Episode 2.01: Four Months Later

07/24 - Lyndsy Fonseca is out as Claire's gay cheerleader pal. She's out as in, off the show. According to Heroes creator Tim Kring, Fonseca's role had to be cut short after she landed that series-regular gig on Desperate Housewives . "She wasn't a pivotal character," Kring says of Claire's pal, who will now appear in just one episode. "The idea was that that part would grow, but it never got a chance to." New Hero Dania Ramirez revealed that when we first meet her character, Maya, "she's on the run from the cops." Source: The Ausiello Report
07/20 - Jack Coleman, who plays Noah Bennet-also known as HRG (Horn-Rimmed Glasses)- in NBC's Emmy-nominated series Heroes, told SCI FI Wire that his character will still have a dark edge to him at the beginning of the second season. "It makes it very clear, in the very first episode of this year, he's not defanged," Coleman said. [...] Coleman revealed that in the second-season premiere, which picks up several months after the events of the season finale, his character has been reunited with his adopted daughter, Claire (Hayden Panettiere), and his wife (Ashley Crow) and son (Randall Bentley). "The Bennet family has relocated," he said. "I can't tell you exactly where. And it's a new world. The secrets they keep from each other are new secrets. The old secrets have all been divulged. We're not retreading the old ground. But there's old ghosts. Old habits are about to rear their ugly head in a very dramatic way. The Bennets are together to start, but in a very difficult, awkward circumstance that they all have to try to deal with. And it gets pretty sticky pretty quickly." Coleman also said that his character will continue to be one of the few on the show without any super powers. Source: Sci Fi Wire

06/20 - Hayden Panettiere revealed that the first episode [of Season 2] picks up four months after the finale. "A lot of things happened [during those four months] that people don't know about," she teased. "A lot of things changed and people will be like, 'Whoa!'" Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide
06/14 - The episode will feature a villainous Japanese warlord who is known as "White Beard," various old Japanese villagers as well as Tuko, a West-African man working for Irish mobster Ricky. Source: SpoilerFix.com
06/12 - They're welcoming a new recurring character named Will, aka Blackie, an Irish mobster who's mixed up in small-time crime. I'm hearing we'll meet a new character who's been alive for 1,000 years. Source: Kristin on E!Online
06/09 - Reliable inside sources connected to NBC tell me that David Anders, the ridiculously talented actor who played the ridiculously awesome Mr. Sark on Alias, is in final talks with Heroes to play a new character named Kane for the upcoming second season. Source: Kristin on E!Online
06/07 - A new hot young female hero is joining the gang on NBC's hit sci-fi drama Heroes. Dania Ramirez (The Sopranos) has been added as a regular on the NBC Universal TV Studio series, which is returning for a second season in the fall. Ramirez will play Maya, a new hero whose powers are being kept under wraps. Maya is one of four to five new characters expected to be added to Heroes next season, but her character might be the only regular one. The other roles, most of which are said to have international flavor, include a sexy boyfriend for Claire (Hayden Panettiere), a 28-year-old black mother, a surrogate for Niki's (Ali Larter) son and an Irish mobster. 05/27 - The yet-to-be-titled Season 2 premiere will introduce new series regular Maya, a Hispanic woman in her mid 20s. The episode will also introduce Kane, a recurring character that may become a possible regular. This man in his late 20s is referred, in the info we were given, as an ageless American with an European feel. He is said to be a charming womanizer who as a soul that seems to be older than he appears to be. A new Japanese recurring female character will be named Princess Keriyama. A few high school characters living in California will be added to the recurring cast. They are: Gay cheerleader April; charming 18-year-old West, who doesn't fit in much; May, a mean cheerleader high schooler. Other recurring characters making their first appearances in the premiere are: Georgie and Blackie, two Irish thieves, who are under orders of 45ish ringleader Ricky; friendly 40-year-old mild-mannered Bob who is said to be the "unassuming face of a very powerful organization"; NYPD detective Kincaid. I think season 2 starts in september. Can't wait, even though the final episode of season 1 was a let down.

I thought the same, especially as the rest of the season was sooooooooo goood. Still watch season 2 though :D

Prison break and heroes start in September. If only Lost started then as well - bliss.

Hayden Panettiere has revealed that her Heroes character Claire Bennet is due to find love with a new character named West in the show's upcoming second season.

Talking about the future of her cheerleader character, Panettiere told The Sun: "Claire is really trying to get in touch with her inner teen self once again. She hasn't given that up, and I think it'd be a sad thing if she did."

The US actress said: "She's struggling to fit in but not stand out, it's teenage angst."

On the subject of her character's development, the star commented: "This season she's really looking to figure out more about far she can push her powers, and what happens when she does.

"There are still some unanswered questions for her about her ability - how far her pain tolerance can go or if she can actually die."

She also explained that the new series would contain a whole selection of new villains for the heroes to deal with.

Panettiere added: "They're freakier in a different way. These characters are just creepier from what I've seen and heard about them."

Bratz: The Movie's Janel Parrish is to appear in three episodes of Heroes.

Parrish appeared as Jade in the movie and has previously appeared in The O.C. and Baywatch.

In Heroes, she will play the character of May, the head cheerleader at Claire's new school.

Lost's loss is the Heroes gang's gain. Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell has been cast in what is being pegged as a "key multi-episode arc" for the second season of Heroes. Per Variety, Bell will first appear in October as Elle, "a sexy, mysterious young lady who (Spoiler alert) has ties to the supposed death of Peter, H.R.G.'s past and Claire's future. Landing the in-demand actress "was not easy to pull off," Heroes creator Tim Kring tells the trade. "But since we're an ensemble show, with many arcs playing out through the year, we found a way to jump into a small window in (Bell's) schedule."

Unreliable sources say Bell's Heroes alter ego has the power to utterly destroy a person with a witty retort.

As the eagerly anticipated second season of Heroes creeps ever closer, Cult Spy takes a look at some questions thrown up over previous episodes that are still whirling around like one of Sylar’s mum’s snowglobes…

Hiro

The most overt example of a narrative arc overlapping into the second season involves the plight of our over-enthusiastic pal Hiro. Having inadvertently teleported into 1671 Japan, the poor guy found himself trapped in a bit of a pickle involving some rather angry warriors. The solar eclipse may help him to sneak off to safety, but he’d better be prepared to use that Samurai sword again or work at his teleporting skills. Besides, he must miss the company of his beloved Ando!

Peter and Nathan?

At the end of the season finale Nathan unexpectedly turned good and flew his brother Peter high up into the night sky in order to avoid the nuclear explosion devastating the city. It would be easy to assume that the pair are currently in many little pieces scattered around the cosmos, but given their appeal and prominence as characters one can perhaps expect them to resurface at some stage… or maybe not?

The New Baddie

The introduction of Molly Walker, a Hero Tracking System within a poorly little girl, has set up the tantalising prospect of a baddie that makes Sylar look like a herbivore pacifist. For Molly revealed that out in the great wide world lurks one person who she dare not even think of. For such is his power, he can enter her thoughts and do bad things simply by being thought about.

Sylar

The old film and television cliché goes that the brave protagonists rarely finish off the villain of the piece properly, thus allowing said bad dude to creep off for more future misdeeds. One quick thrust of a Samurai sword into his chest didn’t prove to be enough to kill off the dreaded Sylar, for we witnessed at the end of the finale a trail of blood from where his body lay leading towards the sewers…

Happy Families?

We tracked the ongoing fractious relationship between Matt Parkman and his adulterous missus, but now the couple have a baby in sight does this mean an end to their squabbling? Furthermore, Matt now has a big financial burden on his shoulders given that he’s suspended from his cop job. That’s all assuming he recovered from being shot though…

Cheerleader Claire now knows Nathan is her real father and has reconciled with adoptive parent Noah Bennet. (Yes, that’s Noah, not Mister anymore!) What we’ve yet to learn is how this will all pan out in terms of Claire’s future family life.

As for the ongoing Jessica-Niki scenario, let’s hope poor Micah has his real mother back on full-time duty. Jessica was often the bad girl of the first season, almost throwing Matt to his death, but came up trumps for the forces of goodness towards the end of the season as some sweet revenge on Mr Linderman loomed large. How long before Jessica gets a bit tetchy again though?
