Just wondered if anyone is taking part in this event. I'm doing it for my second year on the 24th of June at Tatton Park. Really looking forward to it.

Also does anyone know what version of "Were all together now" they play on the advert for this event???

I ran it last year in Edinburgh but I haven't decided if I'm going to do it this year yet.

My sister in law is doing it this year - in different circumstances, I would join her, but unfortunately can't. Maybe next year though (if hubby manages to stay at home for one day to have the boys).

I've sponsored my sister in law though and a few other friends I know that are taking part this year.

I not that fit either but last year I did do some running before the race for life just to get me in the mood, but this year I haven't done any. I know its only 3.5 miles but 2.5 of those miles are all uphill.

Does it take place in any part of the UK? Or specific parts?

They have races all over the UK. Check out for one near your here-

The one in Edinburgh is round holyrood park, the last third is downhill - and for the first 2/3s you have to run up a blooming mountain, lol.

You can walk if you like - it is only women and none competitive ( unless you are doing it with competitive friends!)

It is ony 5km =3 miles

I just think it's a great day, feels totally amazin but it's also very emotional as you go round the course and read what people have wrote on there backs for why they are running it.
I lost my shoe last year in the mud, managed to find it and ended up running the last 2 miles with a shoe full of sloppy mud. So my trainers ended up in the bin after that. The course i run is really good, the other thing i don't like is how they mark the course out as they mark it in Km and i thought it was in miles so i'm running round and thinking wow this is easy done 2 miles already where as in fact i had only done 2km lol.

I am doing it this year, for the second time.

I'm taking part in Folkestone (Kent), which is the same place as last year. It's a real pain doing it there, since it is about an hour-long drive from home, but I'm doing it with a friend so I can't exactly complain.

The first part of the course is along the sea front - so it is VERY windy. Last year I spent part of the course chasing my back sign along the road, looking like a mad woman.

I think I raised £125 last year, and got a free watch. :D

I had planned on running the Regents Park one. But you have to be 18 to do it individually, and no one i know will run it as a group. So i'm going to run it next year, for sure. Its a great cause, and its not like its even long

We had a lecturer at the college, who died of cancer recently (well 2 actually) Irene was 42 she taught lanauges and tourism and Gordon 53 who taught motor vehicle both died three weeks apart. Four of Irene's friend from the college are running the Edinburgh event in memory of her.
