July 4

Sun Hill and Barton Street Police Station are brought together when Sergeant Nikki Wright (Gillian Taylforth) briefs the troops on the football match they will be policing together later that day.

The officers are reminded to be alert at all times, especially as DC Terry Perkins (Bruce Byron) will be undercover in a pub near the stadium to try and arrest Justin Young (Mark Montgomerie), a supplier of illegally imported goods.

Everything is going according to plan until a fight breaks out in the pub and total pandemonium erupts. Terry finds himself in a terrifying situation alone with Justin in the cellar, while the officers upstairs call for back up to control the brawl. Amid all the chaos, a horrified PC Roger Valentine (John Bowler) discovers Sergeant Doug Wright (Adrian Lukis) has been brutally stabbed…

Elsewhere, Abha Chaudari (Amara Karan) runs out in front of PC Tony Stamp (Graham Cole) and Lewis Hardy’s (Aml Ameen) patrol car, begging them to help her boyfriend Jarvis Lloyd (Daniel Anderson) who has been left unconscious after an attack.

DI Samantha Nixon (Lisa Maxwell) suggests to Trainee DC Kezia Walker (Cat Simmons) that it could be gang related, as Jarvis’s brother was fatally shot by the local Sken gang a year before. When they discover that Dino Harrison (Jason Deer) is the new Sken leader who spends much of his time at Lewis’s cousin’s café, the PC is asked to help with the investigation.

When questioned, Dino tells the officers that they need to look for someone closer to Jarvis if they want to find the attacker. However, further investigation suggests Dino may know more then he’s letting on when Samantha and Kezia discover that he is Abha’s ex boyfriend and she is eight months pregnant…

July 5

New Sun Hill recruits PC’s Sally Armstrong (Ali Bastian) and Billy Rowan (Ben Lee) are thrown in at the deep end on their first day.

During the morning briefing, Superintendent John Heaton (Daniel Flynn) stresses to his team that Sergeant Doug Wright’s (Adrian Lukas) attacker intended to kill and that he may be targeting the police generally.

When DC Terry Perkins (Bruce Byron) discovers that a serrated martial arts knife has been retrieved and sent to forensics, he questions Doug again to see if he can think of anyone that may want to hurt him.

Sergeant Nikki Wright (Gillian Taylforth) suggests Mo Benjamin (Marcel McCalla), a criminal who accused Doug of harassment. As soon as the officers track Mo down, he immediately flees: however, keen to get stuck in, Billy quickly catches up with Mo and is pleased to make his first arrest.

Later in the interview room, Mo becomes increasingly agitated and admits he thinks Doug has it in for him. Mo’s solicitor, Kerry Malcolm (Jan Pearson), warns Terry that all his evidence is circumstantial, although admits that her client is the type to bear a grudge. A frustrated Heaton tells the CID officers that they have to release Mo, as they don’t have enough evidence to charge him.

Out on the beat, a frustrated Nikki continues to puppy walk the new PC’s, with the help of PC Emma Keane (Melanie Gutteridge). After attending a disturbance at a jewellery shop, Sally - with a little help from Billy - makes her first arrest as a Sun Hill officer.

Later, the team are called to an abandoned factory to deal with a report of kids throwing stones. Nikki orders the team to split up into pairs in an attempt to catch the culprits. However, what begins as a seemingly average call-out quickly turns into a nightmare for the four terrified officers…
