View Full Version : JUNE leaves with???
Its in Todays Sun
VETERAN The Bill regular Sergeant June Ackland finally hands in her warrant card on Thursday – 23 years after first walking the beat of Sun Hill.
And to mark the momentous occasion, fans can watch June’s career highlights in an exclusive video montage produced for The Sun.
June, played by Trudie Goodwin, has appeared in 1,005 episodes of the ITV1 police series since it began as a pilot called Woodentop in 1983.
She has been through a lot since then, having been shot at three times and raped twice.
She has also had liaisons with four male colleagues before marrying Jim Carver, played by Mark Wingett, in 2004.
June has also seen a lot of changes in the force – when she first started as a rookie cop, she even had a handbag as part of her uniform.
June will exit the series with new fiancé Rod Jessop, played by Richard Hope, on Thursday.
But it won’t be an easy departure after ex-husband Jim turns up and forces her to choose between him and Rod.
“It’s certainly a shock for June to see Jim again,” says Trudie. “She’d closed that chapter of her life a long time ago, and Jim brings back all the old memories and feelings.”
And she adds: “I’ve known June for 23 years of my life, so it won’t be easy to let her go.
“But I’m looking forward to trying out new activities. It’s an exciting time and I’m going to take some time to check things out and explore opportunities.
“I’ve had such a wonderful time on The Bill, and I know I really have made some friends for life.”
June’s final episode airs on ITV1 at 8pm on Thursday

I am so pleased that she leaves with Rod - I know Jim and June have history etc, but he moved on - he can't keep coming back into her life. And to force her to choose between Rod and himself - well serves him right!

But this is a spoiler thread :p :D
I just think there is far too much water under the bridge with Jim and June and whilst there will always be a "connection" between them, I think the situation this way is far better

I secretly wanted her to go with Rod to start fresh away from Sun Hill.

i think if she really wants to settle down and retire Rod is the one for her!
If you go here http://www.thebill.com/page.asp?partid=335 there is a montage film of June's time on TB, right from the pilot episode of Woodentops.

I know this sound bizzare and out there but I would have liked to see her leave with Tony... he always had a thing for her and always looked after her

I think she should leave with Jim too. After all they came in to The Bill together in the very first episode. Somehow it would seem fitting that they leave it together.
Did anybody think Jim looked really old last night?
If she leaves with Rod she'll probably have a nice, comfortable, "safe" life with him. With Jim there would be a bit of excitement.
Is Rod going to retire too?

Had I not read (and written) the spoilers I would have thought she would have left with Jim. I will miss June

Hear hear Alan. June will be sadly missed. The episode was in keeping with the high standard of recent stories in The Bill. It's currently on top form.:)
Enjoyed it last night. Even though I'd seen who she allegedly left with, even right till the end, I thought she might go with Jim. I'm of the personal opinion that she made the right choice with Rod. She'll always have a place for Jim in her heart, but too much water under the bridge, too many things have happened and like she said, yes she still loves him, but not in the way he hopes. Very gallant of him to leave the cheque for her though (did she collect it on the way out?) and a side of Jim that was good to see.
Great episodes this week - thoroughly enjoyable and well written.

Thanks for that. I thought it would be a 30 second montage but it goes on for about 10 minutes. Very enjoyable.
June will indeed be missed. Shame she didn't leave with Jim, but I guess they have gone through too much in recent years to ever make a decent fist of life together again.
Jim has aged a lot since I last saw him. I remember in the beginning he still looked like a schoolkid!

i completely agree! i think Rod will give her the happy ending she wants and deserves however i don't think it would have been right for June to leave without saying goodbye to Jim and admittig she still loves but not enough! it was sweet and believable!

Even though she didn't go off with Jim I think it was a great touch by the producers to bring Jim back for her final episode so that, having appeared in the very first episode together, they could leave The Bill at the same time.

Yes, it was a nice touch.
I remember them in the first episode, in the canteen, with Carver overindulging in sugar. :)
