Eileen Grimshaw has always been a bit mad (how else does one survive being part of the Streetcars team) but she's about to go absolutely crackers!
Faced with the prospect of losing her beloved Holly, we are going to see a very unhinged side of Eileen – and it's going to leave her friends and family desperately worried about her. The problem arises when Holly's mum Emma sees newspaper reports about Tracy Barlow's trial and twigs that it was Charlie Stubbs, not Jason, who fathered Holly. Realising she's made a huge error, the youngster will pitch up at the Grimshaw gaff and try to take back her little girl.
But having taken Holly into her heart, Eileen will have no intention of handing her back to the girl who ditched her on their doorstep. Cue a battle over who will get custody of the adorable tot. Can Eileen convince the authorities that it's her who should bring up Holly?
Talking of custody problems, Jerry Morton's barely been in the Street five minutes and he's already got one. With little Kayleigh struggling to adapt to life in Weatherfield, Jerry was forced to allow her to return to her mother's house.
However, it transpires that life for the little one is much more complicated than Jerry could have imagined. For poor Kayleigh is having to grow up fast after her useless mum Teresa abandoned her younger brother Finlay to swan off somewhere – and Kayleigh stepped in to play mother.
When Jerry smells a rat about the lifestyle his daughter is leading and stumbles upon the truth, he's got a big decision to make. Finlay is the product of Teresa's affair with his best mate, but the little lad's in need of Jerry's help. Has the Morton patriarch got it within himself to take on another man's child?
Finally, we always knew getting involved with Tracy Barlow was the biggest mistake that Steve McDonald could ever make. But having blown his chances with Michelle Connor, he was more than a bit desperate.
However, with the trial soon to be over, times are changing for Mr McDonald – especially when he gets full-time custody of Amy. And there is nothing more appealing to a single mum than seeing a devoted single dad struggling to do right by his kids.
So imagine Steve's delight when his new found circumstances work like a charm on Michelle and the duo get closer than ever. Glad to have a shoulder to cry on, Steve leans on his gorgeous gal pal and continues to hope that one day she'll find his charms irresistible.
But given that Steve can't help but ruin it every time that Michelle gets close to him, we aren't holding out too much hope for a happy ever after just yet.
Can Steve persuade Michelle that the time is right to give him his chance?
