Scarlet fever

My little man has got scarlet fever and im worried sick,has anyone else come into contact with this before,He was in hospital tonight and had got two lots of meds and he is highly contagious (meaning my other two will deffo get it) I already have got a sore throat so im suspecting i have it and the rash etc is to follow.
He has had the rash since friday and a temp even calpol couldnt bring down,i phoned hosp sat night and they said it sounds like hives but didnt say to come in so i left it.He had his ups and downs so i left it until yest when he got worse and took him to local docs but because he was freaking out he didnt want the doc looking at him,i was trying and struggling my best to keep him still so she could have a llook but he was kicking and screaming etc and all she could say was dies he normally behave like this?
She didnt even attempt to rise from her chair and get a proper look at him she just agreed with what the docs had told me over the phone without even looking at it.
Hes not eating,i have to virtually force him to drink,his eyes can barely stay open,his glands are high,rashy bright red and spotty.I am worried sick but at least now i know what the problem is i can do my best to deal with it,im just joping i wont get it too bad so i can give them the best care poss as my other two look set to get it.
Any advice? I know all the stuff about using separate towels cutlery etc.Has anyone else experianced this?

Years ago if you were diagnosed with Scarlet Fever you were put in an isolation ward.

Hope the wee man will be ok. Get the bloody doctor out to check on him thats what they are paid for

Chance Marley caught Scarlett Fever four years ago while she was at the nursery, her cheeks were all red and rashy and her tounge was white with little spots that it looked like a strawberry. She also had a high temp and a sore throat. I had taken her to the see the health visitor to ask for advice on what it was and she suspected it was Scarlett fever, but when I took her to the doctors he dismissed it as just a viral infection and I was to give her calpol and plenty fluids. Three days later I got a call from my childminder to say that there had been an outbreak of it at the nursery that Marley attended. I had to take her to the hospital as it was the May bank holiday weekend and the doctors surgery was closed. At the hospital they gave her penicillin and I was took to keep her indoors for two weeks and not to share any cutlery or towels as its highly contagious. I was adviced to keep given her calpol to lower her temp and make sure she gets plenty of fluids. It was horrendous the weather was gorgeous and we were stuck in doors and I was supposed to go to seville to see Celtic in the UEFA cup final.

I think its shocking that in today's society that victorian diseases are making a return. the Government needs to address its policy and procedures on people coming to live and work in the UK from countries with a poor health service. They have to enforce that everyone has the proper vaccinations against all these dieases. The same has to apply to British citizens visiting countries with poor health service that they have all the neccessary vaccinations so they don't bring back any diseases with them, as they don't have to suffer the symptoms they can just be a carrier.

How long did it take for her to get over it once on penicillan?
I have today and my daughter been diagnosed with it so we are all on penicillan,its the real sore throat thats bugging me most

She was kept indoors for two weeks which was a real pain because we couldn't even go to the shops I had to get family members to buy food for me. It took about 12 days for the rash and strawberry tounge to disappear but she was on the penicilling for about 3 weeks as I had to finish the dosage. It was a complete nightmare as she was only 4 at the time and she wanted to out and play at her cousins and she didn't understand why she had to stay indoors.

Did Public Health talk to you about it at all? I remember having the spanish inquisition from them when Ci had Meningitis.

No heard nothing yet from public health,i was thinking maybe we picked it up in the usa.. you never know although my mum said she heard a school in my town had a few cases of it 2 weeks ago so im not sure where its came from.
Sonny is alot better today then he has been,my throat hurts less,strangley enough i was up all night being sick and as soon as i was puking my throat seemed to hurt less each time,i feel alot better today also.
Hit sonny the worst as he had it for 5 days without the meds and a dianosis where as myself and shannon are both on meds at the start of it so hopefully and looks like less severe for us.Shannon has the rash like sonny and bit grouchy but seems ok-ish,has done no favours for her excema though!

Yes thanks we all recovered pretty quick after getting the penicillan,although sonny still has a rash,im wondering whether to take him back to docs as im not sure it normal to have rash for so long??
