Little Riddle For You

A Friend emailed this to me the other day and it's been driving me crazy.

It has many feathers to help it fly. It has a body and head, but is not alive. It is your strength which determines how far it goes. You can hold it in your hands, but it's never thrown.

What is it?

Im stumped, can you figure it out?

I think it's an "Arrow".


It is your strength which determines how far it goes
As you need to pull the arrow back on to a bow for it to fly.


You can hold it in your hands, but it's never thrown
You can hold it but you don't technically throw it as it is fired from a bow.


It has a body and head, but is not alive
The end of an arrow is called the arrow head, so the body would be the thin part of the arrow.
