If you could emigrate to another country, where would you go and why?

With the EU laws making it seemingly easy for people to come here, do you think laws for other countries should make it easier too or have the other countries got the right mix.

For me it would be Germany. my boyf is from there, my son's grandparent are willing to look after both kids (so no childcare fees) we would have somewhere to live straight away and the county is beautiful especially where they live.. it is the place you would feel safe bring kids up in

The grass always looks greener far away. If I could have the temeperature of Florida, the price of beer of Prague I would never want to leave my native land. I love my country and am proud of it. No matter where I tavel to on holidays I love it when the plane passes over the coast and on a good sunny day all you can see are the Emerald Green fields. (Should I apply now for a job with the tourist board:rotfl: )

Oh yes get rid of ALL the politicians and then it would be the greatest wee country in the world (as well as Scotland).

I've always liked the thought of Australia. But don't know if I could actually live there :hmm: I'd have to have a trial run first  Thing that puts me off, is all the deadly spiders :|.

I like the idea of Australia but it's so far away. If anything happens you're at least 27hrs away.

Germany is also a great place. I lived there for two months a couple of years back and it's brill. It gets really hot in the summer, around 36C on average. Foot deep snow in the winter as well.

I wouldn't mind living in Italy. I've never been there but it sounds like a great place and I love pasta.

I would love to live in America either LA or NY. I know the Americans can be a bit wacco but you got to love them. Apart from America I think it would be Ireland, because it's like scotland. I love scotland there is some beautiful places and islands to visit.

The thing I want most is a nice house with a garden, in a safe place for Marley to get out to play without having to worry about traffic and werido's hanging around but I think you get that in every city and country. I love living in Scotland and giving the choice I would like to live up north maybe on one of the islands like Skye, shetland or orkney.

Apparently the spiders hide in the toilet under the seat so if you went for a pee you could get a nasty shock:eek:

Oh I think living on Skye would be fantastic...get out of the rat race to a calmer, more scenic place. Though I think I'd like to do something like that in a few years time when I have settled down and poss have a child or two. Or at least have a pet labradoodle! lol

Though I totally love Edinburgh and think it would be a great place to live.:)

If I was to leave this country, for any reason....looks down at bag of swag.... I'd love to go to Canada.

A couple of years ago we had the opportunity of going to New Orlean's for a couple of years with my husbands work - boy was I glad we chose not to go!

With global warming etc many of the sun spots of the world now with be the deserts of the near future.

Scotland is going to be prime real estate in 25 - 50 years when vast tracts of USA, Australia and southern Europe are too hot to bear - and fuel is so expensive that you cannot afford air conditioning....

We may still end up in the States for a couple of years, my hubby works for a US company and he is out there an awful lot.

But home is Scotland.

I left Scotland 20 years ago for Gibraltar, mind you there are so many Scottish people over here that sometimes it's just like being in Scotland. I do miss it from time to time but still go back at least once a year to visit family. Gibraltar is so small and safe, it is an ideal place to bring up kids and with Spain on doorstep there is plenty to do.

I'm with you Shari. Forget about the major cities the places to be are the highlands and islands where there is some stunning country sites and beatiful places to visit. I would love to live on one of the shetland or orkney islands.

i'd say either germany or france. writing this now isn't a good idea as i miss germany, but it is really pretty there and you are soon out of the city so you can have the country life and then only be 20 minutes away from the city. plus the food is pretty darn nice :D
