Just found this on BBC NEWS, so it looks official:

Brand quits Big Brother spin-off

Brand has presented the Big Mouth show since 2004
Comedian Russell Brand is leaving the E4 show Big Brother's Big Mouth after three years to pursue other projects.
Announcing his decision, the flamboyant presenter, 31, thanked programme-makers for "taking the risk of employing an ex-junkie twerp" to front the show.

The Big Brother spin-off is among the highest-rated programmes on digital channel E4, with up to 1.4m viewers.

Brand currently presents a weekly show on BBC Radio 2, and is due to appear in the new St Trinian's film.

"The three years I've spent on Big Brother's Big Mouth have been an unprecedented joy," said the presenter in a statement.

"Big Mouth has afforded me opportunities that are too exciting to turn down, so alas I can do it no more.

"And whilst I recognise this isn't as significant as the resignation of Beckham or the Cuban missile crisis, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone."

Brand had a rocky start to his career, losing several jobs because of erratic behaviour - often caused by a dependency on drink and drugs.

He got his big break on Big Brother's Big Mouth in 2004, a year after celebrity agent John Noel sent him to rehab.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 said: "Russell Brand has been a fantastic front man for E4's Big Brother's Big Mouth for the past three years. We wish him all the best in his new adventures."

things are not looking good for BB at the moment they are going to have to act fast to replace Russell as it's only a few weeks until bb returns.

Ok so Brand is quitting BBBM and if I am right doesn't the auditions for X factor start in the summer so O'Leary won't be there either.. are they going to replace both and with who??? Maybe Kate Thornton and Louis Walsh can replace them as they are both out of a TV job this year :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Now theres an idea siobhan, i think you could be onto something there.

It doesnt look good for the start of BB though, therell need a pretty big character to compete with Brand.

to be fair this wont affect Big Brother, as they are only spin off shows.

BBLB has been stale for a long time, they might aswell drop it as barely anyone watches it. 7:30pm on e4, it clashes with Corrie and Eastenders. If they keep it they need to really revamp it.

As for BBBM, I reckon they will keep it as it's one of E4's most sucessful shows. Given a good presenter like Avid Mirren or a duo like Justin Lee Collins & Alan Carr, and a bit of a revamp I reckon it could be a lot better. I'd rather see a panel show with the presnter, ex houseamtes, some Z list celebs, and calls from the viewers, but not a studio audience, thats the one fault with BBBM i think...
