Fans can always expect a dramatic finale to the end of each series and it looks like this year will be no exception.
The finale to Series 19, due to be screened in four months time, is currently being filmed in Plymouth.
The storyline involves a black Peugeot 306 careering out of control and over the edge of the Barbican quayside.
The crash, which drew a crowd of onlookers, was a carefully choreographed stunt which will form part of the season finale for this series of the medical drama.
The highlight of the filming schedule involved attaching the Peugot to a high-pressured machine which fired it forward with a bang over the edge of the quay and into Sutton Harbour.
A stuntman just managed to get out of the way in time as the vehicle crashed over the dockside and plunged into the water.
More than 100 onlookers who gathered to watch the drama unfold yesterday were kept behind barriers during the filming.
Four dummies were stationed inside the vehicle and a team of extras gathered around the car, ready for the action shots.
A host of cameras were positioned around the scene as the area next to takeaway Cap'n Jaspers was transformed into a film set.
The crowds who gathered to watch the filming were rewarded with a close-up view of the crash stunt, which was greeted with applause.
Matthew Wait, who plays paramedic Luke Warren, was also at dockside to watch the action. It has been rumoured that other stars from the series will also be attending the filming.
However BBC bosses kept tight-lipped about the stunt - and even more tight-lipped over the new Casualty episodes.
The Plymouth scenes are expected to be part of an 'end of season' show, scheduled for August or September.
wow looks good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
