Take That have had their hits turned into a stage musical, following in the footsteps of Abba and Queen.
The show, Never Forget, will tell the fictional story of a Take That tribute band and include songs such as Relight My Fire, Pray, Back for Good and Babe.

It will visit cities including London, Manchester and Cardiff from August, with tickets on sale from Wednesday.

It comes after the real band's hugely successful comeback. Their next UK tour recently sold out in just three hours.

The new stage show has been described as a "feel-good comedy about love, friendship, ambition and betrayal".

'Creating a legacy'

Producer Tristan Baker said: "We are the biggest fans of Take That's music and we are so excited about the wonderful opportunity to create a new musical based on the fantastic catalogue of their work.

"We look forward to creating a legacy with these well-loved songs in the way that shows such as Mamma Mia! have done before."

Producers licensed the music from EMI before Take That reformed and once again began having number one hits.

The story was created by TV writer Danny Brocklehurst, who has worked on Shameless and Clocking Off.

Never Forget follows in the tradition of the worldwide smash hit Abba musical Mamma Mia! and the long-running Queen show We Will Rock You.

It will be staged at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff, Glasgow's King's Theatre, the Manchester Opera House, the Regent Theatre in Stoke-on-Trent and the Edinburgh Playhouse, before reaching London's West End.

Take That Musical: A Statement from Take That!
Source: Take That Press Office
We have been asked to post the following Official Statement from Take That regarding the above musical!

"There have been reports in the press today about a ‘Take That musical’. The band would like to state categorically that this production is being undertaken with neither their involvement nor their endorsement. They would wish their fans and the general public to know that this production is absolutely and 100% nothing to do with Take That."

We were all rather excited about the news of Take That being turned into a musical...

But it seems the boys themselves are not so pleased.

They apparently tried to stop the stage show going ahead.

Now, why would that be a problem?

Well, originally it wasn't, and the boys were loving the idea, so much so that they gave Never Forget (that's the show) their backing.

And it was even suggested Gary Barlow would pen some of the songs for it.

But things changed quickly - after the success of their comeback tour and album last year.

The tickets for the musical went on sale yesterday regardless and the boys are now considering their legal position.

So things are really heating up for those concerned, and loyalties are being tested...

Take That's choreographer Kim Gavin was part of the bunch who actually owned the right to turn their songs into a musical - but he's thrown in the towel to show his support to the boys.

Seems there may be quite a battle ahead.
