In an interview with Inside Soap, Producer Jane Dauncey has hinted that another ex-cast member of CASUALTY may make a return to the show.

'We're hoping to bring a much-loved character back for a special Comic Relief episode, written by Richard Curtis,' she reveals.

'Fans will be thrilled to see this person again.'

For the show's 20th Anniversary, CASUALTY has already seen guest return stints from Cathy Shipton (Duffy) and Gerald Kyd (Sean) which have proved popular with fans.

So who could be returning for the Comic Relief special due in March 2007?

Was Mike the American one who was a paediatrician as well? He was great.
If they could bring back Lara's fiance (Max? Can't remember his name) from the dead an bring back Lara as well that would be really good.
I don't think Lara will be coming back because she's just finished a long stint on The Bill.

Oh dear me, shows how good my memory is!!
Clive Mantle rings a bell, can't put a face to his name.
I don't think Simon died (I'm probably wrong again lol). Did he leave with a girl? I'd like to see Simon back, maybe with Lara, although that's unlikely. I think they had something going on between them.

EDIT: Sorry, Simon did die. It was in the plane crash that killed Jim.

What about Woody, the paramedic? He was great.
There's also Dillon who got shot but we never got to know if he lived or died.
Anybody remember Merlin, the registrar?

Actually... Jim didn't die in the plane crash :p Do you remember that Holby and Casualty crossover, where the lorry went into the hospital, and Jim died saving Rosie (Mubbs girlfriend).

I wasn't too keen on Woody actually. So not to bothered about him dying hehe.

Dillon, I'd love to see him back, mainly to see what happened to him :searchme:.

And yeah Merlin.. whatever happened to him :searchme:.

Comic Relief 2007
Friday, February 16, 2007

Comic Relief Co-Founder Richard Curtis joins forces with BBC's CASUALTY for a special Red Nose Day episode to be screened on Saturday 10th March.

Richard Curtis has taken a break from the Vicar of Dibley and films starring Hugh Grant to co-write a very special episode of CASUALTY, to be screened as part of BBC1's huge line up of Red Nose Day programming this year.

The episode sees the return of Oscar winning actress and old CASUALTY favourite, Brenda Fricker as Megan, and Angus Deayton who plays someone very like himself.

Megan comes into the Emergency Department because her grandson has been admitted after self-harming and is diagnosed with schizophrenia. He steals Abs' camper van and crashes it with Abs in it. Angus Deayton also makes a special visit to Holby as a grumpy man with a splinter in his thumb as staff and patients get into the Red Nose Day spirit.

Brenda Fricker said, 'I was absolutely delighted to be asked to do something for Comic Relief and what better way than appearing in CASUALTY again after all these years. Returning to the show was truly nostalgic for me and all the great memories came flooding back. Filming the Comic Relief special was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.'

The regulars in the Emergency Department are trying to raise funds for Comic Relief but Nathan is being cantankerous and having none of it. Eventually he learns that they were raising money at his expense - every time he said no to a fund-raising idea...!

But it's not all fun and games, as the episode explores some key issues that Comic Relief funds, including mental health, refugees and elder abuse. It is Comic Relief's intention to try to catch people before they end up in Casualty.

CASUALTY is part of a whole host of programming leading up to Red Nose Day on Friday 16th March, where the campaign culminates in a seven hour BBC One extravaganza, starting at 7pm.
