Who watched this tonight?? It was really good. Not all parts were funny, but then you expect that from "specials". Still it was really good. I liked the part where he asked her to marry him  Roll on next weeks!!!

P.s... Sorry if this is in wrong place.. didn't know where to put it!

I thought it was a hoot, especially when Owen said to Geraldine "I'll marry you dolly knockers" and what a babe Richard Armitage is as Harry

It was hilarious last night! It was funny when she was following the couple and she had to jump in the puddle to hide herself from them while they walked past!

I also liked the end when he asked her to marry him.

I wish they had left it where it was, a programme we could all remember with good memories of it.

I dont think they should have done any more, it has lost its magic now in my honest opinion. I've always been a big fan of The Vicar Of Dibley and this episode just didnt shine for me. Alice seems a bit too old to be the dippy dizzy Alice we all knew, the character made me cringe rather than laugh at her.

There just wasnt much comedy, it seemed to focus too much on this wirlwind romance, why would we care about her getting with Harry? We barely know him or care for him, it seemed too unrealistic for them to get married so soon, it would have been better for her to marry David's brother, who she's had a romantic background with in the past.

It seems like they have forced out two episodes for the sake of giving the BBC it's main christmas comedy episodes, but the result is anything but spectactular, it's ruined the memory for me. :(

Can't say i've ever been keen on this show really. It's never been one of my favourite comedies.

I thought it was brilliant! Was in stitches, especially when Geraldine was charging round the village screaming after she cottoned on that he was asking her to marry him, not perform the ceremony!

Loved the fact it wasn't a political statement from Richard Curtis this year, unlike last year.

The accountant joke was hysterical and I can't personally wait till New Years Day!!

Come on Geraldine, be the bride, not the bridesmaid!! :cheer:

Kylie

it was nice to see her potentially being the bride, especially after her failed relationship. Although i think it would have been better if they had got sean bean instead because of how much she loves him, plus i love him!
When she knocked on the neighbours door i expected it to be him

I loved this!

The whole "I jumped out of my seat, and screamed, it should've been me!" was sooo funny, and her following the bloke around when he was with his sister, and jumping in the puddle/pond to hide was very good too.

I think this was one of the funniest things I've ever seen, I dont think I stopped laughing! And to have someone as good looking as Richard Armitage appearing on nearly every scene just made it even better!!! :)
I just wish it wasn't ending!!!:(

I thought it was fabulous. Last time it was a sad one - it focused on those sick children in 3rd World Countries I think - so it was dissapointing - although touching.

But this was pure fun. Richard Armitage is GORGEOUS.

I think its been said before that it will be the last ever episode, but if it definitely is, then I really hope its a nice happy ending to finish on. I think probably they had to do this one anyway as I thought the last one left a sour taste in my mouth - it was more of Richard Curtis' own agenda rather than the comedy we all love, so I hope this one finishes it the way VOD and Geraldine deserves

Vicar To Return For One Off Special

The Vicar Of Dibley is coming back for a one-off special, writer Richard Curtis revealed today.

Fans believed they had seen the last of Dawn French's comic cleric Geraldine Granger when she tied the knot in the New Year's Day episode.

But Richard is bringing the character back for a Comic Relief special in March.

"I can reveal that there is going to be one more small episode of Vicar Of Dibley that we're doing on Comic Relief this year. So if people are really worried, there's something coming on March 16," he told Simon Mayo on Radio Five Live.

More than 12 million people tuned in to the final episode.

The Christmas Day episode pulled in 11.4 million viewers and was the top-rated festive show.

The BBC1 sitcom has been a TV favourite for the past 12 years.

i watched the first part and just drooled at richard armitage!! even my 13yr old daughter was drooling too!! my husband was just shaking his head!!
so much of this episode was so funny. the painting group where the men are supposed to be painting a landscape and they all paint the nude woman! where geraldine scales the fences and gates to get to harry and where she jumps into the puddle to avoid him and when she thinks harry is in love with the other woman who is his sister, she dreams he is marrying the woman and she sings it should have been me!! all pure class!!!!!!!

The Vicar of Dibley could be making a return to our TV screens - as a woman bishop, Dawn French has revealed.
She told an audience at Cheltenham Literature Festival that she believes writer Richard Curtis has a new series about her best-loved character up his sleeve.
When The Vicar Of Dibley ended with Geraldine's wedding, the plan was that it would all be so final that there could never be any revival, Dawn told an audience of about 1,000 at Cheltenham Town Hall.
But she discovered after the end of series party that Richard Curtis had asked for the Dibley set to be kept in storage and not destroyed.
Dawn said: "Richard agreed to a proper ending. After filming the wedding we had a lovely big party.
"As I was leaving the party the producer came up to me and said: 'You do realise that Richard has asked us to store the set?'
"So your guess is as good as mine. All I am saying is that Richard has got his eye on the ball.
"There are conversations, obviously, in the Anglican Church about female bishops - so watch this space!"

Dawn revealed that when she filmed the famous moment where she falls into a deep puddle it was a cold mid-November day - so the crew used warm water to make it less unpleasant for her.
"But of course that meant there was steam and you could see it so we had to take the warm water out and put the cold back in.
"With scenes like that you just have to pretend you are a kid and think: 'I'm going to love this.'
"The problem actually was getting out of the puddle again, I am heavy anyway and with all these clothes on I was drenched and even heavier.
"It was absolutely freezing - but I did have a secret wee! Don't tell anyone."
Asked how she enjoyed working with Emma Chambers, who plays simpleton Alice, Dawn said: "She is really one of the brightest people you could ever wish to meet. That goes to show what a good actress she is."
Dawn said a lot of people auditioned for the role of Alice but Emma was the only one who understood it did not have to be played as a 'thicko' but as someone who lived and believed in another world altogether.
"In fact I wanted that part more than I wanted the part I played because I could see what the jokes were," said Dawn.
She said that although French and Saunders is now coming to an end after 30 years - she and Jennifer Saunders are in the last 3 weeks of their stage version of the show in the West End - they will work together again.
"We will always work together but we just don't want to do the sketch show format any more," said Dawn.
"We did it for 30 years and I did The Vicar Of Dibley for 30 years."
Dawn was at the festival to promote her autobiography Dear Fatty in which she recounts some of the tragedies of her life - particularly the suicide of her father when she was 19 - as well as the funny moments.
