View Full Version : How proud of my boys am I!!!
A little while back, you'll probably remember me shouting from the rooftops of how proud I was of Stephen for being enrolled in NAGTY etc.
Well.....Ciaran has only been at school since January and his school have enrolled him in a Primary Gifted and Talented Youth register for his reading and maths which apparently are the same level as Yr 2-3 students!
They obviously take after me of course...who else would they get their intelligence from :D :rotfl:

Oh my gosh, wow, that's incredible! Well done to Ciaran! You must be a very proud mother right now :D.
Congratulations on both of your childrens achievements. You must be very proud of them both and of course of yourselves too. :)
Thats really a great acheivement for such a young age. I know my mum has someone that gufted once every few years/

Congratulations to Ciaran you and Paul must be so proud of your boys. The intelligence must come from you Ems the good things always come from the mums.
Well according to my mum, I was an Ox-bridge candidate, until I discovered booze, fags and boys!!
I'm so proud of them I can't put it into words tbh.
Although it would be nice if one parent had been as pleased, rather than saying that I had to be joking that they got their intelligence from me - I've just put it down to jealousy. (and that was only when she was asking about Ste - she doesn't know about Ci yet!)

DEfinate Jelousy, she just wants her kids to be as good.
well done ste and ci :cheer:
I think it comes from paul :p

:rotfl: :rotfl:
In the words of the man himself - "I'm (Paul) good at lifting heavy things - its the wife with the brains!"
He's even got a "Brawn" Welsh shirt instead of the "Brains" one cos he said he could never say he had any (bless him!) :rotfl:
Katy - I think it is this. The mum in question is a school teacher and was questioning me on how Ste came to be enroled with NAGTY and couldn't work out why her son wasn't (as she thinks he is of higher intelligence). When I explained it was to do with his CAT scores when he started college (he scored an average of 136 overall, whereas the nationwide average is 100, and her son scored 116 average overall) she then started spouting about it not being from my side of the family. She seems to think that just because I am a WAHM (work at home mum), I have no intelligence.
I wonder how she would react if I informed her that her son is bullying others at the college to the point where one doesn't want to go anymore...:hmm:
But anyway....I'm proud...:D

Well of course teachers are smarter, at least the majority of us think that. But anyway congrats and let her talk all she wants her child isn't in the program and yours is!!!!

It just goes to show that a child doesn't have to have well-educated parents to be clever. As long as they put in the hard work and have love and support at home from thier parents they can do better than the so-called snobs who think they are above anyone else. don't let this woman's nasty comments bother you Ems you and Paul should be very proud of you're children.

I won't Kath dont worry - she may be a PE teacher, but she wouldn't know how to put an aircraft engine together or know how its made from wax to the final alloy product (which I can :p to her)

Exactly Shiv :rotfl:
Well, I shall be doing the same with Liam and IF the same happens with him, either I have very strong genes or the CD is to do with it.
I reckon it is a bit of both.. you are obviously passing on the intelligence gene but you are also encouraging it by reading, playing music and working with your kids. I am doing the same with my two and so far Charley is doing extremely well in school and Ben loves his story at night.. he is picking up words so quickly now

one thing pe teachers still have another subject that they teach aswell not just pe as our teachers at our school have art, it, science and something else that they are qualified as aswell and they still have theory lessons to teach so are the same as any other teacher
and you must be very proud of having both your sons G&T
Believe me Sam - if you knew this mum, you'd know where I was coming from - shes a supply PE teacher, forces her son to play all manner of sports, her hubby we've nicknamed Col Mustard as he is ex army and a complete pratt basically and they seem to want to live their lives through their children rather than let them have a childhood. Their children MUST be better than anyone elses or it isn't good enough etc.

i'm not saying your wrong for saying it, you obviously know what she does i was just saying our pe teachers at our school do a lot of work
if the parents are like that in the end the children will end up hating their parents, so in the long run making them do all the sports wont help
