Just heard on the news that Mike Reid has died. Best known for playing Frank Butcher

Former EastEnders actor Mike Reid has died at the age of 67.
The actor - who played Frank Butcher in the BBC soap - died after suffering a heart attack, his agent said.

He was living in Spain at the time of his death.

Mr Reid started out as a stand-up comedian in clubs and on cruise liners.

He also appeared in TV shows including Steptoe and Son, Doctor Who, Worzel Gummidge and Minder.

Very sad and shocking news. I know he wasn't tip-top health wise, but this is totally out of the blue.

Frank was great in his first stint. Never liked him when he came back after going AWOL.

My thoughts go out to Mike's friends and family at this terrible time.

Mike Reid, who played EastEnders' Frank Butcher, has died aged 67.

Mike Reid (http://www.bbc.co.uk/eastenders/characters_cast/cast/cast_mike_r.shtml) joined EastEnders in 1987. His character, second-hand car salesman Frank Butcher (http://www.bbc.co.uk/eastenders/characters_cast/characters/character_frank_b.shtml), was soon one of the most popular on the show.
Although Frank later married Peggy (http://www.bbc.co.uk/eastenders/characters_cast/characters/character_peggy_m.shtml), it was Pat (http://www.bbc.co.uk/eastenders/characters_cast/characters/character_pat_e.shtml) who was his first and true love. On one occasion, Frank attempted to win back Pat's heart, by turning up naked but for a comedy bow tie.
Frank left Walford after Peggy threw him out for rekindling his romance with Pat, but Mike returned to the show in 2002 and 2005, to play the character again.
It is thought that Mike suffered a heart attack. He was living in Spain at the time of his death.
