Fans of EastEnders are in for a treat, thanks to a special programme to be shown on BBC Three on February 2.

EastEnders Sweethearts: The Story of Sonia and Martin will take a look back over the couple's decade in Albert Square.

The show coincides with the forthcoming departure of actors Natalie Cassidy and James Alexandrou.

Both stars, who have been with EastEnders for more than 10 years, discuss their time on the soap, as well as their off-screen friendship.

It features a glimpse at the trials and tribulations their alter egos have endured while living in Walford.
Sonia and Martin have seen each other through good times and bad, and between them have had to suffer the deaths of loved ones - notably Sonia's boyfriend Jamie and more recently, Martin's mum Pauline.

The pair also had a baby daughter following a one-night stand, and eventually tied the knot, although the marriage was short-lived.

The duo rekindled their romance shortly before Christmas last year, but Pauline forced them apart.

The documentary also lifts the lid on the characters' final scenes, and explores how the young actors feel about having grown up in the public eye.

Co-stars past and present, including John Bardon, Wendy Richard, June Brown and Todd Carty, will offer their thoughts.
