Robbie Williams has been in talks to star as Captain Kirk in an upcoming Star Trek movie, according to reports.

The 'Angel' singer voiced Dougal in animated movie Magic Roundabout in 2005 and has been offered a number of film roles ever since.

So far he has turned down a series of parts, but he is said to be a big Star Trek fan and is keen to revive Kirk.

Lost creator JJ Abrams said about him: "I think he'd be quite a good Captain Kirk. The Kirk in my movie is quite young, it's the early years."

Love Robbie but NO!!! There is only one Captain Kirk and Robbie ain't it.. they shouldn't even make a movie where Kirk is young... that is just wrong wrong..

no way should Robbie be in this movie

Zachary Quinto (Heroes villian Sylar)and Leonard Nimoy are confirmed for Star Trek film to both play Spock.

James McAvoy is rumoured to be playing Scotty

Ryan Reynolds would be a good choice for Kirk

Why remake a classic at all?

Really the film makers need to develop some originality and move on to new frontiers in ScFi.

Part of the charm of the original star trek was the polystyrene rocks, the womanising Captain and sixties style dress. We cannot have a remake without ruining a cult classic.

Personnally I would like to see another spin off from SG1.

Totally agree Trinity.. you shouldn't have remake of a classic.. they tried to make a new Star trek series (the beginnings, time before Kirk) but it failed.. most treky fans don't like this series at all

I am a huge ScFi fan - but I didn't get into 'Enterprise' at all. I loved TNG, DS9 and Voyager - but Enterprise just didn't do it for me. We are too sophisticated now to go back to dodgy transporters and blue aliens.

Thought I'd put this in here instead of starting a new thread on the film.

The producers of the upcoming Star Trek movie have announced that they will hold open auditions to cast "odd-looking" people as extras in the film.

Bosses of the picture have stated that they would like people with "unique" features such as "long necks, small heads, bug eyes, large foreheads and over-sized ears".

Hopefuls will also have to agree to have their eyebrows shaved to portray a "Vulcan-type" shape at the casting in California on Saturday.

The advert for the audition said: "This is an epic project and we are looking for the most intriguing and interesting faces to integrate in this film."

The film is due to be released next December and will be directed by Lost creator JJ Abrams.

Two more actors have signed up to star in the new Star Trek movie, which has already started shooting.

Actor Chris Hemsworth will play Captain James T Kirk's father, George Kirk, even though he is only 24 years old and Chris Pine (James) is 27.

Rules of Attraction star Clifton Collins Jr. has also been added to the lineup as the sidekick to villain Nero, played by Eric Bana.

They both join a cast including Simon Pegg, Winona Ryder and the original Spock Leonard Nimoy.

UMMMMMM maybe I am biased here,, but William Shanter was AN AMERICAN,, and Robbie Williams is a Brit,, before U say SO WHAT ........people like myself who watched Star Trek from the begining,, will say the same thing,, if they are going to remake the movie,, for heavens sake CAST SOME ONE WHO IS AT LEAST an American. If they are going to cast some one as Capt Kirk,, why not pick say Ben Affleck or Matt Damon or some one in that age group to play Kirk,,
Ok rant over:moonie: ...........live long and prosper :D

Winona Ryder, ‘House’ Star Join ‘Star Trek’ Film

In the past couple of days, we’ve learned of two more females added to the upcoming Star Trek film. Winona Ryder (The Age of Innocence) and Jennifer Morrison (House) will now be joining actress Zoe Saldana in the male-heavy cast.

Although director J.J. Abrams is being tight-lipped about Morrison’s role in the film, he has denied speculation that she will play secretary Yeoman Rand. Meanwhile Ryder has been cast as Amanda Grayson, the human mother of young Spock (Zachary Quinto). Saldana, as previously announced, will be starring as Lt. Uhura.

Ben Cross has signed up to play Spock's father in the new Star Trek movie.

The British actor is the latest addition the cast, which already includes Heroes star Zachary Quinto as Spock, Eric Bana as the villian and Simon Pegg as Scotty.

Director JJ Abrams' film will see Cross star alongside Winona Ryder, who takes on the role of Spock's mother Amanda Grayson.

Cross is famous for his roles in Chariots of Fire and First Knight.

Star Trek is due to be released in cinemas in December 2008.

J.J. Abrams' upcoming "Star Trek" sequel finally has a title. The latest installment in the ongoing adventures of the U.S.S. Enterprise has been christened "Star Trek Into Darkness."

The follow-up to the 2009 reboot will once again star Chris Pine as Captain Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Mr. Spock and Karl Urban as Dr. McCoy, with Abrams returning as director.

Benedict Cumberbatch, who is best known for his work on the BBC mystery series "Sherlock," will play the villain. The film debuts on May 17, 2013.

Details of the film have been kept tightly under wraps, but in an interview with TheWrap last week Quinto promised that the sequel will be "bigger" and "bolder."
