View Full Version : Airports
What airport do you use the most? What do you think of it? Whats your fav airport?
I use London Gatwick the most. Which is rather annoying, as i live very very close to London Heathrow. I quite like Gatwick though, it has a lot of services, so if you get delayed, then theres loads to do still. Heathrow is the better airport, because its bigger, but its generally only long-haul, buisness, or inter-UK flights. London Gatwick is more commercial.
Manchester, really convenient and the only one i use really as it goes the majority of places plus inter UK, it also goes TO Knock in Ireland which is dead close to my family. The terminals are quite close together and there is loads of things to do in delays.
Used Liverpool John Lennon once, put its a pain to get to from me.
Naturally I use Dublin Aiport most.. it is a nice enough airport, not many delays.. Cologne airport is better and bigger. Frankfurt has too many checkpoints (4 in total and i have to strip the kids down every checkpoint)..
We normally use Edinburgh Airport as it's closer to us then Glasgow Airport. But if need's be we do use Glasgow. I Think Edinburgh is my favourite as it is quite big. But i can't say as i can't really remember anything about Glasgow.
I like Hannover Airport in Germany. It's all glass fronted and leather seats and its really nice. It's all on one level unlike Newcastle which has some gates down flights of stairs.
Like Tannie I usually use Edinburgh. Glasgow is much bigger - it has grown enormously over the past few years and is an excellant airport and has heroic baggage handlers such as John Smeaton!
This summer I had the huge misfortune to be travelling through Glasgow Prestwick airport. For those of you south of the border, Prestwick is about 40 miles from Glasgow.
The terminal building is decorated with a stickman logo of a man in a 'see you jimmy' tartan tammy. Beside this is the phrase 'Pure Dead Brilliant!' This phrase also decorates the uniform of staff working in the airport.
This must have sounded like a great idea in some primary school business enterprise class.
Tacky, you wouldn't believe it!
I went to Preswick via Ryan air.. such a small drab airport... haven't been to the main glasgow one

I like Tannie and Trinity I normally use Edinburgh Airport whenever possible but if not I use Glasgow. Glasgow is bigger and have more destinations to choose from but Edinburgh is offering more locations and its a fairly good size.

We use Schipnhol in Amsterdam..its nice and has a museum on premises.. has plenty of shopping,,,especially for those who have to make international flights..:)
I love O Hare International in Chicago, Ill...cos it takes me right HOME :D
Have been to Zurich,Switzerland, Brussels, Belgium
both of them are pretty nice places but boring ..too many exclusive and expensive shops,, ( has a Caviar deli LOL )
Hmmm airports, I just dont like them. The food is expensive and theres a certain smell that airports tend to have, i really dont like or maybe its just me.
WE dont really use one airport. we just go whevever we can, depends. Mind you the airport in rhodes is soo small but its very busy
What's an airport? :rotfl: Never been on holiday in my life, but I'm petrified of heights so it's probably a good thing I've never had to set foot inside an airport.

Heathrow, though I think Gatwick is closest to me :)
Prestwick is to Scotland what Shannon is to Ireland.
Both were designated by government as international gateways in areas of high unemployment. All International flights entering or leaving the two countries had to enter and leave via these two points hopefully generating money for the local economy. Fortunately that has now changed as regards Prestwick which is like a timewarp of the sixties.
Most Aer Lingus transatlantic flights call at Shannon on either the outward or inward leg of the journey
The airports I use most are Belfast International or Dublin.
I would have to say that my most favourite airports would be Atlanta in USA and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia
i live just down the road from manchester, i have always used that one, just because where i go to there are direct flights. i have to say it's the best one ive been to shopping wise, but maybe not the prettiest!
We use gatwick most, although heathrow is closer to me
I mostly use Manchesters, excpet been to Gatwick and Heathrow, Liverpool John Lennon, and Birmingham.

Heathrows got the best shops :p Wouldn't like to go to Terminal 5 though!! Gatwick is good. Stanstead is awful, always the early flights and it takes an hour to get there! I call it the flatpack airport  Been to Luton once. It was after the 9/11 attacks and there were police patrolling the airports with huge machine guns! :S
Ive been using Manchester more recently, though last time I went most of the shops were closed, it felt empty!!
Hmm for me It's more the airlines not the airports that make the flight part of the trip...you could be stuck with sleezyjet and have an awful flight, or go with a good airline with a good reputation and have a good flight.
Although I must admit, nosying around in the shops is always a bonus.

Although it can have its disadvantages - 'last call for flight....' That's happened once or twice to us

Lmao! My Geography teacher calls them that! He calls Heathrow Thiefrow too! I've never been on a plane; my Geography DME was on airports though.
Well i am from Sweden so i have only used Arlanda Airport, it takes almost an hour getting there because i live in the city. Well they have really great security even if the security is quite irritating i know it is really important, but when you cant take a big can of hairspray on the plane, i mean do any of us look like terrorists,?.
Anyone ever been to Sweden,Stockholm?......
Why would you need a big can on hairspray on the plane? Wouldn't a little one do?
You can't tell a terrorist just by looking at somebody.

For me i have very very curly hair, my mother also has very curly hair and we are both allegric to hairspray wich contains perfume, so it is quite hard to go abroad the, but we bouth many little cans so that was ok.
