FORMER Bill tough guy Frank Burnside is heading for EastEnders — to romance Fat Pat.

Actor Christopher Ellison, 60, is to play smooth-talking Len Harker, who sweeps Pat Evans off her feet.

They meet when Pat — played by Pam St Clement, 65 — is on holiday on the South Coast and her car breaks down.

Len turns up to save the day and Pat falls for his charming patter.

An insider said: “Pat has been without any romance since her spot of slap and tickle with Patrick.

“She’s a hard woman and normally frightens blokes off, but Len is hooked. Let’s hope this fling has a happier ending than she’s had with any of her previous partners.”

Pat has been through FOUR husband in her 21 years in Albert Square.

She first married Pete Beale — Ian Beale’s dad — but soon left him for Brian Wicks. But Brian beat her up and she fled to Walford, where she wed Frank Butcher. Car salesman Frank’s affair with Peggy Mitchell soon put paid to that.

Pat then married soft touch Roy Evans, who died of a heart attack five years ago after hearing how Pat planned to leave him for ex-flame Frank.

Christopher, who quit as The Bill's Frank Burnside in 2000 after 16 years on the show, said: “I’m very excited.”

EastEnders boss Diederick Santer said: “I’ve been a massive fan of Christopher since he played Burnside so I’m really chuffed to have got him on board.”

Christopher’s first scenes will be on air in August and he will appear in at least four episodes.

Christopher is the latest in a series of new characters joining the show.

Samantha Janus and Rita Simons will arrive this summer as sisters Ronny and Roxy Mitchell.

oh my god - legend. He was one of my favourites in the Bill, good signing for Eastenders. But how many more Bill/Enders connections are there going to be!?

I thought from the title that Frank Butcher was back again to woo Pat (praying this time with clothes on and minus the bow tie  ).

Aw...shame Christopher Ellison is only going to be a temp character from the sound of it...:(

Aw...shame Christopher Ellison is only going to be a temp character from the sound of it...:( At last a reason to watch EE. Was going to say a bit like Grant then :p but that would just me being a smart****. :p I hope they dont ruin his character as they did with the other former Bill hardman Don Beech when they turned him into a wimp. If Christopher is a sucessful in EE as Gina Gold has become in the BILL then who knows EE might be on my Christmas card list again. Anyway at least I will tune in to see him. He cant be as bad as some of the daft nonsense thats ruining EE at the minute

Delusions of grandeur there, Al. :p

And what daft nonsense would that be? Surely not a reference to the ongoing Stax, May/Rob/Dawn/baby, or Marge the missing rodent storylines. :p lol

Burnside was a legend in the Bill. My dear old departed mother used to lust after him when he was on. One of the best actors the show has had. For once EE have made a brilliant decision on bringing Christopher into the show, it's a shame that its only for a short time. I may have to tune into EE myself to see him.

Maybe the new EP will realise its not all about the Magnificent Mitchels.

I loved him in The Bill i just hope the scriptwriters don't mess up like what happen with Billy Murray. I thought it was boring Frank Butcher returning when i first read the thread title. Pat needs a storyline.

Yup I forgot all about those BLACK HOLES they have in those houses LOL Just like the Mitchells they are rolling in moola and seems there is a never ending bank for them and Ian LOL

I am sure that Pat will say something Oh we have space in the attic that can be converted into another room , :p :p Pauline had the same thing done to her house, too bad we never saw the "finished product "

This sounds good. It's also about time Pat got something to do. She's criminally underused.
