Soapboards X Factor
The nation's biggest talent show hits soapboards.
Hosted by Dermot O Leary, and judged by Simon Cowell (bondboffin) and Sharon Osbourne (luna) The X Factor is coming to soapboard's soon and we need you to sign up for it!
For a week and a bit (depending on how many members we get) every member will sing, with a member being booted off each night, until the last one stands to be crowned winner of the soapboard's X Factor.
How it works, you record you song on microphone, then upload it to the net for everyone to hear. They vote every night, whoever has the least votes is booted out.
It's fun, it's unqiue and it's set to rock soapboard soon. All members who are intrested, please email/PM bondboffin or luna a.s.a.p.
P.S: Based on an originial idea by Jessie Wallace (Dawn).
Due to Lack of interest Soapboards X-Factor will not be going ahead.
And now that we have more bandwidth and faster hosting we can have the files attached on soapboards!

I only have a microphone that is on my webcam, so I don't know if that would work very well. When were you thinking of starting this? I don't know what song I'd do yet.

Yh, on my old laptp I had it and I used to record stuff on it, but I had audacity on it so you may need something like that im not sure

Go to accessories then entertainment there should be a programe called sound recorder or voice recorder - only problem is it only lasts 60 seconds so maybe not the best idea

When the first 60 seconds has run out you can click the record button again and it will record for another 60 seconds, and just keep doing that, but you do have to record the item again over the top of that, so that it doesn't show the editing sounds!

Erm, if you have the instruction book, it should say in that, if not mine was, if you look along the line where the laptop closes my mike was along that on the left hand side just in front of it (does that make sense), and if you dont have one then their should be a thing next to where you plug your earphones in and it will have a mic symbol and thats where they get plugged in

Is the Soapboards X Factor going ahead then?
This was brought back as many people expressed an intrest at it going ahead. Following this many people who promised to do it have dropped out.
We are below numbers to make this work. To put it simply, unless we get enough participants this competition does not go ahead. Use it or loose it.
Use it guys use it hehe...come on none of us are professionals I'm sure it will be lots and lots of fun :D

Siobhan you so can't go the sympathy vote that was my plan. I was going to do my impression of that woman who thought she was like Madonna last year or if that failed I would do my Chico impression.

well it would take up about a fortnight
you spend one day recording your song, then its uploaded and for a day people vote who they want to save etc, and then the day after you'll record another song etc
theres no set time for you to be online, you record the song at your lesuire and send it to us on the required days

I suppose you can have it on low in the background, as long as the other artist cant really be heard on the recording

Within reason yes. Each night is a different theme, but these are pretty broad themes. You can sing any song of your choice, so long as it fits the theme.

if it's a video then it would be best to upload it to you tube
those who have sound files, then it's best to upload it to any site that allows file uploads.
but dont worry about that everyone, we will be able to sort out all that.

that was the idea, me and Luna were gonna split the 8 contestants into 2 groups and mentor them, so aswell as it being a competiton of the 8, me and Luna would be going head to head just like Sharon and Simon do in the real one

Probably best if we say conestant 1,2,3 etc, so then people are voting for the voice and not the person, it shouldn't be a popularity contest after all! :D

Excellent idea! It will make it doubly interesting as will be trying to figure out who it could be aswell as hearing the singing voice.

As long as you can get it onto your computer, be it using a mike, a phone or a camera that's all you need to worry out, we'll soon sort out ways of getting everyones songs uploaded.
