Wednesday 22 August 2007
PCs Tony Stamp (Graham Cole) and Will Fletcher’s (Gary Lucy) morning is interrupted when a car comes screeching to a halt alongside them and Shirley Gould (Jackie Morrison) bursts out, screaming that her husband David has been kidnapped.

She tells them that three armed kidnappers took him to his family jewellery shop, Goulds, in order to rob it. CO19 are informed and burst into the shop to discover David has been shot and his brother Howard (David Bamber) bound and gagged. Howard informs DI Neil Manson (Andrew Lancel) who is angry that informant Tommy Quinn (Dermot Crowley) told him about the robbery too late, that the robbers got away with half a million pounds worth of jewellery. Neil tells DC Jo Masters (Sally Rogers) that he believes it may have been an inside job and his theory is supported when he is informed that Howard is in serious debt.

When the team discover Howard was assaulted in the shop a few days before the robbery by a man called Carl Fraser (Stuart Bowman), Superintendent John Heaton (Daniel Flynn) suggests a search of his house which uncovers a rucksack full of jewellery and he is arrested. Carl is adamant he had nothing to do with the robbery and says the jewellery isn’t from Goulds jewellers.

During the investigation, DCs Mickey Webb (Chris Simmons) and Terry Perkins (Bruce Byron) tell Heaton they have identified two other suspects in the robbery as father and son duo, Pete (Nigel Harrison) and Steven Wallace (Sean Ward). When Terry and Mickey find the BMW that belongs to the Wallaces, they also discover the stolen jewellery and on their way out, they are stopped by Steven who holds a gun to their heads…

Elsewhere, Neil is forced to release Carl when his alibi is confirmed and is sickened to discover that his informant Tommy has double-crossed him. Neil and Jo desperately make their way to the airfield before Tommy can escape…

Also, Sun Hill officers are intrigued when a drunken Monica Dreyfuss (Eglantine Rembauville) demands to see DS Phil Hunter (Scott Maslen) when she is picked up by the police for not being able to pay for her restaurant bill. Phil, doing a secret favour for casino Louis Dreyfuss (Michael Brandon), becomes her knight in shining armour…

Thursday 23 August .

PCs Sally Armstrong (Ali Bastian) and Emma Keane (Melanie Gutteridge) respond to a call where worried mother Julianna Fortune (Judith Jacob) tells them her son Clayton (Jacob Anderson) is missing. Clayton’s friend, Estelle Makobi (Adelayo Adedayo) plays them a voice message he left in the early hours of the morning saying he had been beaten up.

While on patrol, PCs Reg Hollis (Jeff Stewart) and Beth Green (Louisa Lytton) ******KIDDIECOP ALERT***** find a badly beaten and disorientated Clayton stumbling out of an underpass. He is taken to hospital where after much persuasion, he confesses to Sally and Emma that he was attacked and raped: he begs the officers not to tell his friends or deeply religious mother.

Clayton tells them he was at a club the night before, when he was approached by a man who flirted with him. CCTV shows Clayton’s friends Lucas Makobi (Troy Glasgow) and Theo Sankara (Ashley Chin) start a scuffle with the man and then leave. The man is soon identified as Keith Harkness (Christopher Fox) who, when questioned claims that it was Clayton who came onto him and swears he had nothing to do with the attack.

Sally goes back to the hospital to talk to Clayton where he shamefully admits he asked Keith to meet him in the underpass and that his friends would kill him if they knew. After reviewing the evidence, DI Neil Manson (Andrew Lancel) starts to believe that Clayton’s friends might have attacked him – the club owner claims they were mocking Clayton in the club about being gay and they lied in their statements about the time they left the club.

Neil arranges a raid on Theo and Lucas’ homes but only Theo is caught. He tells Neil that that he had been friends with Clayton for years but stopped meeting up with him when Lucas moved into the area. When the interview is interrupted with the news that Lucas’ blood was found in the underpass, Neil is determined to capture him.

Later Sally and Emma later turn up at Clayton’s house to tell him his friends are the main suspects in the case and when his confused mother Julianna overhears, Clayton confesses to her that he is gay and was raped. Distraught by her disgusted reaction he storms out, leaving Sally and Emma to talk to Julianna. They are soon disturbed by a cry outside where they find Clayton standing on a balcony ready to jump…
