corrie drug shocker!!

Coronation Street has filmed scenes for a controversial new drug story line and producers are getting concerned that there could be a backlash from some viewers about the plot.

In the show, seven-year-old Bethany Platt (played by twins Amy and Emily Walton) will be seen swallowing a Class A ecstasy tablet while being babysat by her teenage uncle David when she mistakes it for a sweet.

When she has a fit, David calls 999 in a panic. Her mum Sarah will then be warned that she may not survive or could face brain damage.

David will be told he could face a manslaughter charge, but now ITV bosses are preparing to get mixed reactions from their viewers.

They have fears the scenes could upset people when Bethany is seen lying unconscious in hospital.

A source from the show said: "The decision to pursue this wasn't taken lightly. It will make dramatic TV. The big question is: will she pull through?"

I was wondering what was gonna happen with bethany when Sarah leaves, I hope she survives though, and I think this could be quite a good storyline

wow, that would be an amazing storyline
i think it would be the final thing to make sarah leave the family home, and they do need to take it to some sort of climax with david.

It should be a good story as long as it is handled carefully and realistic. I don't think Bethany will die but it could lead to Sarah taking her well away from David.

think it will all be to hard hitting if she did die, but gives way for sarah to leave doesnt it! wonder if jason goes too?>

This sounds like a good storyline but don't want Bethany to die. David is so off key at the moment and there are other rumours he prestends to sleep with the girl next door who wants to be a copper. Wouldn't surprise me if he did gget involved in drugs but then wondered how many times Sarah asks him to look after Bethany on his own anyway??

yeah i imagine Gail will go completley loopy when she finds out about this. I think it is a good storyline when acted properly, i remember a long time ago, they did it in Hollyoaks.

It was done a few years ago as a storyline in an Irish Soap Fair City and the child died
