Yes, and if you having to have then you have nothing to worry about, slighty uncomfortable, but they are fine. If your worried they usually let you choose between a local and general anaesthetic.

Thank you. Yes unfortunetly i am having to get it done either this month or next depending on how busy the hospital is. Did you get an anesthetic? What was it like?

I had mine done with a Local, but that's coz i wanted to try and watch, but to be honest, that wasn't the best one for me, coz by the time you've got everyone crowding round you, you can't see anything anyway, and then i just felt a bit claustrophobic. after i just slept for like an hour really deep and they had to come and come and wake me up, to send me home. lol

My mum had one of those without any anesthetic or pain relief. The hospital knew she was allergic to a certain anesthetic and the only anesthetic they stocked on the ward was... the one she was allergic to. They hadn't even bothered to read her notes and order a different anesthetic. She's also allergic to the pethdine which was the only strong painkiller the had.

So there's a tip: if you're allergic to anything ring the ward when you get you're appointment and make sure they have an alternative.
