I personally do not know anyone who actually likes it lol. I think it's really stupid. Why have one day of the year to be specifically for love.. if you love someone, shouldn't everyday be special? :searchme:

I think its a waste of money its an artificial festival designed by card manufacturers just like mothers day and fathers day. In saying that my wife and I always go out for a nice meal and a wee wine or two. No cards and No flowers

There's nothing wrong with celebrating a relationship and being together but having a specific day each year when everybody "should" be romatic and buy cards and flowers blah blah blah is just silly. Its like forcing religion on people.

Plus it makes people who aren't in a relationship feel uncomfortable/not normal when everybody says "did you get a card?"

Yeah it is a load of old tosh but it is better when single.. trust me on this.. while all the couples are been lovey dovey and going to dinner etc.. there is only single people left in the night clubs and it is so much fun... I got a million hugs and kisses on Vals night when I was single and I had a blast!!!

Call me an old romantic fool, but actually I quite like valentines day. i do think that it is badly exploited from commercialisation, but then so is every other celebration:

Mothers & Father's Days
Easter
Christmas
etc. etc.

I love the idea of there being someone for everyone, and you don't have to go with the commercialism - make your valentine's cards, prepare something special for one another, a meal, a massage whatever. Or if your single, why not send another single mate a valentine's card for a friend.

I also really love to people watch, you can see the secret smiles, flowers being carried at the station - its such a lovely sight.

 perhaps I should add my husband and I have been together for 11 years - (only married a few months) but we only give a small gift (like a chocolate, or make something like a special meal/dessert etc. - plus a card) - it creates special memories - hence the old romantic fool bit

I think it can be nice, but it is so artificial and fake now, i mean college was full of baloons yesterday and it was just a waste of money as in a few months they will proably have broken up. I tink its different when your older. Also my mate broke up with her bloke yesterday so i spent half the day with her crying so that wasnt really very romantic.

i think it's a waste- at college they were selling roses and it's like why? they're wilted, they mean nothing and you just spent £3 on something someone is like thank you and to show around... i don't see the point in it- if you love them that much every day is special!

I think it's absolute rubbish, especially if you haven't been with someone for long. I bet some people had the first valentines with their partner, and one wasn't very big on the whole valentines thing, so they didn't get any cards, then there was an argument. It's annoying as well, because you can be seen as not fitting in if you don't get any cards/flowers.
