Dana Delaney (China Beach), Nathan Fillion (Firefly) :cheer: :cheer: and Lyndsy Fonseca (Big Love) are in negotiations to join the cast of the ABC Studios-produced "Desperate Housewives" next season as regulars says The Hollywood Reporter.
Delany and Fillion would play a woman and her much younger husband who move to Wisteria Lane with the woman's daughter (Fonseca).
The casting of Delany is ironic as she was reportedly the first choice for the role of Bree (Marcia Cross) but turned down the pilot.

Desperate Housewives writer and creator Marc Cherry has revealed his plans to introduce a gay couple to Wisteria Lane in season four.
Cherry - who will use his own life experiences as a basis for the plot - told afterelton.com: "We're going to have the first male desperate housewives.
"They will move into the old Applewhite house, and one of the gay men will just have a fractious, hateful relationship with [Susan Mayer]," he continued.
"Susan wants to be so politically correct and show how open-minded she is, that she puts her foot in her mouth instantly and it goes downhill from there. I'm basing it a little bit on my relationship with my neighbours."
He added: "We've just started writing the episodes, so I probably won't start casting for another few weeks."
Production has already begun on the fourth season of the hit ABC drama, which is due to kick off its 23-episode run in the US on Sunday, September 30.

After the dramatic (and rather shocking) ending of season three, the fourth series of Desperate Housewives picks up about a month later.
Plenty of spoilers are being bandied around the internet and so I thought I'd give a definitive run-down for you all to see and afterwards say 'I knew I shouldn't have read that but I just couldn't help myself'.
BE WARNED: The following contains detailed spoilers...
- Nicollette Sheridan is still very much a season regular.
- There's a new housewife on the block in series for and her name is Katherine, Bree's long-lost sister/friend. Apparently they were such close friends, they acted like they were sisters.
- Katherine is to be played by Kidnapped star Dana Delany. Her character has been described as a "conservative Republican with an all-American wholesomeness and a mastery of passive aggressiveness".
- Katherine will be joined by husband Adam - reportedly played by Nathan Fillion.
- Lyndsy Fonseca will apparently play their daughter, Dylan. (Adam isn't her biological father)
- Not much is known about the new family, except Katherine moved away from Wisteria Lane 12 years ago. I think it's safe to say that the question 'Why did she move away?' will be at least one of the mysteries of the new season.
- Julie Mayer remembers her and Dylan playing together when they were younger but Dylan remembers nothing...
- Mike Delfino's brother, Terry, will be a recurring character throughout season four. He was supposed to turn up in the season three finale - presumably for Mike and Susan's wedding - but plans for his character were scrapped at the last minute.
- Susan visits a gynecologist in the first few episodes of season four. Apparently she's pregnant (although it's an unconfirmed rumour) and as her regular doctor isn't around, she's surprised to see his replacement - Adam, Katherine's husband.
- Gabrielle's new husband, Victor Laing (John Slattery), will be around for at least the first half of the season - maybe even longer.
- Lynette's ongoing battle with Kayla continues, while Lynette's mother, Stella Wingfield (Polly Bergen), will be a recurring character.
- Rumours are rife that someone will die this season.
- Reports suggest that there's a musical episode is on the cards.
- This woman may be playing a nurse. Oooooh I hear you cry. I did, too.
- And finally, a 'I-don't-think-that-it's-true-because-someone-flagged-it-up-to-me-
as-being-on-Wikipedia' spoiler: former Emmerdale actress Claire King is to play Edie Britt's sister, Helen.

A top Desperate Housewives star will be departing from the show in the next season, according to a report.
Fans of the hit US series, which returns to the ABC network next month, had speculated that Nicollette Sheridan's character Edie Brit could be killed off in the opening episode, after she was seen preparing to commit suicide in the season three finale. However, sources have confirmed that Sheridan will not be leaving.
Although Nicollette's future on the programme has been assured, rumours suggest that one of the other main actresses will be written out of the show in the fourth season.
"Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer), Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis), Marcia Cross (Bree Hodge) or Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo) is going to leave," an insider told the National Ledger. "I don't think anyone other than [show creator] Marc Cherry and the actress involved know for sure who it is."

Desperate Housewives star Andrea Bowen has revealed that her character is getting a new love interest in the next season of the show.
The 17-year-old actress, who plays Susan Mayer's daughter Julie, has admitted that she is thrilled after hearing producers' plans for her character.
"I hear that I get another new love interest so that could always be interesting. I don't know who it will be, don't know when that'll happen but supposedly that's on the horizon, so I'm kind of excited about that," Andrea is quoted by The Sun as saying.
"I think it's fun. It's something that's very realistic for my character's age. I think that it's something else for me to explore and it's always fun to do that."
Desperate Housewives returns to US screens on September 30.

Former Emmerdale and Bad Girls actress Claire King will not be appearing in the next series of Desperate Housewives, Digital Spy can confirm.
For months, the 44-year-old actress has been rumoured to be joining ABC's hit Wisteria Lane drama as Edie Britt's (Nicollette Sheridan) sister, Helen.
However, a source close to Claire told DS: "Claire has been contacted by a number of producers over in the US ever since Bad Girls aired on BBC America but she'll definitely not be appearing in Desperate Housewives.
"She attended meetings with one producer in particular who's worked on various shows – one of them being Housewives – but they were just throwing ideas around."
They added: "The talks have been more about another show, not Housewives. She's not ruled out anything and there are several offers on the table. Over the years, we've learned to expect the unexpected from her."
Claire played super-bitch Kim Tate in Emmerdale for 11 years before quitting in 1999. She then went on to take a four-year leading role as G-Wing governer Karen Betts in ITV prison drama Bad Girls.
Last year, she also appeared in Hollyoaks' late-night raunchy spin-off In The City as businesswoman Stella.

Well, it's not David Beckham and Robbie Williams, but this'll do.
Desperate Housewives has tapped One Life to Live's Tuc Watkins and ex-Judging Amy actor Kevin Rahm to play Wisteria Lane's first gay couple. Watkins will play Bob, described as a country mouse who leaves the big city for greener (and quieter) pastures. Rahm is his bitchy partner, Lee.
Interestingly, the characters' names are a tribute to ABC News' Bob Woodruff and his wife Lee, whom series creator Marc Cherry befriended last spring.

James Denton isn’t likely to be the only guy doing shameless shirtless scenes on Desperate Housewives this season. Jesse Metcalfe, who plays Gabrielle’s hunky lawnboy and lover John, will return to the show in the fourth episode. And John’s on a mission. He confesses to Gabby (Eva Longoria) that his marriage is a sham and he wants her back. Meanwhile, Gabby and Victor (John Slattery) aren’t in newlywed bliss — she’s even still seeing Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) on the side. So exactly how many men can one Wisteria Lane woman handle? We might just find out.

Question: I'm very disappointed! You didn't say anything about Desperate Housewives in last week's AA. — Jose Carlos
Ausiello: I was waiting till I had something to say, and now I do: I've seen the season premiere and, save for the lame resolution of the Edie cliff-hanger, the episode is actually pretty good. All of the actors seem on top of their game, including Dana Delany and Nathan Fillion who are fantastic as the sorta-new couple on the block. On the spoiler front, I can tell you that this season's big mystery centers on what happened to Delany's daughter (Lyndsy Fonseca) during their early days on Wisteria Lane. There's also a big baby twist, a funny sight gag involving a barbecue fork that underrated funny lady Marcia Cross just nails, and a housewife's death is averted by none other than Mrs. McClusky.
Question: Any hint on which guy is going to die on Desperate Housewives?— K.K.
Ausiello: Assuming Marc Cherry sticks with Plan A, the dearly departed is the spouse of a housewife.
Question: Desperate Housewives! — Jane
Ausiello: Lynette Scavo's family tree continues to grow: The show will soon be introducing her elegant and hard-edged older sister.

Kara in Fort Lee, New Jersey: Can you please tell me why the actress playing Nathan Fillion's ex-lover from Chicago looks so familiar? I've been trying to figure it out since she unexpectedly showed up at his door last night on Desperate Housewives!
Her name is Melora Walters, and you know her because she is crazy Wanda Henrickson from Big Love! You know, Joey's weirdo wife who has a penchant for poisoning people?! Turns out she'll be playing a loon on Desperate Housewives, too, and sources are saying Tom Scavo is her next victim! Do you remember when we reported back in October that Tom would be seen having dinner with an annoying hussy? Turns out that hussy is the same lady who wreaked havoc on Adam and Katherine Mayfair's marriage back in Chi-town.

Desperate Housewives Episode Recap: "Something's Coming"
Natural disasters create strange bedfellows — or more specifically, basement fellows. While the tornado caused two deaths tonight, it was also a catalyst for forgiveness, revelation, and new and altered friendships.
I (and others who read scoop and spoilers) found out a while ago that two characters, one man and one woman, would die. And within the first few minutes of the episode, narrator Mary Alice told us that on what began as a beautiful day would end with the loss of one housewife's husband and "a friend." I had my ideas, not to mention the knowledge that John Slattery (Victor) was bound for a second season of AMC's Mad Men. Still, I found myself at moments thinking about what the show would be like if Victor had shot Carlos dead or if Tom succumbed to his cat allergy with a fatal asthma attack. My two favorite Wisteria Lane husbands (Carlos and Tom) and the Carlos/Gaby and Tom/Lynette couples would be no more.
Thankfully these couples are still intact. But their homes and livelihoods are not. The Scavos, having just conquered cancer, now have no home for their family of seven. At least Karen McCluskey is still around. I admit I have such a soft spot for her; I jumped when she and Lynette darted out into the wind to rescue Ida's cat. And I had doubts that a mattress and a bathtub were adequate shelter.
Gaby and Edie — and then Carlos and Victor — also had some outdoor action, fighting each other as the storm grew stronger. You just knew the Cayman account file would dramatically be swept away with the wind. What was less predictable (and funnier) was how the file and the scuffle that ensued forced the two to hide out together in Edie's crawl space. Even though Edie refused to hear any deathbed confessions, Gaby apologized for lying to her and hurting her. Edie admitted falling for Carlos but not hating Gaby, and the two actually hugged, thanks to a frightening rush of wind. It appears all is forgiven (for now), and knowing that Carlos and Gaby may have lost all access to their Cayman millions probably made Edie feel a little bit better.
Carlos had a very similar conversation with his ex's ex, Victor, but it didn't end in a hug. Their fistfight took them outside and then back into the house — almost. Just as Carlos crossed the threshold and Victor loomed behind him with a crowbar: crunch. Those pristine white picket fences in perky little suburban Fairview became deadly at the hands of a tornado. (I have to mention that my mom, who's visiting me and watched the show tonight for the first time ever, said casually as they were fighting that Victor would get skewered with a fencepost. How can my mother be so right so much of the time? It's bizarre.)
I'm not a big fan of the Mike's-addiction storyline, but at least I enjoyed watching Susan confront Orson about prescribing the pills while Orson was with a patient. And once Mike's moody condition caused him to lash out and get handcuffed to a chair, as well as sent her falling down the stairs (ugh, overused plot device) and to the ER, Mike vowed to enter rehab. I was glad to see Susan threaten to leave him; he needed that reality check, even after what had already transpired. Did you see that look he gave when the nurse handed Susan her pain medication? That man needs some help.
Perhaps my favorite storyline is the whole Katherine-Bree tension, and tonight didn't disappoint. Trust Bree to sit Adam's Chicago flame down and chat/gossip over a nice cuppa tea. The approaching storms (tornado and Sylvia) forced Bree, Katherine, Adam and Orson (and Benjamin and his dirty diaper) to deal with each other, revealing secrets and relying on one another in the process. Bree's soft, compassionate side prevailed with Katherine, going so far as to hold her hand after the truth of Adam's affair with Sylvia was revealed (midstorm in Bree's house!). Even I had some sympathy for Katherine. I mean yeah, she's a witchy ice queen, but what a day that woman had! The good news for Katherine is that she won't be dealing with Sylvia (Melora Walters) anymore. That apparently unstable woman got her just desserts courtesy of the tornado, leaving the rest of the street's female contingent free (for the time being) from such a demise.

Question: This isn't really a question, but gawd, I sure hope Lynette's kids died in that Desperate Housewives tornado! Wait, I can turn this into a question! Michael, can you please tell me whether Lynette's kids are dead? Pretty puh-leeeeease with a Snapple cap on top?! — Gord
Ausiello: Regrettably, the Scavo's demon spawn survive the twister. I don't get Marc Cherry sometimes. He had a golden opportunity to kill four really annoying birds with one big shiny stone and he didn't take it. Maybe he's waiting to unload them in the May sweeps tsunami.
Question: Did Lynette's husband die in the tornado? The promos said "a friend and a husband" would die. Is it Tom? Who is the friend? I'm so confused. When are new episodes coming back? — Amy
Ausiello: Actually, it's episode, not episodes. The conclusion to Sunday's two-parter is the only remaining episode in the can. And my guess is ABC is holding onto it as long as possible.

Housewives Return Date Is Revealed! Plus, Who Died?
Desperate Housewives by Ron Tom/ABCJanuary 6 — that's when it will be confirmed who died in the tornado that struck Desperate Housewives' Wisteria Lane in the Dec. 2 episode. It also could be the last original episode fans see this season if the WGA strike isn't resolved soon. Luckily, it's a good one. "It's even better than the last," says a source. "It's super-gripping, it addresses so many storylines and it answers so many questions that viewers have been asking all season."
So, to be blunt, who's toast? Viewers will learn (spoiler alert) that Gaby's husband, Victor, was indeed killed by the tornado (or, more specifically, a picket through the chest). Also done-for is Sylvia, the patient who was stalking Nathan Fillion's doc. The fate of Carlos, who was left for dead on the floor of his house will be confirmed, and Housewives fans will also discover who survived the collapse of Mrs. McCluskey's home, in which Tom and Ida were taking cover. That's right — another tornado-related death could be revealed in the new episode. — Teena Hammond Gomez

Question: Any idea yet when that one remaining Desperate Housewives episode will air? — Duane
Ausiello: Looks like Jan. 6. Speaking of DH, the introduction of Katherine's ex wasn't the only major plot that was back-burnered due to the strike. Drug-addled Mike was supposed to befriend a mysterious woman while in rehab, and Marc Cherry was in the midst of casting the plum part when production came to a standstill.
General Spoilers:
01/10 - In Monday's USA Today, he [Marc Cherry] told reporter Will Keck that he's considering downsizing Lynette's demonic progeny. Ausiello Report Exclusive: O.C. Bad Boy Gets Desperate
Desperate Housewives has tapped onetime O.C. jock Chris Carmack for a potentially recurring role, sources confirm to me exclusively.
Carmack will play Susan's studly cousin Tim, who shows up on Wisteria Lane to help his older cuz with her taxes and ends up doing Mike's, too. (If the character sounds oddly familiar, here's why.)
Housewives is also casting a teenaged version of Tim, who'll be seen in a flashback. Tim apparently witnessed a tragic event, possibly involving Susan... and Howie Long... and a series of Radio Shack ads.

Question: Any new Desperate Housewives news? — Denise
Ausiello: Jason Gedrick's returning as Lynette's pizzeria crush, but you already knew that. What you didn't know is that, much to the Scavo's surprise, homeboy went and opened up his own pizza joint practically across the street!
A Gale force is about to blow through Wisteria Lane, but this time the culprit isn't Mother Nature.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that former Queer as Folk cad Gale Harold has booked a potentially recurring role on Desperate Housewives. The Vanished actor — who turned up last November as a swastika-sportin' medic in a two-part Grey's Anatomy — will play a quick-witted, charming and buttoned-down suburbanite. Picture a young Jack Lemmon, only without a cross-dressing Tony Curtis dragging him down.
He'll be introduced in the May 18 finale and could return next season in a recurring capacity.

Episode 4.15: Mother Said

04/23 - [...] tongues are wagging that Edie's actions during the rest of the season are so reprehensible they could actually lead her to leave town. [...] What does she do that's so bad? "One of her neighbors is in a bit of a predicament and Edie good-naturedly attemps to help her out," Sheridan reveals of the May 11 episode. "But in doing that, she gets lured into an alcoholic haze that gives her momentary extraordinarily bad judgment." In short, "Edie crosses a huge moral boundary that she has never crossed before," creator Marc Cherry has said. "It's not that despicable," counters Sheridan. "The women are all quite evil at the end of that episode. Those nasty wenches! I mean, come on, they're the ones that are killing people, having affairs!" 04/27 - Adam is injured and when a driver passing by asks him if he's okay and what happened to him, Adam says: "Wayne Davis." Then, Adam pulls the driver out of his car and drives away. Police officers are at Katherine's house. She is sitting in her living room, unresponsive. There will be flashbacks of a younger Katherine when she and Wayne were still married. One will feature Katherine at the Mount Pleasant Police Station admitting to a policewoman that her husband has been hitting her and promising each time that he'll stop. It's not the first time Katherine goes to the police. The policewoman warns Katherine that since Wayne is a fellow patrolman, it's likely that the paperwork about Wayne's abuse will be lost again since he has a lot of friends at the station. She suggests to Katherine that she gets all the money she can and that she runs away with her daughter. It sounds like Lee and Bob may try to get married in this episode. It looks like they are going ahead with the time jump to the future since 40-year-old Ken (mentioned below in a spoiler from Kristin) is said to be someone's new husband. The wife, who sounds a lot like Susan, is hanging at her young son's school on his first days of school claiming that it's a "minefield" and that she found choking hazards all around (e.g., a little plastic sand shovel in the sand pit)! Ken warns his wife that it's time to let go. Andrew and Ellie also appear. Source: SpoilerFix.com

Dana Delany has confirmed that she will continue her Desperate Housewives stint into the next season.
The 52-year-old joined the show in season four as Katherine Mayfair, a housewife who may have been responsible for her ex-husband's death.
Delany told Entertainment Tonight: "I'm coming back, yes. My whole mystery story will be wrapped up and everything will be revealed, and it's rather dramatic."
