Hi, I'll be travelling to Malaysia in the near future, and was wondering if anyone had any tips for jet lag. There's an 8 hour difference between England and Malaysia.

Here's a jet lag calculator http://www.britishairways.com/travel/drsleep/public/en_gb Put in your usual time that you wake up and the time difference and it'll calculate what you should do to reduce jet lag.
NHS Direct have some info on preventing it http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/article.aspx?articleId=220&sectionId=20388

Try and stick to your normal pattern of sleeping at night and staying awake in the day.

To be fair, it really depends on when your flight is. When i came back from America, i arrived at 8am, so staying awake untill 9pm (Although really really hard!!!) meant i didn't get jet lagged at all. So when you get there, stay awake untill its night. So if you get there at 3pm, stay awake untill 9 and its much easier, i think.

Thanks for your advice,:) I tend to make the mistake of napping during the day and then going mad at night because I can't sleep LOL

My advice would be to not go to bed until its night time in whichever country you are in. I've found that when I've done that when I've been to the US, I've never suffered from jet lag at all (although it could just be the way my body deals with the time difference lol)

I know thats what my mum does when she is on her travels aswell, and she didn't have any problems when she went to New Zealand.

Yeah, I'll have to do that. It really wrecks the beginning of my holiday when I'm a zombie and then by the time my body's caught up with the time difference it's time to go home!!! :o

thats what we do too, i think its the best way. when we went to new zealand, it was a 27hr flight and we got there at 5am! staying up was so difficult but i managed to stay awake til about 8pm and then was fine for the whole holiday. ive never been jetlagged so it must work lol!
