Wii console Help needed please

we got a wii yesterday and we were trying to play the sports game but we cant seem to get the sports games to work the remore works fine when we are setting it up and picking what we want to play and stuff but then as soon as we are on a sport it doesnt seem to register what we want it to do, on the bowling it flings the ball backwards and we dont think we are playing the bowling wrong as quite a few peopl have tried to do it and then on the others it doesnt do anything either the only one that halfs work is the boxing as we can use the knumchuck (sp) thing but the remote still wont work with it
so has anyone has this problem with it, or are we all just playing it wrong lol

Try cleaning the disc and check for any loose wires, particularly the one that goes from the mains supply to the console.

its nothing to do with that though, as it works fine except for when we actually get the sports up

we think it was to do with the control, as we got a new one and we can now do all of the games on it, but the old control did work for bits
