An official game based on the live-action movie Alvin and the Chipmunks is to be launched to coincide with the film's release next month.
The live-action movie, which will open nationwide at cinemas on December 14, will star James Lee and feature CGI characters Alvin, Simon and Theodore.
The game promises to expand on the movie's storyline, as the trio go on a mission to play during the battle of the bands event 'Rockathonapalooza'. Featuring musical levels, from the school proms to the forest arenas, the idea of the game is to keep in rhythm with the music with tracks including 'All The Small Things', 'It’s Tricky', 'Heartbreak Hotel' and 'Shiny Happy People'.
“This holiday, Alvin, Simon and Theodore have been entirely redesigned with a bold new look for the launch of their first live-action film and videogame debut,” said Ross Bagdasarian, CEO of Bagdasarian Productions.
The Alvin and the Chipmunks game will be released for Wii, PS2, DS and PC.

Christina Applegate, Anna Faris and Amy Poehler have formed a high-pitched vocal trio for a new family movie.
The actresses will voice singing rodents The Chipettes in the Alvin and the Chipmunks sequel, which will open at Christmas.
Faris has confirmed the casting news, revealing, "I’ve been having a blast."

Aw Theo and his brothers are getting girlfriends. Hope it's as good as the first movie.
Anna Faris, Christina Applegate and Amy Poehler have been confirmed as the Chipettes in Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.
Putting an end to last month's speculation, the trio of stars will lend their voices to the all-female rival band of Alvin, Simon and Theodore's in the forthcoming sequel.
Faris told MTV: "I’m a Chipette! And they make my voice sound even more annoying than it already is."
However, the 'House Bunny' actress also admitted that the filmmakers have prevented her from singing in the picture, opting to go with studio musicians instead.
"They’re not letting me sing," she added. "That’s how bad my voice is. They won’t even let me be a Chipmunk singing. Not to worry because [The Chipettes] do sing."
The follow-up to Alvin And The Chipmunks arrives in the US on December 25 and in the UK on December 26.

When I had Marley at the hospital for her fingers, they had the dvd on in the A&E all the kids were watching it and all the parents looked because they had seen it that many times.
