his second performance especially, I hope he is back next week. Niki was also brilliant as usual and she deserves to be back next week, Same Difference did a fantastic performance of Any Dream Will Do but their 2nd performance was way too cheesy for my liking. Rhydian was exceptional as he always is and Hope (Well i'm sure you all know what I'm going to say about them. :D ) but i think they should go tonight, not only because I thought their performances were poor, but also because I want Simon Cowell to lose one of his acts. :)

i think Same Difference will make the final; think about it- is Simon Cowel really going to let all his acts go and let Danni have 2 people in the final?
and i wish Louis would stop saying Same Difference don't have talent! they have never sung out of tune, fluffed their word or missed a dance step! what's more with their huge routines they're working a lot harder than anyone else who just stands there and sings...
I'm pleased Hope have gone. Niki next!

Hope clashed with Niki over housekeeping
Sunday, December 2 2007, 12:01 GMT
By Daniel Kilkelly
Girl band Hope clashed with their fellow X Factor finalist Niki Evans in rows over housekeeping this week.
The group, who were eliminated from the competition last night, found themselves caught up in arguments about the state of the mansion that the contestants share. The house is believed to be full of dirty dishes and saucepans, while the toilet is also in a poor state.
A source told The People: "That place is a house of horrors. You wouldn't expect the Sex Pistols' trailer to be like that. It's like a pigsty."
The situation caused tension when Niki lost her temper with Hope's Charlie Mole for using her cooking set. Charlie's bandmate Emily Biggs wound Niki up further by hiding her saucepans in the bathroom.
An X Factor spokesman said: "If they want to live in a dump it is up to them. We are aware that there has been tension."

'X Factor': Hope
Monday, December 3 2007, 15:08 GMT
By Nick Levine, Entertainment Reporter
The great survivors are gone. After three visits to the bottom two in the last four weeks, Hope finally bowed out of The X Factor on Saturday. Although Louis praised the group's "brilliant image", Simon insisted that their performance of '2 Become 1' "wasn't good enough", and the girls' rousing rendition of 'We Will Rock You' wasn't able to buy them another week. Had the constant fight to stay in the competition burned out their excitement, as Dannii suggested? Raquelle 'I Did The Splits At Boot Camp' Gracie and Phoebe 'Big Old Lungs' Brown gave us the lowdown.
How are you feeling today?
Raquelle: "We're cool. Obviously it's a big change for us - we've been living in the X Factor house for three months, so we're missing it now that we've left, but we're really looking forward to the future."
Was Saturday's result a shock to you?
R: "Not really. Of the five remaining acts, we were the only ones to have been in the bottom two, and we'd actually been there three times. We were kind of expecting it, to be honest. You know, one of our performances was strong, and the other was only OK, whereas the others all had two sensational performances."
Phoebe: "We all saw it coming, so we just tried to prepare ourselves and make the most of our last week, really."
Why do you think '2 Become 1' didn't turn out to be one of your best performances?
R: "I actually we think we did as good a job as we could have done with '2 Become 1' - it's a very difficult song to sing. It's a real pop ballad, so maybe it didn't come up trumps against something as powerful as 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart', which Niki sang."
After you performed it, Dannii said she felt you were "fighting rather than [showing] the excitement of being together which we saw in the beginning". How did you feel when she said that?
R: "She's absolutely right that we were fighting and that we're survivors, but I didn't think we'd lost our early excitement. We were all really excited to be on stage, but if she didn't feel that came across, well, we respect that."
It's been reported that the group fractured a little when Phoebe was asked to sing lead on 'Hurt' last week. Is there any truth to these rumours?
R: "Absolutely not! We've all been totally supportive of each other. When Phoebe was given the lead vocal on 'Hurt', we were pleased because she's the one who sounded best on that song. That's how we do it - whoever sounds best on a particular track gets to sing the solo. You know, we had to be there for Phoebe because she's only 16 and it was a lot of pressure for her to sing lead."
P: "For me, it was a lot of pressure, but all the girls were really supportive and I just did my best with it. It was really nerve-racking when I was standing there waiting to go onstage - I was shaking my little boots off! - but I tried to be as confident as I could."
Will Hope stay together in the long-term, do you think?
R: "We are definitely, definitely going to stay together. We've all come out of this competition with four new best friends... We're so strong now, because there's nobody else in the world except for us who knows what we've been through together."
P: "We're doing lots of gigs at the moment, and then we're going on the X Factor tour. After that we'll just have to see what happens. We're going to keep working at it, you know. We're definitely, definitely staying together."
How did you find Simon as a mentor?
R: "Simon's been a great mentor. He's a very busy man, but he's always been there to support us and lift us up when we've been feeling down. We'd see him every Friday, and we'd speak to him during the week if we were unhappy with our song choices. He'd just want to see the finished product really, and if he wasn't happy with it, he'd change it. That was fine with us - we always respected his opinion because he's a very successful man."
There's been a suggestion that Same Difference are Simon's favourite act this year. Did you ever pick up on that?
R: "Not at all. He gave us all equal treatment and helped us all equally. Same Difference are great - we wish them all the best for the rest of the competition."
What's the atmosphere like in the X Factor house as the final approaches?
R: "It's getting more and more tense every week because we're getting really close now. But we're five girls who stick together, and we had the top floor all to ourselves, so it was always a great laugh for us. We didn't sleep - we were up all night talking and messing around!"
P: "We want Rhydian to win now. He's so dedicated, he works really hard and he's always been such a sweetheart to us, so he's the one we're backing."
Is it true that Hope weren't quite as tidy in the kitchen as Niki would have liked?
R:"That's absolutely not true! We love Niki. She cooked a massive Christmas meal for us the other week, and we cleaned up afterwards. That's how it worked. You know, we didn't really eat much in the X Factor house except for soup. We'd go out for meals or get takeaway pizza, so how could we be messy?"
What have you learned from your time on The X Factor?
P: "I've learned that it's a hard, hard industry. I've also learned to be strong and not read everything that's in the papers, because it's better just to focus on what you're doing. Most of that kind of stuff turns out to be lies anyway."

Dannii determined to beat "catty" Louis
Sunday, December 2 2007, 11:27 GMT
By Daniel Kilkelly
Dannii Minogue has vowed to get revenge on her fellow X Factor judges by making sure that one of her acts wins the competition.
The Australian pop star has faced criticism from co-star Louis Walsh, who regularly questions her ability as a mentor. On last night's show, he went a step further and claimed that she had never had a hit record.
Meanwhile, there have been several reports of backstage tension between Dannii and Sharon Osbourne, and she has finally admitted that they do not get along.
"It would be so great to win," Dannii told the Sunday Mirror. "I most want to beat Louis. When Simon says girl judges are the cattiest, he means Lou-Lou. He even said Kylie can't sing. That was unforgivable.
"As for Sharon, you don't click with everybody. But it's her choice not to be friends. Apparently she's envious because I'm younger and prettier."
Dannii has said that she is enjoying her time in the spotlight following years of being compared to her sister.
"I'm quite fluttery with happiness," she revealed. "I've finally been accepted as me. It's a fantastic opportunity, for once, not to be compared with Kylie. At last, I've found my own slot."

but does no one think that all this years finalists are really weak?
Niki - as much as is think she is fab and the true star of the show - she has a niche market and cannot hope to be as sucessful as leona
same difference - once this is over they will rule teh disney channel and be very hip with the tweenies but will not have a major pop career
rhydian - also very niche - will be a big star in musicals not the pop industry
leon - cute but very forgettable

There were better singers at boot camp that got turned down. There has been a lot of week acts in this year's competition but last year was pretty poor as well. The best year was when Shayne Ward won as there was more competition on who was going to win.

Lets wait and see whether Leona can sustain her success, most X Factor/Pop Idol etc. finalists/winners have a couple of successful records and then you rarely hear from them again. I agree with your comment on Same Difference though and will be glad, never to hear them or of them again. :wall:
Louis: I want botox!
The X Factor judge thinks he needs it next to the other judges
Louis Walsh has decided he needs botox - because the other three X Factor judges have had it.
'I'm the only person with my own tits and teeth,' says Louis. 'I haven't had anything done yet, but I will - botox probably. I have to start thinking about it because I want to look good next to those three.' One word, miow.

Rhydian: 'I'm straight and a virgin'
Thursday, December 6 2007, 09:54 GMT
By Alex Fletcher, Entertainment Reporter
X Factor contestant Rhydian Roberts has denied rumours that he is gay and has also confirmed that he is still a virgin.
The singer claimed he has no problem with people assuming he is gay, but added that he is "100%" straight.
He told the Mirror: "If people are assuming that I am gay, or whatever, that is fine.
"They don't know me and I dress quite camp. But I can say categorically that I am 100% straight."
Roberts revealed that his Christian beliefs are the reason behind his decision to not have sex before marriage.
He commented: "That is not saying that I can't have fun with a lady. I love the company of women.
"I have been offered sex, like most men. But if you believe in something you can't compromise. But I am only human and you can fall short. At the moment, my priority is singing.
"I am not a closet Christian. If someone asks me about it, I will talk about it. I do pray on Saturdays but then I pray every day. But what will be will be, it's God's will and that is a great mental attitude to have."

I'd like Leon to win as it will be a little bit unpredictable

Aww Same Difference's story actually made me want to cry :p Spesh when Sarah started crying after their performance.
I want Ryhdian to win (obv :p). But don't mind if SD do. Leon bores me, so hopefully not him to win.

I was sooo routing for Niki to win - she was fantastic and didn't use any gimmicks. Listen to her rendition of "All That Jazz" again, when she hits the final note it makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end.
Predictions for Final:
3rd Place:- Same Difference
2nd Place:- Leon
Winner:- Rhydian

I really liked Nikki too. Thought she was fab. My fave performance from her was "My Heart Will Go On". But I loved them all tbh.
My prediction is;
3rd - Leon
2nd - Same Difference
1st - Rhydian

Is anyone watching The Xtra Factor? Only 6% on the public think the final three are the right three.

No I'm not :(. But really?. Who do they think shouldn't be there? SD?

I dunno.
The question was "Out of the original 12, do you think the right acts are in the final three?"

Oh right.
I think the final 3 should have been Rhyd, Bev and Niki.

To be honest, I don't think the final 3 are representative of the highest talent that Britain can provide.

I agree. Without a doubt Niki should have been in the final three.
