Again feel free to move this if its in the wrong place.

As some will know i got a a new rabbit today (well yesterday if you want to be technical) well iv'e had my other rabbit (thumper) 4 years and she has always been on her own, she is an indoor rabbit so has quite a big cage and for 4 years she has been used to having us, her cage and the mat all to herself, my dad said she would be fine if i intoduced a new bunny to her and she seems playful with her when they are out (they chase eachother though im not sure if that is playful or because they are fighting only the new one is too fast so thumps can't actually get close enough to touch her) but having been watching thumps since she went in (we put the new one to bed before thumps) i think she is miserable sharing and having her big house divided so that they dont hurt eachother, i really want to get seperate cages because although i love this new rabbit thumps is my baby and i don't want this new rabbit to take away what she had but mum doesn't want two cages so i don't know what to do :searchme:

Give them a few days to get used to each other Vicky. When we first got Marley's kitten 3 years ago she was only 3 months old a few weeks later I got another cat and for about a week they hissed and growled at each other. But eventually they settled down and now they adore each other.

Yeah dad keeps saying to leave it for a while and they do seem okay together when playing (if thats what is happening) but i just don't think it is fair to split the cage up for both of them

vicks i had the same problem - and i think you should prepair yourself to get two cages.

Mines are boys, the indoor ones, i got Kingsley about a year before ralphie. I tried putting them into their playpen together first putting a clear barrier between them so they could see but not bite each other. they i slowly started to lift the barrier letting them rub noses ect. But it didnt work. They hate each other and when their not fighting they are trying to hump each other!!!!!

Kingsley is still jealous of him even now after more than a year. He Thumps and Thumps if we dare feed ralphie before him and he needs to be let out first.
Typical Boys!!!!

To be fair Thumps doesnt thump she just comes over to be and nudges me if im stroking the other one this is why it is hard to tell how they feel about eachother i know from the past if thumps really wasnt happy then she would thump thats why i think they are playing with eachother when out but i think she comes over and nudges me so i stroke her aswell.

I still want another cage for the other one though because even if they do get on i dont think its fair on thumps splitting up her cage

is there a reason that your mum doesnt want 2 cages? i think even if they do get on well it might be an idea to have 2 cages just so they dont have to be with each other all the time

She doesnt want 2 because they will both be indoors and she thinks if there are loads of cages around it will begin to look like a farm not a house
