ABC has confirmed that a fourth season of Lost has been given the go-ahead.
The green light, which was announced by the network's entertainment president Stephen McPherson at the March Development Meeting in Los Angeles, comes despite a downtick in total viewer numbers during the third season. Last month, ABC attempted to boost ratings by airing repeats in place of sitcoms, a strategy that worked when the reruns outperformed the shows it replaced. However, the show continues to win its 10pm timeslot in the adults 18-49 demographic and remains one of America's top ten most-watched shows.
