Where there's alot of debate about which is the better recording artist, so thought we should do a poll, but here's where it get's a little difficult, coz i love Lily Allen, but hate Amy Wino, but i like some of Amy's songs. It's a problem! lol
Amy Winehouse without one second of hesitation, it's like comparing a supermodel to a labrador in a beauty contest.
Amy has talent, Lilly (what a study name) hasn't. You seriously think she'd be on the scene if it wasnt for her famous father?
I'm not gonna insult anyone who likes Lilly, your choice at the end of the day, but I dont like cheesy tacky pop thats the same old same old, happy happy smiley smiley - makes me want to hurl. To put Tesco in your songs lyrics? What!?
I would support Amy to the max on this, she has raw talent, an intresting personality and back story, and her music is mind blowing.
Amy over Lily any day. I just can't stand Lily, her music is awful and she does my head in. She seems really whiny too.
By the way, who won the Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist this year? :p Oh yes...Amy...not Lilly. :p
The most prestigious music awards in this country can't be wrong. They know true talent when they see it.
I don't like either of them :rotfl:

Indeed. She's only got signed because of her father. And am I right in thinking he wasn't all that successful? (Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just going on a magazine article).
Whos her father?? (feeling very old here... )
Keith Allen I think. He was in the Stones or something like that. More famous for his drug habit I think.

I'm not too sure, all I know is he's in Robin Hood now, dont know about his past. Amy will last the distance, the people will soon get bored of Lilly when the novelty wears off. A talented musician goes the distance, a manufactured pop artists doesnt. History speaks for itself.

To me, Lily doesn't sing, she just talks in her songs?

Very much like The Streets. And very boring. Anybody can talk to a tune but it takes talent to sing.
Back To Black - Amy Winehouse
During its first two weeks on sale, Back to Black sold a total of 70,784 copies in the UK, including 43,021 in its first week. By the end of the year, the album had been certified platinum (300,000 copies shipped). To date, the album has sold more than 989,095 copies in the UK, and for the week ending January 27, 2007, sold 30,000 copies more than any other album.
It achieved its peak of number one on the UK Albums Chart for the week ending January 20, 2007, and with sales of more than 713,100 is currently the UK's biggest-selling album of 2007
If anyone wants to find Lilly's totals then feel free, but these figures speak for themselves - Best Selling Albumn of 2007 - what more can you say?

I dont personally care how many albums either artist has shifted. Its irrelevant. It doesnt for one minute affect my enjoyment of Lily Allen's songs.

The 22-year-old's rise has been sudden and spectacular. Debut single 'Smile' went straight in at number one in the UK, while album 'Alright, Still' has sold more than one million copies and counting.
Its all down to personal choice and likes and dislikes at the end of the day - I'm sure my taste in music is far from a lot of other peoples taste.
We are all, at the end of the day, human, and thats what makes us unique...
BTW - I've lost count of the number of times I've bought an album by an artist, got it home and found that I've hated all bar 3 or 4 songs tops on it..:D

Hate them both. Don't even like one song by either. But I must say Lily has the more catchy songs, as I sometimes find myself singing her songs. But doesn't mean I like them.

That's very true. For example, my mate bought an album the other day, and she only liked 1 song on it. Loved the band. Hated the songs on the new album. Yet her buying that album has still gone towards the sales or whatever.
Also, the music awards are a pile of crap these days anyway. Well any award show is. That's my personal opinion by the way - no one shoot me down. I used to love watching award shows. You wouldn't catch me watching even a little bit of one now, as it's all either fixed or just a pile of crap. :) Doesn't mean anything to how good an artist is I reckon.

Keith Allen did a funny guy.. he did some world cup songs.. Vindaloo.. (video was like Verve's Bittersweet)
I prefer Lily allen.. Amy depresses me with her songs and her looks, at least Lily is happy with what she is doing

I like both Lilly and Amy's songs but I think like Lilly's songs MORE. They are catchy and I enjoy them. But I do agree that Amy is more talented.
Not a great fan of either, to be honest. But marginally, i think Lily is a bit better. Her songs aren't depressing. I dont listen to music to get depressed- you can live life to get that- i like upbeat music, that you can literally get up and dance to, and have a good time. And Lily's songs are more like that than Amy's.

I prefer Amy, but I like Lilly Allen's music, it's very quirky and I've got quite a big range of music taste so I like both :p

True, but at the end of the day it's about someone's opinion of the music, they won't all prefer Amy because she won an award and is more talented
Anyways I voted Like Them Both :D

the poll is about whos better, not whos most popular lol. One singer could have 1000 fans, and another 100 - dont mean the first is better. After all Boy Bands get such big followings, but they arent exactly talented or better lol.
To me if someone wins a Brit Award that shows talent recognised.
But as you say different people will have different opinions on music, after all variety is the spice of life :D

Have to say I prefer Amy, I like her music a lot, I think she's really talented. Lily's songs are catchy, but I'd have to choose Amy over Lily.

I think it must be my age but I don't like any of them, but at least they sing their songs not mime to them like some of today's acts.
