Currently have a tooth abcess!

Its hurting like crazy currently on antibotics from the dentist, Paracetmol & ibuprofen.

oil of cloves doesn't work, bonjela etc doesn't work, painkillers are only just hitting the pain, any ideas what else I can try? Hopefully as soon as antibiotics kick in pain should start to ease.

Somehow still gotta work this week.

Please help, :wall: feel like I want to chop my head off, can't eat or sleep.

Salt water gargling the area helps wonders when I get these (and I get them quite frequently cos of my wisdom teeth trying to come through but can't) and the other thing I would highly recommend is Anbesol. You can get it in a liquid or gel form and works wonders - you'll feel like you've had a jab at the dentist once you've applied it. Its available from behind the counter of your chemist.

Maybe try an ice pack. Might numb the area a bit.

Don't want to upset you or anything, but all the things mentioned above work for a bit, it takes the "edge" off the pain, that's all. Once the antibiotics kick in, the painkillers will become more effective and you will get relief. Stick with it, you don't say how long you have been taking antibiotics, they normally take about 24 hours to start to work properly.
