If anyone is familiar with the disorder obsessive compulsive disorder please
reply to this post. I think i have suffered from OCD for over a year now, I quite frequently get intrusive thoughts of violence etc that are very different from my normal thoughts and due to the anxiety these thoughts create I have to think of 'happy thoughts' to make them go away. I also have a quite clear obsession with tidyness, neatness, order and symmetry My bedroom is almost always immaculate and by immaculate, I mean clothing in my wadrobe go in order of length and coat hangers are equally apart, my entire bedroom is ordered and to perfection. I know I should bring this issue up with my GP but I'm scared of sounding insane, as i'm not, i'm very much in touch with reality and realise that my obsessions are excessive and unreasonable and are a product of my own mind.

I can almost assure you that the doctor won't think you're insane. They deal with this sort of thing all the time. It's not something that should be ignored - particulatly if you're worried about it. If you are scared about going to a GP though, perhaps you could go to a councillor... are you in school? Do they have a councillor there? Or some other form of health clinic or something along them lines. I have no experience with this, so it's only what I think you should do. Don't ignore it though, as it may get worse.

My brother-in-law has a form of OCD. Please go and see your GP, he or she will explore forms of treatment, for example antidepressants or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, or a combination of both. GPs deal with this all the time, so your doctor will not think you are insane. Go make that appointment and let us know how you get on.

I thinkm a trip to the GP Is in order, they wont think anything of it. Its pretty common from the video i saw in Psychology. Theres so many things that you can do to try and stop it from intervering with your life.
