Ok not wanted to sound bah humbug, but me thinks this is half the problem and why loads of people are in debt now. Over spending, what ever happened to a few smellies, socks, and cd or 2 and a bit of make up. Now it's all 15 Dvd's, a laptop, 2 mobile phones, I-Pod, Games Consoles, £200 cash, £50 in vouchers. It's Christmas gone crazy.
Christmas is about spending time with your friends and family and love ones.

So Merry Christmas everyone, and my present to you all is a BIG fat HUG :D

I had 4 tops, a dressing gown, my new full length coat and financial contribution towards my newer iPod.

And my hubby actually didnt work Xmas Day, which was the main thing we wanted.

yeh i know, i know i got quite a bit, but i dont think i got anywhere near the amount some people do. i think im just lucky cos my mum has a really large family and they all buy me stuff/give me money. i cant believe what some people get just from their parents when they tell me

I actually am SHOCKED... I realize most of the posters were just kids who do not have the responsiblity of a family YET..When I was a single mom, I was lucky to scrape up enough money for some small prezzies for my son.. his grand parents made up for what I was not able to get him, what he really got from me was lots of love... I guess I was one of those single parents who REFUSED to go into debt for the sake of giving my son every thing he wanted and spoiling him rotten ( buying love is not the way to raise a child or going into deep debt) :nono:
I know my son is trying very very hard not to spoil his own son, even tho he can well afford to do so. So I hope what I taught him carrys over to his son.
I am just voicing my opinion on this I am with Siobhan, Dawn and Em .........whatever happened to the spirit of Christmas ??:searchme: :searchme:

yeah, thats what happened to me. I also have a rather large family. so there were gifts from numerous aunties and uncles. My parents Got me the Book, the Slippers, the Cd and the Jacket.

If you asked people how much they got from their parents/grandparents it wouldn't be that much, i wouldn't think (I didn't get anything from my grandparents at all. Not even a card, lol). I think more people get things from their friends now, thats all. The majority of mine came from friends and the kids at the youth group i help at. So i dont think its the question of being spoilt, its just people are getting more smaller presents, from lots of people.

Thats how i see it, at least.

yeh i agree, i only got one pressie from my parents (the ipod) and one pressie from one set of grandparents (the perfume), my other nan gave me and my sis money. the other pressies come from aunites and uncles, family friends, my friends etc. i feel greedy if i get too much, the only thing i asked for this year was an ipod (which annoyed my mum cos she didnt know what to tell family members to get) but i honestly didnt really want anything and some things i did want, such as cds/dvds i prefer to save up and buy myself

I got £30 from my Gran, but I think she feels guilty because she payed for my cousin's car to be fixed after he had an accident, and she's never had to fork out a sizeable sum on my behalf.

I had a fantastic Christmas spending the day with all my family including my youngest niece and nephew.

We had a fab meal and played charades etc and more that a little wine was consumed.

most of my presents were from my mum and dad, my nan and grandad got me a dvd and smeely things, my granadad perfume, my aunt and uncle perfume and my other aunt a cd and my aunt and uncle got me a poressie to but i have totallu forgot what that was and the rest i mentioned is from my mum and dad but just becaue your parents buy you more presents it dont mean they are trying to buy love i love my parents to pieces and if i could give back all of my presents i have ever got just to get my nan back who died when i was 4 id do anything so does that sound like someone who is spoilt
anyway im not goona type no mroe as i have totally trailed off but basically i dont think parents try and by love if they get you presents
