Actress Kim Tiddy, whose time as Sun Hill's PC Honey Harman comes to an end in January, is to play Kate O'Mara's daughter in the forthcoming play September Tide.

"It's set in 1948, and I play a character called Cherry," she said. "It's nice to do something completely different from The Bill."

She revealed how she'd been preparing for the role: "I've had some voice coaching and I'm really enjoying it. There's nothing like when you get into rehearsals and you all come together as a group of actors and see what happens and what works."
Tiddy, who has garnered an army of fans during her four-year stint on the ITV1 police drama, admitted she'd been keen to tread the boards.

"I told my agent I wanted to get back out there and do some theatre. You can get quite comfortable in a job, and I wanted to do something that scares me again. The though of going out there in front of loads of people is quite daunting, but I think it makes me focus and say to myself 'you are going to do this'."

When asked about whether quitting The Bill was a tough choice, she said: "I was in it for four years, so the thought of leaving came into my head. I had to make the decision quite quickly, otherwise I'd have ended up staying for another four years.

"I want to do as many different jobs in my career and experience as much as possible. It was a tough decision, but it's not like I have a family to support or anything like that. I made it with confidence and that was that."

Tiddy's character has enjoyed many a juicy plotline in her time, but when asked if she had a favourite, she replied: "I like my leaving storyline, I thought it was well written and well shot. I feel they've done me proud."

Looking to the future, Tiddy spoke about things she wouldn't consider doing. "Reality TV. I wouldn't do Celebrity Big Brother or go into the jungle.

"Although there's a small perverse part of me that thinks 'oh go on, it'll be a laugh'. I'd be up for all the challenges, but I probably wouldn't do it in the end."

Its a shame she's leaving it for the stage, cos i liked her, but ive yet to see what Lousia Lytton's like in The Bill.

i think she has the right idea, as an actress experience is the key to all good actors. The more you do the better you get.
