10th April Chris Hemsworth films final scenes
It's been a rumour for what seems like years now but this week The Herald Sun reported that Chris Hemsworth is finally filming his last scenes as Kim Hyde.
Hot on the heels of a number of cast departures it seems Chris too is finally packing his bags and heading to LA for meetings with agents and casting directors.
He will appear on screen as Kim up until June and ideas of just how he'll depart are already being discussed on our forum.
6th April Bye Bye Beth
It's been rumoured for a long while, and her removal from the credits a few weeks ago added fuel to the fire, but now it seems like the rumours are true. Beth Hunter, who arrived in the bay back in 2004, is set to leave the show after after being involved in a tragic accident.
She will leave Australian screens for good in a few weeks time.
Her departure from the show is being discussed over on our forum.
2nd April Kochie to star on the show
David Koch, co-host of Australia's Sunrise breakfast programme, is to star in Home and Away. The Daily Telegraph reports that Koch, affectionatly known as "Kochie" to viewers, has revealed he'll be making his acting debut on the show next month.
Koch has made no secret to viewers that he and his family are huge fans of the show, often talking about it on his breakfast program.
It's currently unknown how he'll be appearing, and it remains to be seen whether he will be appearing in a cameo role or as a guest character.
24th March Danny Raco returns to the Bay
After sailing off into the sunset with Brodie (Susie Rugg), Alex Poulos is making a shock return to Summer Bay.
Danny Raco is reprising the role of the popular young Greek. His return will coincide with Ada Nicodemou's return after her honeymoon, with their characters returning from Greece together. No word as to how long he is in the bay for, but get set to see another Josh West- style character arc - Alex is out to cause trouble.
24th March Nic Bishops hands in badge
Hot on the heels of Holly Brisley's departure, Nicolas Bishop has revealed he has quit the show to pursue opportunities in the UK. Details are unknown about when he will leave, but he has plans to go to the UK in June, according to his interview in TV Week.
24th March Holly leaves home
After almost two years as the manipulative Amanda Vale, Holly Brisley will be leaving the show. She will be having a break in Sydney for a month before jetting off to Europe with her husband, mareketing executive Paul Ford.
Brisley says of her time on H&A: "There is a sadness about leaving such a nice group of people, but I guess it is time to move on to the next stage." It remains to be seen how she be written out of the weeknightly soap, although Brisley hints that there is a possiblity for a return.
24th March New Home and Away Star
Lincoln Lewis, son of Australian rugby league star Wally Lewis, has landed himself a guest role on Home and Away. Following in his father's footsteps, he will be playing a football star, in a role which could see potentially him landing a full time part in the show.
The actor has already had experience appearing alongside Home and Away stars. In 2006, he starred in Voodoo Lagoon, featuring Beau Brady (Noah Lawson), and Aquamarine/H20 featuring Tammin Sursok (Dani Sutherland).
He will make his debut on Australian screens in June.

I'm glad that Sam is leaving, cause I don't really like her... and this may mean that Jack and Martha get back together???

I can't remember how Dan goes, I've read it somewhere, think its got something to do with Leah and their marriage.

I think Martha and Jack may get back together, not sure if that is official. Will have to wait and see :)

No doubt the fans are disturbed by the number of actors choosing to not re-sign their contracts. This has always been a factor with the show, and even more so these days with the lure of Hollywood, although it is unusual to have this number choose to move on at the same time. Trust me, none of these departures are write outs. In each case the actor chose to leave. As I'm a glass half full sort of guy, I prefer to embrace this as a storyteller to allow me to tell exciting stories that give the actors interesting departures and lead those characters who remain in to exciting new drama.
Dan's departure will do great honor to both the character and Tim's excellent work in bringing him to life. As I created the character of Dan Baker during my last stint as Script Producer, I am glad to be around to see Dan get the send-off he deserves. This story leads Leah in to moving and interesting new story areas. Those who have been screaming for Leah to get her own story, trust me she gets it now that Dan is leaving. And NO, they will NOT break up. To do that to them would betray you the viewers and the love you have for them as a couple.
Rhys's character of Lucas follows the time honored tradition in "Home and Away" of sending kids off to Uni when they get to a certain age. His departure puts Tony in to the interesting position of being virtually a single man again, and this propels him in to a great new romantic triangle. For those fans who love him, Lucas's leaving makes HotDad hotter than ever.
There are also some really compelling new characters coming in to the show and the return of one old villain will change the lives of many favorites forever. The fans can trust my promise that the Bay may be losing some popular residents, but the show will be more exciting than ever.
Its going to be very werid with so many leaving, it will be like a whole new cast!!! :eek:

After Geoff and Annie got kicked out of home, Bruces illness has got worse and he is now in hospital. Geoff and Annie have tried to make up to Bruce and offered to run the farm while he is in hospital, he doesn't want this as he has hired Jonah as the farm hand to run the farm. Irene was not happy when she found out and tried to change Bruce's mind, but he is being stubborn and insists that Jonah works the farm
Oh exciting stuff ahead then... sorry to see Sally go..

It is with great regret that we announce the tragic death of Dan Baker. Dan plummets to his death whilst abseiling in the Yellowstone National Park in the USA. In a shock twist, one resident has a supernatural hand in Dan's death and feels fully responsible....
Without a doubt, many fans will be wondering why the writers have decided to kill Dan off. It certainly wouldn't have been an easy decision for them, but once you put it into perspective, there really wasn't much choice.
There was no way that the writers could split Dan and Leah up. Just as Bevan told BTTB back in September, it would betray the viewers and the adoration they have for Dan & Leah as a couple.
If they went with the storyline of a long distance relationship, it would tie Leah down too much and consequently there would be very little in terms of storylines for her.
Leah joining Dan was out of the question, as Ada has no intentions to leave in the near future. Finally there has been far too much on-screen death on the show in recent times, so that only leaves the option of an off-screen death.
Don't let that put you down though, from what I gather the storyline of Dan's death will be handled with the upmost respect for his character and will pay huge respect to the love that him and Leah shared. The aftermath of his death will be felt for months and months, and will alter the lives of many. It also opens up a whole new storyline for Leah which will see her becoming a much more central role in the lives of the kids in Summer Bay, a big plus for the Ada fans!
Amanda also start filming her first scenes on the same day as Dan's wake is being filmed.

Oh my gosh, Dan dies? :( I like Dan. Poor Leah. But I'm glad that Ada isn't leaving.
Some of these are just rumours that I have heard on other forums, some are confirmed.
Rachel gets pregnant then loses the baby.
Cassie goes to prison for drink driving.
A new doctor comes to town, Lewis. He's the hospital stalker.
Season finale spoiler: Someone arrives in Summer Bay looking for Sally Fletcher and their arrival will change Sally's life forever.
*Rumour* Johnny is coming back as part of Sally's exit

I would love this to be true. I can't think of any other reason Johnny would come back, it's not as if he has any other ties with the place apart from Sally, Brad and Ric.

We're about three months behind at the moment. Because Australia have a six week break during their summer we'll only be 6 weeks behind when they return.
The Australian season finale is the last week in November. S&J's wedding and the beginning of Sall's exit starts that week. We'll probably see that around late Jan/early Feb.
Not sure when Bruce dies, it must be soon because it happened in Australia about 8 weeks ago.
I forgot to mention that Rachel also gets attacked by the hospital stalker (Lewis) in the finale week.

While Australia take a season break we carry on with the episodes, so each year we're catching up with Australia. When Five bought H&A from ITV seven years ago we were one year behind because Five weren't allowed to show any episodes for a year. Now we're catching up each year, I read somewhere that we'll always be a month or so behind once we've caught up so we'll have a break over Xmas as well.
Really? Before or after she is pregnant.. or is that why she is pregnant?
After she loses the baby I think.

Yeah, Rachel faints at work and finds out she's pregnant. She miscarries at two weeks or something like that. That bit has already happened in Aus from what I've read. She gets attacked in the season finale week by the stalker who is masquerading as her boyfriend.
Its about time Rachel had some happiness.

Home & Away actress Sharni Vinson has decided to quit the soap so that she can move to America to be with her boyfriend, CSI: NY actor A.J. Buckley.
Vinson, who plays Cassie Turner on the Australian show, met Buckley during a trip to Los Angeles earlier this year and the pair have kept a long-distance relationship ever since.
Reports claim she wants to move to be closer to him and to attempt to crack a career in Hollywood, where she has reportedly already made "great contacts".
Channel Seven, which airs Home & Away, has not yet made an official comment on the departure because Vinson will be seen on screen until the middle of next year.
The news comes after her colleagues Kate Ritchie and Isabel Lucas also quit the soap.

Luke's character in Home and Away Lewis Rigg is also another step away from the indigenous roles he has played in the past, coming to Summer Bay instead as a hospital intern and evolving in to Summer Bay's new love-rat. A likeable lad with a fondness for the girls, Lewis snares a few hearts along his way, including Dr Rachels. However not all the girls are impressed by his charming ways!
“Having a love interest is a challenge because there haven't been too many roles where I've had to be intimate with another actor…and I can tell you I was so nervous doing those scenes,” he said.
There are two sides to charming Lewis however with a darker side being revealed when he is crossed. His previous life as an 'ambo' left him scarred and bruised because of the treatment by doctors and nurses. Although he saved people's lives he was seen as a glorified courier which eventually led him to uni to do his degree in medicine as a way of getting back at those people who had tried to bring him down.
