Billy has Petal baptised

Sunday, December 24 2006 at 20:00 GMT on BBC One

Billy races home to give Honey an update and asks her to join him, but she is unable to look him in the eye. Bryan, meanwhile, asks how Honey is coping, but Billy bitterly remarks how people are always concerned about the mother's well-being. Honey later finds the letter Billy wrote Petal and opens it – after reading it, she tears it up. At the hospital, the surgeon tells Billy that the next 48-72 hours are critical for Petal. For that reason, Billy asks is Petal can be baptized. As the Chaplain performs the baptism, Honey enters and says she wants Petal to be baptised “Janet”.

Meanwhile, Charlie and Mo are shocked to hear that Stacey and Bradley have split up. In the Vic, Bradley throws Stacey an invoice for the damage to his car the previous night Max enters and tries to apologise to his son for hitting him. Bradley tells his father that he'll be having Christmas dinner with Dot and Jim. As Max turns to leave the pub, Stacey puts her hand on his arm asking him to stay. She follows him out the Vic telling him she wants more than a kiss. Max asks her whether she thinks he would seriously risk everything - she asks how bad he wants to be.

Elsewhere, Phil is determined to make Ben's first Christmas without Kathy special. However, the Santa he booked has bailed out because he has the flu, so Minty agrees to stand in; and Pauline sits in a half-packed sitting room listening to the sounds of laughing people outside.

Pauline packs her belongings

Monday, December 25 2006 at 18:30 GMT on BBC One

Pauline surveys her packed sitting room – passport in hand. A hassled Jane, meanwhile, is busy wrapping Christmas presents and Ian tells her he's off to see Pauline to check whether they're still welcome for dinner. When Ian turns up at the Fowlers', he's shocked by what he sees. Ian can't understand why Pauline just doesn't make up with Martin. Ian also tells Pauline how much he relies on her. And back at the Brannings' Martin has a shock proposal for Sonia.

Later at the laundrette, Dot begs Pauline to make up with Martin as she's the only friend she has left. Pauline, however, tells her that arrangements have been made for her to leave. Dot is left in tears as Pauline hands over the keys to the launderette and walks out of the door.

Pauline heads back home and zips her luggage. Sonia watches a miserable Martin at the bar. There's a knock at Pauline's door – it's Sonia.

Meanwhile, Stacey heads to Max and Tanya's house to give them their present. After giving him the present, Stacey gives him a kiss and a big hug – holding on for too long. Max gives Tanya a look while she makes an awkward sympathetic face. Tanya then tells Stacey she's sorry to hear about her and Bradley splitting up.

Jean sings Bradley's praises all day and, in the Vic, Bradley and Stacey come to blows when he tells her he wants nothing more to do with her. Afterwards, Max is horrified when Stacey enters the gents, telling him she can't stop thinking about him. Max tells her it's never going to happen. An upset Stacey heads home and is smashing up her presents when the doorbell goes. She is surprised to see Max standing there. Max tells Stacey she needs to stop this behaviour. Stacey runs her finger down his chest, he hesitates and then kisses her…

Elsewhere, Ben is busy going through his Christmas presents from Stella – a large box of practical jokes. Minty emerges from his front door in a Santa suit, followed by a tentative Garry in an elf outfit. Garry, however, isn't amused when he discovers that Phil got him to dress up as a wind-up; and Billy and Honey tell Peggy that they'll know at the end of the day how Janet's doing. Peggy raises a toast to Janet. Stella goes to chink with Ben who ignores her.

Pauline dies alone in the Square

Monday, December 25 2006 at 21:00 GMT on BBC One

Sonia tells Pauline about Martin's proposal, but she's not impressed and hurls abuse at her. However, Sonia holds her ground and tells Pauline she should stay in the Square. Sonia tells Pauline the only reason she’s leaving is to punish Martin but acknowledges how she used to look up to her and Arthur when she was younger. She asks Pauline why she hates her so much and an argument ensues. Sonia implores with her to be the Pauline Fowler she once was, but just as it seems Sonia may have got through to her, Martin calls on the mobile and Pauline tells her to get out of the house.

A shaken Pauline heads outside where she finds Rebecca’s Christmas card. Pauline begins to leave a message on Martin’s mobile. Pauline leaves her house with Rebecca’s present in her hand. A wavering Pauline hesitates at Dot’s door; realising that no one’s there she turns and heads over to the Vic…

Max tells Stacey that sleeping together was a mistake but Stacey tells him she has nothing to lose anymore. She blames Max for ruining her relationship with Bradley and that Tanya and Bradley have a right to know what’s happened between them. Max tells Stacey he has feelings for her and he knows she feels the same - they can forget this ever happened, but begs Stacey not to tell anyone about it. Later, Max is stunned when Bradley turns up on his doorstep.

Bradley apologises to Max about provoking him the other night and that he was right about Stacey – they had something special and now Bradley’s thrown it away. An alarmed Max tries to convince Bradley to stick by his decision and let Stacey go.

Elsewhere, Phil agrees to be the replacement Santa. Phil also asks Ben to be nice to Stella – he's played tricks on everyone else and she's feeling left out; and Billy calls Peggy from the hospital telling her that he's fearful for Janet.

The Square is in shock

Tuesday, December 26 2006 at 19:00 GMT on BBC One

Sonia stands by the railings where Pauline fell. Over at the Brannings', Dot tells Sonia that they have to be strong for Martin. Ian says he can’t imagine the Square without her – everyone he grew up with has now gone and a devastated Dot regrets how Pauline died alone. Martin and Sonia agree they need to tell Rebecca about Pauline.

Rebecca runs into the kitchen and shies away from Sonia, clinging to Martin. Sonia tries to persuade her to play but she turns away. Searching for her Christmas present from Rebecca, Sonia realises she must have dropped it at Pauline’s. Dot heads over to Pauline’s to get Betty’s basket: Sonia freezes as she hears the kitchen door opening and crouches down out of sight. Dot takes Betty’s basket and leaves. Sonia tries again to talk to Rebecca who is still nervously avoiding her. …

Meanwhile, Tanya's still puzzled as to what got into Max the previous night. Max calls Stacey and asks her to call round later that day. Later, Max tells her what happened the other night can’t happen again – Stacey should be with someone her own age and he's taken aback when she concurs. Stacey tells Max she’ll leave providing he can look her in the eye and say he doesn’t want her…

Max makes a grab for her. As he pulls off his shirt, she gets her stuff and heads for the door telling him you can have too much of a good thing. Stacey asks Bradley whether they can be friends again and he tentatively agrees. Stacey walks away and sees Max watching her. She smiles, feeling like Queen of the world.

Elsewhere, as Dawn and Mickey prepare to go and visit Rosie, Li arrives at the Millers' house. Mickey asks Darren to make his excuses, and Li tells Darren she was hoping to give Mickey his Christmas present; and Phil asks Ben how he would feel if Stella came to stay with them, but he says nothing. Phil tells him that Stella will never replace Kathy and that they'll always be a team – he'll only ask Stella to stay if Ben is happy with it. Ben considers a moment and asks if they can see how it goes? Phil agrees.

I think it is.. I read in the christmas mags for the new year, Martin proposes to Sonia and then in the new year finds out about Sonia visiting Pauline before she died (it think this resulted in her death) and i am sure it is the end for them again
