Vernon is acting suspicious when a strange woman arrives at the Rovers and takes away some record boxes in exchange for some plane tickets. Derek turns up and tells a sympathetic Vernon that Linda's chucked him and she wants a divorce. A shocked Liz enters and is worried when she sees them talking. Derek confronts her saying there's no way he is losing everything while she lives happily ever after, the only way he'll keep quiet is if she carries on seeing him but she refuses. He tells Vernon the woman he has been seeing is Liz, how will Vernon react to the news especially when he has just booked them both a surprise holiday?
Claire and Ashley return from three weeks at Yvonne’s. Ashley tells Gail they had to get back sooner or later and now seemed appropriate as it’s Freddie’s 1st birthday tomorrow. He confirms they’re having a party for him and Roy and Hayley join them to talk about the birthday party. They’re excited and want to do all they can to help. Ashley sees Claire is less enthusiastic, but doesn’t draw attention to it in front of the Croppers. Alone with Claire, Ashley hints she needs to make an effort for Freddie, but will Claire be too troubled to help?
Molly and Tyrone are house hunting and he is concerned at leaving Jack and Vera on their own but Paul insists them he will look after them. They have no luck finding anywhere but Paul has made them dinner which Tyrone refuses. Later in the Rovers, Paul introduces himself to Sean while Molly tells Tyrone to start giving him a break as the longer he stays, the easier it'll be for them to move out.
Gail, meanwhile, complains to environmental health about Daryl playing his guitar too loud.
16th July
Claire and Ashley are busy organising the house for Freddie's first birthday and when he jokes about it being a 'house warming' it makes Claire start to think about recent events. Oblivious to how she is really feeling he goes for a drink with Kevin and tells him how well she is coping. He's stunned therefore when he gets home and finds none of the decorations have been done in the house and he gets a call saying that Josh hasn't been picked up from school. Where is Claire and will she be back in time for the party?
Vernon wakes up in the cab office and when Lloyd asks him how long he is staying he tells him he has no idea what his plans are. Meanwhile, Liz realises she never treated Vernon well and is concerned to his whereabouts. She bombards him with messages and at the Rovers Lloyd tells her how down he is and Jamie adds that he is at Roy's Rolls. Will Liz go find him?
The factory girls tells a furious Liam that Joanne has been sacked. He confronts Carla and tells her that she has to give her her job back but Carla refuses. How will Liam react?
Cilla and Yana come up with a novel way of trying to attract more customers to the chip shop.
Maria is pleasantly surprised when Liam comes in for a haircut.
Ashley is worried as the guests turn up for the party and there is still no sign of Claire. He tries to cover up her absence but she soon returns with a bizarre explanation for her disappearance. When the doorbell rings Ashley is shocked to see Casey wanting to apologise to Claire. Claire is confused and chases after Casey up the street and ends up inviting her back to the party. Ashley is surprised when he then overhears Claire confiding in her one time enemy.
Vernon is feeling very sorry for himself and won't leave Roy's Rolls. Liz arrives and tells Roy she has no intention of leaving and has to speak to Vernon. He tells her he can never forgive her and when she asks him if they can get back together he walks off, however, she asks Lloyd to rent his spare room to Vernon and she will pay him for it. She becomes worried when Vernon doesn't reply to Lloyd's text, where has Vernon gone?
Tyrone is not impressed when Paul tries to persuade Jack to give up the wheelchair.
Cilla asks Leanne for a job at the restaurant.
Liam offers Joanne her job back while Maria becomes more interested in him.
18th July
Ashley is extremely concerned when Claire neglects the house and Joshua. She confesses that she is not coping and that she is going to stay with her mum much to his dismay. Casey goes to visit her at Yvonne's where Claire tells about her problems with Ashley, Casey tells Claire he is in the wrong. Later Ashley is shocked when Casey has come to see him. She reassures him that Claire is OK but will Ashley be able to open up to Casey?
Tyrone is still irritated by Paul's presence especially as he seems to be getting closer to Jack and is also doing his chores for him. He tells Molly he is suspicious of Paul's sudden appearance but she tells him that it has really helped them have time together. Later Tyrone offers to play cards with Jack but he chooses to play with Paul instead, how will Tyrone react to Jack's favouritism?
Leanne is rushed off her feet and tells Janice that she may not be able to make Roger's first payment as she has not got a handle on the accounts yet. Janice breaks the news to Roger which he accepts but when his van breaks down he reveals he can't repair it because all his savings have gone into the restaurant. How will Janice react to the news?
Liam is annoyed when Carla sacks Joanne again. They argue over her but Carla reminds him she is the larger shareholder so her decision stands.
Eileen introduces Pat to Sarah and Jason.
20th July
Leanne is feeling the pressure as her staff do not seem happy to be working for her. She is annoyed when her customers don't get the wine they have ordered and she tells the waiter off for being on his phone when he is meant to be serving.
Later, she tells the chef and the waiter off for gossiping and they decide to walk out. The restaurant is in a mess and she is relieved when Janice turns up. But Janice reveals that Roger has given her all his savings leaving Leanne feeling guilty.
Ashley is surprised to see Casey on his doorstep. She offers to take Josh to school but instead he asks her to take the shop keys over to Kirk. He is surprised to see her behind the counter and she tells him that Kirk is ill and it seemed the logical thing to do. She goes to pick up Josh from school and when they return Ashley offers her to stay for a drink. Will she take him up on his offer?
Joanne arrives at the factory and Carla presumes it is for her wages but she tells her she has been to see the Citizens Advice bureau and that she wants more especially after her rendez-vous with Liam otherwise she may take them to a tribunal. Liam is furious but Carla concedes and gives into her demands.
Liz is gutted when she discovers that Vernon is moving to Spain.
