I'm not the best at computers, so I require some help :).

We bought a new printer today.. it's an all in one (printer, scanner, copyer), and we can't get it to install. We have set it up correctly, we insert the disk, we have to manually click setup, then it comes up with a screen saying "install", so we click it, then nothing happens, it just goes off that screen and back on to the folder..

I've tried the troubleshooter, and pretty much everything I can think of. The website was a load of rubbish. Any suggestions as to what I can do or what's wrong?

I can do some screen prints if needed..

I'd ring up the manufacturer, tell them what it's doing, and ask them to send you another disc. I had a disc that would go back onto the folder once and was told there was a problem with that disc.

How long have you waited after the install windows vanishes?

Did you put the disk in first or connect the USB? Some printers require you to plug the USB in first (not that it makes much of a difference in my experience).
Make sure you'refollowing the right instructions for your OS as XP usually differers from 2000, ME etc in the setup.

Windows XP.
And, well it varies, sometimes a while, other times not so long, the first time we waited a while. Although I must say... when I thought about uninstalling the other printer, then restart the computer (as it prompted me to), as it prepared to restart, a setup thing came up, but it was too late.. do you reckon I've kinda screwed it up lol??

My dad set it up following the instructions given, so it was the USB first then the disk.. which is what it said...
