View Full Version : Danny Boy The pipes are calling
CORRIE favourite Bradley Walsh is poised for a shock return as wheeler-dealer Danny Baldwin.
He is working desperately hard to go back to the show, which triumphed at the British Soap Awards.
And Street bosses are looking for a way to squeeze Bradley's character back into Weatherfield for a month to boost their ratings.

A Corrie source said: "Danny Baldwin was a brilliant character and was sorely missed when he left.
"Bradley has been in talks about coming back and it's something everyone is keen to make happen.
"It looks as though it will happen in the autumn just before Bradley has to disappear again to star in panto in December. It will be great for the ratings."
Writers are already penning potential plotlines for the return of the former Underworld factory boss. His reappearance would come just months after the car crash death of Paul Connor, who took over Danny's business with his brother Liam.
Street chiefs were caught on the hop when actor Sean Gallagher told them he wanted to quit as Paul several months after joining.
Bradley's character left in disgrace almost a year ago after a passionate fling with son Jamie's girlfriend Leanne Battersby.
Show bosses agreed the actor could return when it suited both parties - and Bradley, 46, signed a £1million golden handcuffs deal with ITV after deciding to take a break from Corrie.

Yes but at least Danny can have a believable return (he wasnt on the run in Brazil) . I dont see why Corrie need to boost their already HIGH ratings either. Maybe if his return is a success (unlike his 'career' in America) then he may become a permenant feature back on the cobbles. :p

I seriously hope his character does make a more permanent return to the street. I like old Bradley Walsh and might even tune in occasionally if he was in it...

Thats what i was thinking. They easily get 9-10m an episode, and thrash everything else on the TV week in week out. Guess they must just want to push themselves.
I didn't mind his character, but i didn't like him much either. If he's given some good stories, then great. Otherwise, it doesn't bother me if he's in it or not.
And just to add, how random are your thread titles?! :rotfl: Gotta love them- you open the thread not quite knowing what to expect

Was going to say Danny Boy the Cobbles are calling but that was too obvious

Well a soap cannot afford to become complacent...its only as good as its last storyline, and I guess there's no harm in bringing back a popular character, even if it is only for a short period of time...:)

They could bring him back into the show by Leeanne turning up at his hotel room as he has requested an escort, could you imagine his face.

I think Corrie needs Danny back, his banter with Liam and Janice was great and it would be intresting to see how he takes to the rest of the Connor family!!!
In the beginning I liked Danny but then he just became Very OTT, so I'm not bothered either way.
However I did think it was a shame when he did leave after the introduction of Paul and Liam Connor the run ins/clashes with these three were great, espec between Danny/Paul (Re the Darts match for the xmas do) and we had loads of potential here, espec with Brother Paul, who unfortunately is no longer around:crying: . Liam will fill the gap nicely and they could create more friction, with real fireworks, between the two by haivng Danny bedding Carla who (Hopefully) will be bedding Liam on a regualr basis by then. Also we have the Leanne factor the last time Danny spoke to Leanne he told her that if he ever saw her again he would kill her. Poor Leanne she would have the Connors and Danny after her blood!
