Read this in The Sun yesterday....

DOCTOR Who actress Freema Agyeman has been axed from the next series, The Sun can reveal.

Pretty Freema, 27, only joined the BBC1 sci-fi hit as the Timelord’s new companion Martha Jones at the beginning of the current series three.

We told how the struggling actress scooped the role after Billie Piper quit. But show chiefs think her performance is not as strong as in her earlier episodes.

And they are planning a storyline where the Doctor, played by David Tennant, will lose her and travel through the universe searching for her.
The decision to dump Freema comes as a bolt from the blue after her performance for the first couple of episodes was praised.

A source said: “Freema is very talented but we don’t think she is just right on Doctor Who. None of this is being done with any malice. Freema’s a lovely girl.”

Freema has previously admitted that she had a tough job to fill Billie’s boots. Billie, who played Rose Tyler, left at the end of the second series.

Christopher Eccleston stunned the BBC by quitting as the Timelord after the first series of the revamped drama in 2005.

Meanwhile current star Tennant is still believed to be making just part of series four, which starts filming in Wales this summer.

A spokeswoman for the show refused to comment.

Dont know whether to belive it or not because this is The Sun thats reporting it... but if its true... whos going to take over next?
The shows has enough disruption as it is.
I like Martha... :thumbsdow

Well she was on Johnathon Ross on Friday and nothing was said, it is the sun though not evrything they say is true.
To be honest i am more fussed about David Tenant only filming part of series 4  :(

The BBC have told Freema's website that its a bunch of rubbish. And apparently a "solid" source has told them the same (The Sun gets everyone and they're dog as a source).

I dont mind her now. I dont think shes as bad as they're making out..

She has had a tough act to follow after Billie Piper. If she is to be axed it would be a shame they should wait until the end of the series then discuss if she is to return for series 4

I agree, Kath. I don't see how they could really finish a series without her, because the doctor is hardly likely to ditch her after she nearly refused to stay with him, or return for the next episode a week later if he lost her in a similar way to how he did Rose.

I don't mind her, and I thought I wouldn't be able to stand her. Seeing the doctor go off on his own as he did at the end of the christmas episode is worse.

I don't want Tennant to quit, but in some ways, reading that has been good as in The Sun late last year, it said he wouldn't be doing Series 4 at all.

I think the Sun has to be read with no believing it all as they are usually wrong. I have to say i like her, i think she is really growing on me as a character.

I'd prefer if they re cast the role of Rose like they did with the Doctor.
